FF updated yesterday with the new Ubuntu 22.04 (Pop) update to 99.01. Since the update the volume control inputs are essentially disabled on all web sites, and they default to max - even when muted.

Example - youtube - all videos play full volume Reddit - even muted videos play full volume

The volume can now only be controlled by the system slider.

The same behavior does not occur in other browsers - e.g. Chromium, Opera, etc.

Can anyone assist?

Not sure when it began, probably before the current version, i.e. it's not related to the latest update. When exiting, everything seems fine at first but then Crash Reporter pops up. If I try to restart my Windows/PC with FF open, the restarting becomes blocked by Firefox, so I have to cancel the restart and deal with Crash Reporter first.

The same crash happens in Troubleshoot Mode.

I don't have any special security software (aside from Malwarebytes with real-time protection disabled).

Signature is different (almost) every time but as far as I remember no crash felt any different from the two crashes above. I always use private browsing so I thought that my history was totally not being saved, but discovered recently that when I started to type within the search field, that many of my past searches were listed in the search field with the type highlighted in purple. I had to manually go in and delete all of these past searches. I don't want any search history to be saved. Is there a setting in preferences that I'm somehow missing? Why is Firefox saving these past searches if I have it set to Always Use Private Browsing?

Hi, I tried to download a script but Firefox warned me it had a virus / malware. So I immediately put it in trash, emptied trash, restarted my Macbook and used Bitdefender to scan my Mac. Fortunately it detected no viruses. So I think I'm good (Hopefully!)

But, every time I open Firefox now, a little window appears at the top showing my last download and telling me it had a virus or malware - I'm posting a screenshot of this. I removed it from my history, and cleared the preview panel, but it still pops up. To be clear, this only happens when I completely close Firefox and reopen it, not when I just open new windows or tabs.

How can I get it to stop popping up with this message? Also - one other oddity, each time I open Firefox, it says the time this script was downloaded matches the time I open Firefox (as opposed to when I actually downloaded the pdf - about an hour ago)

On the page: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/manage-downloads-preferences-using-downloads-menu#w_downloads-panel-automatically-opens it says: "Downloads panel automatically opens" "Every time you start a download, Firefox will automatically bring up the Downloads panel by default, . . . "

It never used to do that ! Having the Downloads panel drop down and just sit there covering a large part of the page every time I save a little picture is an extreme nuisance ! How do I prevent it from happening ? Please help ! Many thanks !

I don't know if this is a problem with my installation, but websites without specific favicons (e.g.: https://forum.librivox.org/index.php?sid=fd7dca1ba59c207dd25121695677d565) don't have a placeholder icon in the tab. Is this intended behavior? There's the globe icon for bookmarks without favicons, couldn't that be used if a website doesn't have one? I think that would contribute to some visual consistency :)

I have looked across various support forums for information on this, I only see posts regarding favicons and bookmarks, not the tab itself, so apologies if this has been asked and answered already!

I am using a Mac and have no idea what this is or how to turn it off, image attached it comes up down the bottom of the taskbar even when firefox is not running. Thanks

It appears web sites can track my activity on their site. How do I make it so a given web site can't track me? Does Firefox have a setting that makes it more difficult to track me on a given web site? I've seen where a VPN, not sure what that is, can be of big help. How do I initiate a VPN and are there free VPN's? When I visit this particular site it states, "from your site login activity" and goes on from there what they want to do. How do I make it more difficult for a web site to be able to track my log in activity? Will a VPN solve this problem? Or, does Firefox have various accessories that can do the same thing? I know deleting cookies with this particular site does not solve the issue for me. Can someone help? Thank you.

My google drive keeps disconnecting, and google drive/google docs links are not working. I have attached a screenshot of the new tab page when I copy paste a google sheets document URL into the search bar and hit enter. After the reloading icon animates, I stay on the new tab page and the url just sits there. The debug console shows 1 GET request that is timed out (picture also attached).

I can fix the issue by completely closing all firefox windows and opening again, but it will disconnect me after some minutes.

I wonder why the latest browser does not have a Home Button.It is easier to close the blank browser with the Home Button.Closing the blank browser helps the system restart smoothly in the next session.

