Attempting to attach any file crashes the browser - Version 116.0.2 (64-bit)

Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit

Any website. File explorer window doesn't even appear. It just crashes instantly.

Audio on my PC works except on the firefox browser. The browser is not muted, I've checked the volume mixer, i've reinstalled firefox, but nothing seems to work. This just started occurring a couple days ago. When I restart the pc, i will get audio from firefox for a couple seconds then audio stops.

Various tasks have no effect , eg entering 'Duolingo.com' in the search field has no effect. Nothing is returned (screen remains blank - no messages). No problem with other search entries Also attempted link to my bank account similarly froze. End up by switching to Msoft Edge and completing my mission.

Ever since the latest FF update each time I start/re-start FF I need to resignin to Dashlane. Honestly this hasn't happened in over 20 years. I haven't been able to find any similar reports. Has and/or can anyone explain why and hopefully provide an answer/work around? Thanks anyone/everyone.

I am running Firefox on Mint Debian edition, I find the Youtube playback very low volume preset at about 1/4 of max, I try set it to the max but it returned the same after restart. I start FF in trouble shooting mode to disable theme and extension but didn't change thing, I remove and reinstall FF also did not help. I find something strange that, on the Help menu it said the updates disabled by system administrator but I did not do that, it is now on 116.0 64bits, any comment ?

Hey, since 2 months firefox started crashing when a video comes to the end. I tried it in troubleshoot mode skipped to min 10:45/10:50 and played. after this 5 sec it just crashed. I noticed it on youtube but tried it on other players and it also happened. Today I also started a video on a other website and it crashed but not when starting youtube videos.

In Firefox, when I type 'news' into google instead of getting a list of links it takes me straight to the Financial Times website. Is this an issue with google or is Firefox being hyjacked?

Because numerous things did not work with version 116, I downloaded previous version of the browser and installed it. When it started it said something like "you are trying to use the previous version so some things may not work, would you like to create a new profile?" and there was a choice "yes" or "exit". So I chose "yes" - because how creating a new profile could mean something bad? But it did - it deleted all my bookmarks and settings. I have used mozilla for years, everything was in it. How to restore the bookmarks and everything back? It, by the way, upgraded itself to 116 anyway.

On some webpage, I experience delay response when I trying to search sometime. For example, in Google homepage after typing something or even gibberish the page froze and not responding for about 10 second but the browser is still functioning (meaning I can still move other tabs or open option). Once that 10s delay is over, it responded with my result. And something when I when to search back something again(not in the homepage), more of the time is response back fast like 0.2s but other time the same 10s delay. This problem also happens in some other website but not all in their search bar. I have try in safe mode. disable all my extension, reinstall Mozilla Firefox, check any windows update and such. Also other browser does not have this problem such as chrome and brave. If this problem still persisting then I would such to other browser but prefer not to as I quite fond of Firefox. I get no warning when auto updates begin installation. I get notified about 1/2 way through the process. The pc (Win 10 pro 64bit) slows to a crawl for 5-10 minutes, then the install finishes, & then it's another 5-10 minutes before the pc is usable.

I would really appreciate a "update is available" notification, which I would agree to at a convenient time. This is really getting to be problematic. Other browsers that do auto updates don't hose my pc.

The following just started a week or so ago. When I start Windows 11 (latest version), Firefox (build 116.0 64 bit) automatically starts and the page that displays is attempting to access one of my Microsoft accounts. I tried toolkit.winRegisterApplicationRestart. but nothing changed. There is nothing in my Startup folder related to Firefox, and msconfig doesn't list anything as a startup process.

What's strange is that this just started happening. I've used Firefox as long as I can remember, and have never had this issue.

Short of uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling it, does anyone have any suggestion(s)? Thanks.

I am frequently needing to clear the Cached web content, when doing development work on a website. I always need to remember to remove the check mark from the Cookies box. However, I sometimes forget and loose dozens of log-in cookies and need to reset them, which is a big pain.

I was unable to find anything in the Firefox Advance Configuration settings. In Chromium and Chrome browsers, only the Cached images and files box is set with a check mark. If I cannot change the default for Cookies, this is reason enough for me to switch browsers, despite using Firefox for many years.

When I use a vpn with firefox (not the firefox vpn), I cannot open normally blocked websites such as twitter or youtube, and instead they open in a sort of half-loaded state (see image). I don't face this problem with other browsers. I have tried deleting and reinstalling firefox, but it doesn't seem to work. Can anyone help out?

I have Firefox Sync enabled in my Firefox browser on a few computers. When I logged in to Firefox Sync initially, it did sync-up my new computer with all of the saved bookmarks and history. I am not sure if any of my logins were saved). When I go to websites and login, I am prompted with the dialog to save my credentials, and I say ok, save. But the logins are not remembered. And in my about:logins page shows "no logins found". I don't care about retrieving any old logins, I just want to be able to save new ones and get the default behavior of saving logins working again.

I am using Firefox in a Linux environment with multiple workstations, where I may be logged into more than one workstation at once. The workstations have an auto-mounted home file system such that my home directory (including my Firefox profile directory) are shared.

Because of this, when I try to launch Firefox on a second workstation, I get an error saying "Firefox is already running but is not responding". I have read the support articles about this issue, and other community support threads, but none of them address this use case.

I wish to use the same profile, so that I still have all my bookmarks and such, and have them continue to stay up-to-date. How can I do so in this environment?

Since a few days, it is not possible to copy-and-paste any external text or content into the text field of WhatApp Web on Firefox. It works fine on Chrome. Also text manually copied from a previous WA message can be pasted.

We tried on other PCs with Firefox and Chrome, same situation. So it seems to be a problem of Firefox latest version.

The below live thread has always, since the start of its creation back at the outbreak of the war (so Feb/Mar 2022 time-frame) loaded slow and continues to load slow in FF (all version since then until now) and it loads a lot faster in Chromium based browsers. I've never personally dug into the page loading, but some aspects of how it renders embedded tweets seem super slow, and that's nothing to do with any changes Elon has made recently to Twitter/X... like I said, it been happening since Feb/Mar 2022 when the live thread was first created.

I just think that live thread is a great test case on where Firefox can measure and maybe improve some page load and render times.

media like .gif files and .mp4 files are used very frequently in the Discord servers I'm in and for some reason whenever those specific file types are used won't load/function. I noticed that while the DRM icon was present in the discord tab, that those two file types worked just fine; but I have no clue how to set it to always turn on for specific sites.

Intermittently (maybe 1/20 times?), when I try to do a Google search from the URL bar I'll get a tab that doesn't load for about 30 seconds. If I search for the exact same thing in another tab it will load instantly, and if I select the url and press enter it will also load instantly. I am seeing this issue both when entering a search and when selecting text and clicking "Search Google for X".

I found a recommendation on a similar issue to set security.tls.enable_0rtt_data = false in about:config but I have seen no change with that setting.
