Hi, I have updated to the latest version and I found out that the close other/right tabs with right click on the tab has been folded,so I need wait for it to show then I`m able to click close other/right tabs which is inconvenient for me. Is there any way to config the shortcut keys, like ctrl+shift+T will recovery the last tab. Thank you!

I like to open all urls and links in a new tab because then I don't loose the original tab's contents. So I have set browser.tabs.loadBookmarksInTabs to true. Alas if I click on a link in the history library it still replaces the actual tab. I know that I can do a middle click or a right click to get a new tab but I would appreciate if I could set the standard behavior to open a new tab. Is there a setting for this?

How do I hide tabs title in Firefox. It is a feature I really like in Chrome : when you have a lot of tabs, the only info that remains in the tab is the favicon. In Firefox we get a useless 4 letters title and it takes a lot of space in the tab bar for no added UX/UI benefit (I still need to mouseover the tab to know the title, and this is fine by me, I just want to reclaim the useless space to display more tabs).

Got updated to FF71 and my Tabs which I had moved under address bar got moved back above the address bar. (Had moved them under by creating userChrome.css file which no longer works) Is there anyway I can get the tabs again to display to under the address bar? It's just so confusing with the tabs on top. I appreciate any help!

Since I upgraded to version 77.0.1, my startup tabs don't function properly. I have Gmail, Facebook, and Google Calendar as my 3 tabs but Gmail no longer loads. I just get a blank tab. I have to manually type in the URL to get gmail to load. After manually typing in https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox and bringing up gmail, I went back to settings and set Use Current Pages but that didn't help.

These are the settings in Options, Home: https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#inbox|https://www.facebook.com/?sk=h_chr|https://calendar.google.com/calendar/r?tab=mc

Any ideas? These have been my 3 startup tabs for a very long time!

I regularly open links in a new tab to read later, especially for websites that I know will be slow to load (my internet is not great).

For the last couple of months, sometimes when I open a link in a new tab, it loads the link in the tab I'm in in addition to the new tab. If I go to the new tab immediately, wait for it to load the page completely, and then go back to the original tab to continue browsing in that tab, it's fine. If I open the link in a new tab and stay in the original tab to continue browsing further, the original tab will load the link in addition to the new tab so that the link is open in two tabs and the page I was on isn't in any tab. The back button still works, but it is INCREDIBLY annoying.

It doesn't do this on all links, but it consistently does that when I am using my Outlook email via webbrowser, and clicking on a link in the Washington Post email digest to a Washington Post article. For a while I thought it was just some weird thing in the Washington Post emails, but I have noticed it happening on other websites as well, most recently when I was on tumblr and clicked on a gofundme link.

Is this a general Firefox problem? a problem with an extension?

When I right click on a link and choose "open in new tab" or highlight text and do a search from the context menu, can I set my preferences or about:config so that browser does not jump to the new tab immediately? In other words, I want to stay on the page I'm on and have the new link tab load in the background. I hope I have explained this adequately. Thanks.

Currently, whatever link(s) you set as your Homepage is also the same link(s) that appears when you open a New Window. The way that New Window is inherently clumped together with the Homepage seems to make it impossible to separate the two in the Options settings.

What is the logic behind this? Why have a separate setting for New Tab, but not New Window? I like having Firefox open up multiple tabs as my homepage when I first boot up Firefox, but if I want to open up a new window just for screen management space with Ctrl+N, I really am not interested in my homepages being re-instantiated, as I already have them open on my first window.

I really want my Homepages to remain a custom mix of tabs with any New Tab and New Window opening up to a Firefox's default new tab page. Is that not possible? I can't have a custom Homepage without also having a custom New Window configuration? :(

It just seems like an arbitrary distinction. What can I do to make this magical world of separate Homepage and New Window settings happen?

Sincerely, A Fan

firefox tab name edit: can a user name tab at will ?

right now it has LOGO and "Home" but i want it to read something like OSC-US Office of Special Counsel-Independent Agency-Home because i just do.

i have three other bookmarks for OSC: i can edit the bookmark name from "properties" but have never known whether i can also edit the name shown on a tab.

LOGO Home isn't too helpful to me. but even just knowing that i CAN'T edit tab names will be helpful to know, so i can stop thinking about it and get some sleep after another bag of chocolate-chip cookies. being an american right now is plenty stressful.

who named them "cookies" anyhow?-is it bc they kind of leave crumbs? did i win?

thank you for helping. i do appreciate it.

This question was asked a few months ago and is archived now. It gave a detailed explanation of how to make the tab text bold. I followed the instructions carefully, but it did not work. Maybe this method doesn't work in the current version of Firefox (77.0.1 as of this writing)? The solution involved adding to or creating a userChrome.css file, which I did (the answer also referenced the filename "userContent.css", which I also tried without success).

The solution said to create a css file that contained this text:

#TabsToolbar .tabbrowser-tab .tab-content {
  font-weight: 800 !important;
}

put it in a folder named "chrome" in the user profile folder, and then restart Firefox, which I did, but it had no effect.

Anyone have another solution, perhaps that works with a later version of Firefox? Thanks much.

I've had no problem with Firefox until yesterday. When I right-click the Firefox icon it won't open a new window. I've never had this problem before. At the time this occurred I started having problems with the Windows 10 start up not opening and not displaying my apps and the Windows Picture editor presenting me with a black screen and not allowing me to import photos from my camera or iPhone. I uninstalled and re-installed Firefox and it still doesn't open a new window when I right click the icon. I can't find information on how to solve this anywhere and am hoping someone here can help me. Thank you for any help you can provide.

This refers to Firefox version 80.01.1 (64 bit), on a Windows 10 platform, OS build 19041.450.

I tend to open pdf files in a new tab.

Later if I choose to download that file, I will paste the URL in the file as record.

Now with this version of Firefox, the URL is not shown with the pdf file, but rather a local drive temporary location! (e.g. file:///C:/Users/User/AppData/Local/Temp/recycling-02-00003.pdf)

This does not happen all the time, but at some sites, e.g. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjWlPex8trrAhUh6XMBHf5bAbQQFjACegQIAxAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mdpi.com%2F2313-4321%2F2%2F1%2F3%2Fpdf&usg=AOvVaw3fTZswGqS5KjqCNjFbe2HE

How can I force Firefox to stop doing this? Thanks!

I have selected the option "Restore previous session". Normally, it works fine, but if the last Firefox window closed before was in private mode, it doesn't - instead I get the last sessions of this private window. I'm not quite sure, but I think this behavior was different (= Firefox restores always the tabs from the last non-private window) before one of the last updates.
