Each and every time I try to reply to an email received in my Optimum Online account, when sending there is a pop-up (drop down) saying "Webtop error" and nothing else. There is no record of this error in the Mozilla database. I have found little if anything elsewhere. Email can only be replied to by using a different browser, such as Opera. Windows 10 x64. All latest software updates installed.

Upon further search, I find that "webtop error" may be related to Unified Compliance Framework, which sounds Draconian. Further research is proceeding.

Firefox RAM usage on M1 Mac has dramatically increased. Unfortunately, b/c the memory usage is in firefox parent process, I can't simply terminate a process corresponding to a "tab", meaning I have no choice but to restart Firefox (closing & reopening all tabs) every hour or so of usage.

This is a new issue from a long-time firefox user (on multiple operating systems). It happened after I upgraded the Mac to "Monterey", which may or may not be coincidence.

Hello! I’m using a Mac and I just recently changed the main user’s name in the laptop, and now some images won’t ever load. For example, the profile pictures won’t load in StackOverflow and the image of my university in Google Drive won’t load. Actually, I’m not really sure anymore if it has anything to do with changing the username but I only started noticing it after that time. I also tried clearing the cache and resetting Firefox and even tried reinstalling it but the images still won’t load. Any help would be great. Thanks!

google.com and google related websites doesn't load at all. For example, gmail slowly loads, but loading icon never disappears, loading icon is always shown and then often it shows 'reconnecting' message. This works OK in Chrome.

Steps to reproduce: 1. Open Firefox without VPN - all loads well. 2. Enable VPN - stops loading. If I then disable VPN - it starts loading again.

If I restart Firefox it starts working OK, but after a while stops working again.

Hi, so yesterday, I updated to the latest version of FireFox (version 105.0). Nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary until I decided to watch a few YouTube videos. The best way I can describe this problem is that every time I decide to scroll down to see the description or read a few comments, the entire screen on my laptop goes black regardless if it's on default view or full screen.

Even though that does sound like a crash, the audio still plays, and if I power the computer to sleep mode and log back in, the window of the video automatically scrolls up and everything is back to the way it was (but I did had to restart the laptop once because it also visually broke my mouse pointer). The only way I can get around this problem is to pause whatever video I watch and then scroll down, and no black screen occurs.

I don't know if I'm the only one who has this problem, but I've never had this issue happen in past versions of FireFox. If there is another way to fix this problem, I'll be glad to take anyone's possible suggestions/solutions.

Until several weeks ago, new windows created through Javascript with window.open() worked. We could pass the new size, and other features, e.g. menubar, toolbar, etc. and they would show up. As of v.76.0 this is no longer true. The parameters are ignored. If we use no parameters, the menubar, etc. do show, but we can't control any new window features. We have not changed our programs at all, and window.open() parameters still work correctly in Chrome, Brave, Edge, etc. How do we get Firefox to recognize the window.open() parameters (again)?

Running Firefox 98.0.2 (64-bit) Mac OS Monterey 12.2.1 (21D62)

Many websites are not loading at all or taking many minutes to load (bankofamerica.com, maps.google.com, etc.) Maps.google.com does not even load on Firefox.

Usually indicates 'waiting for fonts.google.' in the lower left hand corner, but site never loads. This is happening more frequently, on more and more websites.

Google Chrome has 0 issues loading the same websites. Firefox specific issue independent of ISP. Tried restarting, updating, etc. No luck.

As the title says, I cannot get MP4 files to play in Firefox, which renders several websites unusable. These sites work in Edge just fine, but I cannot get them to work in my preferred browser. Everything is up to date, and I have all the codecs I could ever need installed, as well as the Windows N Media Feature Pack. The browser has been tested several times in troubleshooting mode, and I've even gone as far as running Windows in safe mode with networking to try to isolate the issue. I cannot get it to work at all. This is the 2nd device I've had this issue on, and it's driving me up a wall.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone,

Up until the latest FF release, opening an .ics (calendar file) link defaulted to the OS's preferred application; in my case Outlook. Now, every time I click on an .ics link FF asks where I want to save the file. I schedule ZOOM meetings all day and heavily rely on this feature.

