I upgraded to 40.0.0 today. I found a site with an RSS feed that I wanted to follow. I keep my RSS feeds in folders on my Bookmark Toolbar. I tried to load it to the appropriate folder, but it loaded to the toolbar itself. The feed showed new entries. I tried to move it to the proper folder and it stopped listing any RSS entries. I again tried to save the new feed to the proper folder. This time it did not appear on the Bookmark toolbar, but it did not appear in the folder I had said to load it to. I went back to 39.0.3 and it works properly. I am running the LiveClick addon, if that helps. I am posting using 39.0.3. All other extensions are what were in use under 40.0.0

Hi, Am using Firefox 40.0.2 on a Macbook Air and have the spinning ball of death all the time recently and only on Firefox... other browsers are ok. When I disabled all Add-ons, the spinning ball stops. When I painstakingly disabled and tested one at a time, the spinning ball never went away. How is this possible? Is there anything I'm not thinking of or anything else I can try? Here are screenshots of all my add-ons. Thanks!!

I will click on the URL for a specific website (often a Tumblr blog) and the browser will automatically redirect me to a Yahoo! search for terms related to that phrase. In some cases I can click the back button and it will take me to the website I originally wanted to go to, but sometimes it doesn't even do that. It's very annoying. The most common example of this is when I attempt to visit the blog gaslightgallows.tumblr.com, which redirects me to the search screenshotted in the attached image.

I cannot believe Mozilla did not give the option to turn off the so called `Smart Bar`. I have no need to check my history through the address bar and the only thing it does is get in the way, making it incredibly easy to click on links I no longer need to go back to. Amazing how something introduced into Firefox to uncomplicate checking your history has made browsing the web more complicated.

While in private browsing mode in Mac OS ver 45, I can log into Office365, but when I log out and back in I get the message

" Sorry, but we're having trouble signing you in

Please try again in a few minutes. If this doesn't work, you might want to contact your admin and report the following error: 800478A1."

This occurred before on a previous version of Firefox. If Firefox is not holding any information (private browsing) why can I not log back in?

I have Firefox 54.0.1 on Max OS-X 10.10.5. I must have closed my Firefox window without realizing it. I was checking an email and clicked a link to a google doc, which I quickly printed and then close the window. Then, when I went to go to my other firefox window, it was gone. Because I'd opened a new window (with the google doc) and closed it, not having realized I must have closed the previous window I had going rather than minimizing it, the "restore previous session" wasn't an option.

I had lots of tabs open in the window I want, and now it's a couple of windows back and I can't access it. Can you help me get those tabs back please?

When I go to "Tools" / "Plug-Ins" and click on "Check To see If Plugins Are Up To Date" it goes to Mozilla Check Your Plugin Page, but fails to show plugins or checked plugins update status. ( https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/?utm_source=firefox-browser&utm_medium=firefox-browser&utm_campaign=plugincheck-update ) I am using OS X 10.10.3 / Firefox 37.0.1 / March-14-2015

Tried, re-installing over original, clearing cookies, clearing cache and starting in Safe Mode to no avail. Another ridiculous oversight and there's never any support for when things do go awry. Unfortunately, I have received no professional concern, with a competent cause and cure. none. And I have had and reported this problem since Firefox 35.0.

Need info and a fix, for Months Now! Thanks! Whitebuck

Still wondering why, you're losing users?

Hi:

I do not know what is the impact of a "user agent". I do know if I choose the iPhone user agent on my Macbook, it means I can do things that website owners/designers were trying to limit to iPhone e.g. read full version of magazines for free. So I guess a user-agent somehow tells the website owner/designer "our device" we are in someway.

But does a user-agent do anything else technically to the browser? e.g.

>Does User-Agent control if a user-script that requires xx can use xx (where xx = https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.8.3/jquery.min.js). I can run this userscript successfully using GreaseMonkey in Fx but it fails to run in Fluid App. Fluid has userscripts embedded into the app, no plug-in is required.

>Does User-Agent control how low I can zoom. Current zoom level is restricted to 50% with below user agent. Most unhelpful.

I am wondering this as I started to play around with the purchased app, Fluid. Fluid converts a SSB (Single Site Browser) -- aka many apps that are now pure web browser but really are an app), into a quasi-app, so it can sit on your dock, use OSX notifications, use trays/split window panels etc..) Fluid is no where near as powerful as Fx, but it does have integration to OSX notifications which at the moment I cannot find an add-on that enables this via the webkit. Several add-ons are now using OSX notifications so I know it must be possible (e.g. download helper).

The latest version of Fluid is 1.8.3, which I recently purchased. By default I opened user agent and it shows this:

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10_10_3) AppleWebKit/0600.5.17 (KHTML, like Gecko) FluidApp Version/1955 Safari/0600.5.17

No idea what this user-agent is really telling me. I am on OSX yosemite 10.10.3, I use the latest FX (38 recently upgraded this week) and I do not use Safari.

Thankyou for your help.

Previously when I clicked on the lendle bookmarklet fx would navigate me to a new tab and open the appropriate lendle page. I liked that. Now fx opens the lendle page in the same tab. How do I force it to open in new tab?

- I have the add-on open all bookmarks in new tab.

- It worked before I installed TMP (Tab Mix Plus) add-on and it opened in a new page too with TMP installed. I have now removed the TMP add-on due to a big performance hit of this add-on. TMP is a cpu and memory hog.

- lendle bookmarklet has this code under bookmark properties

javascript:var array=document.URL.match(/amazon\.(.*?)\/.*?\/.*?\/(.{10})/);if(array==null){alert('This bookmarket works on Amazon.com Kindle book pages, and redirects you to the same book\'s page on Lendle. Please visit a Kindle book page on Amazon.com and then click this bookmarklet.');}else{var x=window.open('http://www.lendle.me/books/detail/'+array[2]);x.focus();}

- I checked my config settings per answer on https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1060711. My config setting is:

   browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external -1
   browser.link.open_newwindow 3

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1060711

There is this pref to override the behavior of opening a link in an external application.

   browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external

If this pref has the default value -1 then browser.link.open_newwindow is used.

The meaning of the value of the browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external is the same as of browser.link.open_newwindow

   1:current tab; 2:new window; 3:new tab;

I just noticed that when I type "amazon" on the location bar - it takes me to amazon.com, and if I type "Amazon <anything>" it takes me to the amazon search results.

I can reproduce this in safe mode on OS X Yosemite, Firefox 38.

How do I disable this behavior?

Edit: I just realized that this happens for my other search engines as well. If I type "duckduckgo is a good browser" it searches ddg for "is a good browser". Why does it do this and how can I disable it?

Once upon a time in a browser, there was an EDIT to copy the link in the address line. I would like to have this feature because it is difficult to highlight the address so it can be copied in the generic copy.

I have searched mozilla for this feature & the search function does not seem to recognize the word copy. THe results include all kinds of things to do with the address bar, except copy it.
