I hate it when I click on the url-field and its size change.

It wasn't there in former firefox versions and I did not miss it. It changed some time ago. Any decent software development would have introduced his new feature and provided a "classic" option to turn it off. Not so firefox. Mozilla introduced it and I had to google how to get the old behaviour back. No option.. I have to go to about:config, ignore teh warnings, find some weird options and set them to false and the mozilla turned that off too. Now the was to change it is to set up a css-file, got to about:config again to make firefox actually read that file, place some mystery css-code in there and it still does not work!

Very annoying, an outstanding example of bad practice how to introduce new features and take away users choices.

So: How to stop URL bar from enlarging on click?

Okay I just uploaded the new version of firefox I think 83, and every time I restart my computer or anything like that I have to re-log back into EVERYTHING. All my google accounts everything that require a password. It has for the most part my passwords saved but it i a huge hassle especially since I work from home it eats up a lot of time.

It doesn't save my tabs I had left open either. I can get them back when I go to sync tabs but I have to do it one at a time. It literally takes me back to the "Important News: Changes to your Firefox" page every time and its been days and its super frustrating. If I have to do this every time I will have to switch over to chrome which would be a bummer. I have tried fixing it in my preferences section of firefox and made sure everything is lining up there so it should be saving my info but no matter what I do it just takes me back to that page along with my ad blocker and honey page as if it was my first time signing in

Please help I can't do this every time I log in

I hav been using my Gmail in Firefox with no problem until about 3 days ago. Now when I try to sign in to my account I get a pop up window which states “This browser or app may not be secure. Try using a different browser. Etc.”

I have tried another browser (chrome) and Gmail works fine, but I like working in Firefox. But at this rate I may dump Firefox and go to another browser.

I have looked through the other support group questions and solutions. I have tried them all and nothing is resolved. Clearing cache, clearing cookies, using a private window, managing data, using forget about this site, generating a new profile, disabling extensions, loading in safe mode, etc.

I have Firefox version 83.0 (64 bit). My operating system is windows 7.

Any other suggestions?

Installed 83.0 update for my Firefox a few days ago and noticed that fonts in browser looks worse. It bacame jagged (sharp) as if Clear Type was disabled in my system but I checked it and it is turned on. Also I don't see this problem in other browsers, Edge or IE, only in Firefox. Could it be a bug with latest update or what is it?

Hello,

I have a 2018 iMac running macOS Big Sur 11.0.1. I have Firefox 83 installed and using it.

I wanted to know if anyone knew when mozilla is gonna update the logo so it matches the Big Sur UI? It kinda drives me nuts when I see that the only thing not consistent with the stuff in my dock is Firefox - everything else like Logic pro x, imovie, chrome, etc. is all up to date.

Thanks.

When I try to dowload a file, i fails and create a 0 byte file. I tried with repository firefox, and download the tar.gz from dev version. Both fail. I deleted ~/.mozilla and ~/.cache/mozilla to start fresh and the error persist. I can browse, open a PDF in integrated viewer, but I am unable to save it. Other browsers can download files to ~/Downloads without problems.

Any hint of how to debug (and/or solve) the problem is welcome.

Thanks

I have the DuckDuckGo search engine as the only search engine in my list of search engines. There is a very annoying issue with the way Firefox handles searches.

When I enter text into the DuckDuckGo search box two things can happen after hitting Enter to perform the search. If the cursor was positioned just below the search box where Change Search Settings button is located, after hitting Enter the the search defaults to the Options/Search page. This requires reloading my home page retyping my search query and ensure that the cursor isn't located over the Change Search Settings. Since the search engine textbox is located high up on the page instead of in the middle my cursor frequently ends up positioned over the Change Search Settings button. Since I am only using one search engine, it would be great if the Change Search Settings button could be disabled. Can This be done? I haven't been able to disable it with Firefox version 83.0 (64 bit).

MS has begun 'grabbing' my FF browser - does this about once a week. It closes my tabs, kills my search engine and substitutes bing. This, I assume, is malware from MS and may have come in with the new Windows 10:

First - I want to make Mozilla aware this is happening.

Second - how can I prevent those bastards from grabbing the browser and making me re-install my tabs - all this takes about a half hour?

Thanks,

DMS

I use FireFox portable 82.0.3 . When I select it as the default browser it sets the .pdf reader for the whole Windows OS as Firefox reader. I have the .pdf reader set in Windows as Adobe Reader. I also use Opera browser & some of the time I set it as the default browser. Opera doesn't change the .pdf reader when set to default browser. I know how to change it back to Adobe Reader in Windows but this is inconvenient every time I select FireFox browser as the default. I even set the Options/Applications to Portable Document Format (PDF) Use Adobe Reader in FireFox. If using FireFox & looking at a .pdf online FireFox uses Adobe Reader. When I click a .pdf in Windows the Windows uses the FireFox reader until I change Windows back to Adobe Reader. I would like to stop FireFox from setting the .pdf reader to FireFox reader everytime I choose FireFox as the default browser.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/search-firefox-address-bar says that "You can choose an alternative search type and use it for your search with one click if you don't want to use the current default."

However, that doesn't happen.

Steps to Reproduce: 1. Launch Firefox (Windows or Ubuntu) 2. Type "sennheiser" in the address bar 3. Click a custom search provider's icon (e.g. Wikipedia)

Expected Result: A list of search results on Wikipedia or the Sennheiser Wikipedia page.

Actual Result: UI elements change in the address bar (see screenshots)

Recently a Website "Fastly" tries to connect to its own IP addresses. Even if nothing has been done to call it,

My research shows that Fastly now owns the IP addresses formerly used by the known spyware ad supploer Cambridge Entreprenurial 199.232.0.0 thru 199.232.255.255. I see these connection attempts because my FireWall specifically blocks the address used by Cambridge Entrepren... So the FW gives me a popup. (which I can bypass temporarily)

But I can't find a way to stop it or what is causing Fastly to do anything. It just seems to call home when it feels like. The only consistency is only partial at best. That is for Amazon.com. In that case sometimes connecting to Amazon.com works fine. But much or most of the times I do not get an even cl;ose properly formatted Amazon page. And if I do get an OK Amazon home page, odds are high the next tab-page I open will be messed up, or not have any formatting or no graphics at all.

Any ideas? And can we get rid of Fastly or do we just have to block sites that allow Fastly to operate?

Hello, My problem is when I did the lastest FireFox update on 11/21/20, YouTube video's will not play on FireFox, even with the accelerated hardware un-checked, and even in Safe Mode. However - YouTube "does" work just fine on Google Chrome.

My system: MBP, High Sierra, using FireFox version: 83.0 (64-bit). What Ive done so far: Ive shut off the ad-blocker, the accelerated hardware is always off, went into Safe Mode and still the vids wont play. YouTube video's play perfectly fine in Google Chrome.

FireFox: I can watch movies on Amazon Prime with no problems. Its just a YouTube problem.

Thanks very much for your sage advice.
