Avast wanted to removed an Addon it didn't like so I allowed it to get rid of it. But Avast Destroyed My Previous Session! How Do I Get it Back? I clicked on 'Restore All Windows' but all I got was a bunch of new windows and on only one Window of about 8 that are now lost or gone. Months to build... now if I can't restore these, it will take weeks or a month or more to build back what I had!
Why can't I get my previous tabs to restore when I have the option set to do this?

I have the option to restore previous tabs set correctly. I have exited and reopened Firefox twice and neither time did it open my previous tabs. The second time, I opened the 3 tabs I could remember from my previous session, checked to make sure the option was set correctly, yet when I exited and opened Firefox, none of my tabs showed. And my history is empty. How can I keep this from happening in the future?

please help i am panicking so much right now i would type in all caps but i know that wont help
my session has a very very large amount of tabs and it only just started slowing down in the past 24 hours. ive never had trouble before today, but i just restarted and it only loads a completely blank page with the tab name New Tab
there is no option to restore previous session, and both restore closed tabs and restore closed windows options are empty in the library section
ive opened 2 windows and refuse to close either because im afraid it will completely remove all of my tabs forever. i will only restart in safe mode if i get a really good explanation and reason. anything that sounds risky i would really need a good explanation before i do it please
ive done verify integrity in the about:places section i think its called. ive looked around for my problem and ive submitted some recent crash report which could've been when the browser lag started
Thank you
can't click on "restore session" The item is light grey
restore session can't be put ON
Restores old tabs
Anytime I have to restore tabs it restores a session from approximately two to three weeks ago.
Any help is appreciated

The option to restore previous session on start up does not work now. Firefox asks to close all the tabs and loads homepage on startup.

After doing an update it would have been nice to receive a notification to let me know that I should restart the browser but instead I am being prevented from opening a link in a new tab just because I have updated the browser among other things in the background. This is will only serve to discourage me from doing an update while I'm using the browser. Now it says that I could have restored the session but as you tell by the little purple mask in the top right corner of the image I've uploaded- I was using the browser in Private-mode so that won't happen and I will get a "Firefox is having trouble restoring your tabs" message if I did a reboot. I had typed whole bunch of stuff in one tab and I had ended up loosing that because I couldn't open a link in a new tab (using Ctrl+left-Click). Now even if a person isn't in Private-mode there are still plenty of reasons for not doing a reboot right after an update like it's possible that a person has to wait for internet access forcing a reboot like this will only make people curse the developers. In my case obviously I was in a private session and I wanted to finish working on something before doing a reboot and in the mean time I should be able to use the browser normally like would be able to use it if I hadn't done an update. In short people shouldn't be prevented from opening a link in new tab just because they've updated the browser. That should go without saying.
Just to mess with the user there's a nice little cartoon on the left with an unplugged extension cord.