When playing music on music.youtube.com, if I navigate away from the tab, by either moving to a different tab or opening a different application the music pauses. This happens consistently with two different Firefox profiles.

I admittedly have a quite a few plugins installed, so I tested this in a private window and this issue does not occur.

I attempted disabling the obvious plugins UBlock, 'I don't care about cookies', and Tampermonkey without any success. I also tried using a different user-agent without any success.

I am trying to transfer my bookmarks, open tabs and passwords etc. from my old laptop to my new one. It appears I have to do this with Firefox Sync under the preferences menu. However when I try to connect a new device, I am told to open the code scanner on my Firefox App, which sounds like I have to use a mobile? How do I scan the QR code using my new laptop?

I had been using Firefox browser for awhile, but because of playback performance issue, I have to using another browser just for video playing, especially for 4K video.

Compared to Edge, Firefox seems taking more resources to playback the YouTube video and more heat. When look at the Task Manager, the Video Processing is 0%, and GPU is running significantly more resources on '3D'.

On my old (Intel based) MacPro Zoho email works fine. On my new M1 chip MacPro when I first open Zoho, or open an email, the page does not render properly at first (buttons/links don't work etc). After a delay it refreshes and shows properly. The delay depends on how fast my internet is - in the evening it can be a minute or so. Even when the internet is good I still get 2 versions of a page with a pause in between.

I tried on Safari and it works fine - which makes me think this is a Firefox issue.

I have some screen shots but when I click the browse button below I can select a file then it just endlessly shows working. I will have to email these to you separately

In the parameters, I chose to let Firefox ask me every time what to do with PDF files. But, when the window pop up and I click "Open with ... Firefox", the browser download and open with Firefox the PDF instead of only showing it in Firefox. When I set the "Open with firefox" by default in the parameters, Firefox will this time directly open the PDF in the browser instead of downloading it.

Are you aware of this bug ? Is there a solution ?

Each time Firefox updates, the email client changes to the outlook default. The last 2-3 updates, mailto does not appear on the file,settings,applications menu. Nor will it populate if I type it in. I have tried every instruction to no avail. I am a long-time firefox user, non-techie and it is discouraging when things disappear with each update lately. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

I'm using Ubuntu 18.04. Developer tools kept popping up so I went into about:config & set everything to false. Now an equally annoying tab keeps opening up asking to enable them. I don't just get this hitting F12. Just like before I disabled, this keeps popping up for seemingly no reason. Guess I'm accidentally doing something with the mouse. I don't have a clue how to use developer tools. Wish I could just wipe it out completely.

Many of my bookmarks are corrupted. They point to other websites, not the bookmarked one. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a fix? Thanks for any info/advice. George

I work on kubuntu 20.04 with plasma 5.18.8 desktop environment. I have a QtCurve-based custom application style, which I almost match with css for GTK apps. Firefox has to be an exception by itself! Not only that, but it changes my ability to customize its interface, from time to time and even changes access to such ability, on some updates.

My scrollbar customizations in userChrome.css and userContent.css do not work any more (other CSS changes still work, for menu/addressbar/tabbar/bookmarksbar orderint and tab styling). I had to resort to settings in user.js file, to get a 20px width scrollbar, suitable for my big screen, but... it gets very wide when I increase the focus, on some webpages and becomes very ugly! Furthermore, I cannot make sense of the proper use of "ui.themedScrollbar*" settings and the scrollbar and its slider result in the same color. These are my settings in user.js:

Either with the "ui.themedScrollbar*" settings or without them (and cleared from the prefs.js file), the scrollbar and its slider result in the same color, unless I (tryingly) click on some place on the scrollbar outside its slider; then I can see the slider, _only_ for the duration of the mouse-down event (which causes up or down page-hight scrolling).

The default, very thin scrollbar, as well as my modified wide scrollbar with invisible slider are both useless to me! I have even tried fx-autoconfig (https://github.com/MrOtherGuy/fx-autoconfig) to make the scrollbar CSS work, but no result. At this point, I am considering switching to another browser, despite the trust I have to mozilla, for my data and privacy.