I tried looking in FF's Files and Applications section in settings and .ics is not even listed as a file extension. I don't know how to add it.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Firefox tabs crash repeatedly for a particular email website that I am using. Specifically, the tab crashes when I click on an link to open an email and see the email contents. The tab will not crash every single time, just occasionally (i.e. sometimes I am able to read an email without the tab crashing, other times not). I do not think that the timing of the crashing has anything to do with the email contents (e.g. length, format). I also do not think that the tab crashing issue is happening for any other websites. The crashing started recently, sometime late December.

I installed the latest version of Firefox, and I cleared the web cache, but nothing has changed.

Any suggestions?

Once it has loaded the website(s) it functions completely normally

As the solution in that thread was a full format I'm reopening this to find a more precise solution.

I tried everything on that thread without success. Deactivated every plug-in and the problem persist. Running in safe-mode corrects the problem.

Hi everyone,

I have the problem in the Subject line. FF sucks about 500 MB to be run, on top of which it takes 500 MB per tab, and that makes it impossible to run a research on my 8 GB Mac. Yesterday I was looking for a lamp and had no more than 7 tabs open, 3 of which were largely text, 2 were online shops, and 1-2 were websites with pictures. No Facebook or social media, no YouTube. FF froze, made the whole Mac freeze (well, Mac is garbage nowadays but let's leave that out of this topic), and I had to wait MINUTES before I could close it, because the computer was nonreactive.

When I check online, I see people being like "why can't it manage more than 50 tabs?". 50?!?! My computer dies with a maximum of 10 when it's only text websites!

So, I guess there's something wrong with this.

- I don't have many extensions (SimilarWeb, VPN, and Flash Player), I always use incognito so I can't use the plugin that allows me to use several accounts at the same time, so I can't see what's messing with my Mac. - The Activity Monitor (pretty much Task Manager on Windows) shows "FirefoxCP Isolated Web Content" for each tab, could that have anything to do with my problem? - CPU usage is very low, some 0.5 to 10% max during heavy use. - I seem to remember I used to have dozens of tabs open in the past, although I can't be sure. Is this a recent problem?

I really hope there's a way to solve this, because now I always fear that opening FF while on a Zoom meeting might freeze the whole thing.

Thanks to anyone who might want to shed some light on this big problem.

Screenshots: RAM and CPU usage with 2 tabs open. Two, taking more than 1 GB of RAM and about 250 threads in total? While using 0.2% of the CPU? I'm lost

OS: Ubuntu 21.04 x86_64 CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X (16) @ 3.600GHz GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER

When I have two windows running and one of them is playing either audio or video on its active tab, the other window runs at a very low FPS. This is noticeable when scrolling, as CPU usage appears to increase dramatically while monitored.

The problem does not appear when running firefox in safe mode, but I cannot determine what might be causing the problem when firefox runs normally: the problem persists when I disable all extensions, as well as when I use the browser's default appearance as opposed to the theme of my choice. As far as I can tell, I have not modified any about:config settings either, although some cursory searching online suggests webrender may be a cause.

I've posted this problem before and did receive replies attempting to help. Unfortunately, the problem has continued for a long time (I think at least a year). I frequently can't access websites (e.g. Yahoo Mail) using Firefox but can using Edge or Brave. With Firefox, I get the following error message:

"Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to login.yahoo.com. PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem."

I had hoped that the problem would be solved by a Firefox update but that has not happened.

I also regularly get the message "No Internet Connection" while using Firefox but, when I use Edge or Brave while the error message is displayed, there is Internet connection.

I'm using the latest versions of Firefox and Windows 10 Pro.

I've used Firefox for many years and really don't want to have to switch to, say, Brave.

I have tried disabling add-ons/ exensions, disabling auto-fill, downgrading security, reinstalling (even the ESR edition), deleting Firefox files from the library/application_support - but it doesn't simply work. Not sure if this is an OS issue.
