Hello, I was trying to work on an assignment today and I found to my dismay that downloading images causes firefox to freeze (which I then have to kill).

I was unable to find a solution that could work for me in the forums. What should I do? I do not have any malware on my computer, though I do have autodesk programs.

Thank you for your time.

Suddenly last week my PDFs started printing much smaller than normal. A letter size page prints about 6x9 instead of 8.5 x 11. Today I discovered that the same pages print fine in Chrome. Is there a known issue printing PDF files in Firefox? Is it being worked on? I love the browser and I refuse to use Chrome, but this is a big problem.

Hi all,

There is a recurring error annoying me, every two days (more or less), I get the message below, then it is needed to create new profile and configure it again. Firefox version: 77.0.1 (64-bits) SO: Windows 10

English You have released an older version of Firefox Using an older version of Firefox can corrupt bookmarks and browsing history already saved in an existing Firefox profile. To protect your information, create a new profile for this installation of Firefox.

'Português (my installation) Você lançou uma versão mais antiga do Firefox Usar uma versão mais antiga do Firefox pode corromper favoritos e o histórico de navegação já salvos em um perfil existente do Firefox. Para proteger suas informações, crie um novo perfil para esta instalação do Firefox.'

How can I fix it? I already have reinstalled it several times.

Thanks and regards, Marcos

The new version of Firefox has removed the drop-down arrow from the address bar, a feature I use several times a day.

Previously, there was a way to restore this by setting a number of "browser.urlbar" options to "False." However, these are currently set at False.

Please advise. Without the drop-down arrow, Firefox is not useful at all.

How can I always-show the Sound Icon that appears in tabs? The default behavior is -> "if sound then show icon, if silence then hide icon". Desired behavior is -> "always show icon". Or even, "always allow mute with unMute".

Why? Because the "unMute" addon I use can't mute unless sound is detected and/or the icon is showing.

Open to any viable solution, css or otherwise.

thnx ahead of time.

cheers!

I am unable to log into any web sites that need the user. The web site keeps asking for my password which is fine except that up until last Friday (June 26th) the web site would recognize me as a valid user and I could go straight in. I just tested it on Microsoft Edge and the web sites are recognizing me. I cleared the Firefox cache last Friday and it probably has something to do with it. Is there a way to fix this? I'd prefer not to use Edge.

Why is the 78.0.1 download for MacOS called "Firefox 78.0.1esr.dmg" and not "Firefox 78.0.1.dmg"?

The download dialogue (image attached) that appeared said that it wanted to download "Firefox 78.0.1esr.dmg". The "esr" in the filename surprised me, as I'm not on any ESR release train. Why is it named that and not "Firefox 78.0.1.dmg", similar to its predecessors?

I am running FF 77.0.1. This has been an issue for awhile however. In Options, under Applications/PDF, there is no Preview in Firefox option. I've tried quitting FF, renaming/moving handlers.json; but on re-opening the relevant section remains the same(action=0). I discovered about:config pdfjs.disable=false, previously it was set to true. Then in Options/Applications/PDF, "Firefox" is an option to open, and the action=3 in handlers.json, however the behavior of downloaded pdfs is the same (downloaded). (This is trying example pdfs from different sites). I've tried changing about:config security.cps.enable=false, no change. I've also seen a plugin to "fix content types" that shows up on this site, but it didn't change anything. From what I gather, action=3 should be Preview in Firefox, not Firefox, and all pdfs are being downloaded. Is there a way to fix this? Not seeing pdfs in browser is significantly annoying.

I have been using firefox since forever and have grown quite accustomed to things being where they have been for the past x years but lately firefox has developed a frustrating tendancy to delete youtube from the dropdown box that appears when clicking the address bar (formerly accessible via the down arrow in the addy bar)

I do not know why it does this, youtube is my most visited website and it vanishing off that bar demanding i manually type youtube to access it is terrible and very anoying. I'm pretty much stuck now reloading youtube hundreds if not thousands of times untill it finally reappears there (already reloaded the homepage about 100 times and its still not back in the list)

So i see people asking how to remove things from there, I need to know a simpler way to ADD things to there. Or better yet a fix so that my most viewed website no longer deletes itself from the TOP of the list

I have added an image of the list as it is now, normally youtube would be at the top, for obvious reasons, instead as of today WHILE firefox has been running, its been removed, Certain sites have been blacked out for obvious privacy reasons

I'm downloading lots of JSON files on day-to-day basis and I'm tired of selection download action because FF doesn't have a "remember" checkbox for it (see image below).

You can reproduce it: go to any site that allows you to download jsons, e.g. https://petstore.swagger.io/#/pet/findPetsByStatus

If you execute any request there will be a `Download` button If you click it you will see a popup similar to attached one: no "remember" checkbox.

How do I make it remember my choice?

My FF version is 77.0.1 (64-bit), Windows 10 2004.

Clicking on hyperlinks that are in external documents (Word, Excel, or any other) opens webpages in separate Firefox windows outside of the main open Firefox window that reflects all of my customized Firefox settings. These separate window open with Firefox, as is the set default browser; however, none of these separate windows carry over my custom Firefox setting, styles, etc. Also, their tabs cannot be dragged into the main Firefox window as a tab there.

I've checked all of my Firefox settings and the support knowledge base, where nothing was found that addresses this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Firefox community

I use Firefox as my primary browser on 5 devices - personal desktop, work laptop, spouse desktop, spouse laptop, and personal laptop. On only my personal laptop, I frequently encounter SSL cert errors warning me of invalid issuer. I don't encounter the same error on any other device (including also my phones). Is there some way I can force an update of the Firefox certificate repository? I assume these are being caused by out of date cert repositories or the like. The cert I get on the other devices is the same cert presented to this laptop; only the laptop issues the error.

Normally, if I click a pdf file on-line, I get the question to open or save. If I choose open, I get a separate pdf file in my Windows task bar to open. Yesterday, this behavior was different. The PDF file became a little icon in the bottom left of my screen, and when I clicked that it opened the pdf in a browser tab. Today this is gone and it is back to its old way. I prefer the tab. Do you know why this happened or how to get that back?

I was trying to attach a jpg into an email using Gmail on Firefox. One of my attachments would not load, no matter how I tried. I then read there is a PROBLEM with Gmail and Firefox as regards attachments. Is that the case? The attachment sent fine in Chrome.

So I followed instructions and did a "refresh" of Firefox. Now I lost my previous session restore, and a plug-in/extension that I was using and liked.

It put a list view to the left of the window that showed me all open tabs, and on which each listing could be clicked to go instantly to that tab. I can't remember what the name of that extension is, and, again, it has disappeared.

I don't want to switch back to Chrome because it's a memory hog, but this behavior from Firefox is frustrating. Is there anyone who can help?

Thanks, Gary Stockdale
