The problem started when I got back from travel about 4 days ago. I was gone for two weeks and used my tablet when on travel. Now whenever I try firefox on desktop PC, it runs very slowly and almost all websites will return the following error message: "The requested URL could not be retrieved" - I had to try half a day before I could finally get to the mozilla support page and refresh. That worked for a short time - but the next day, the same problem - so I refreshed again - worked for a short time, and then the same problem. Today - it didn't work at all - It took a half a day to get mozilla support to work again - but no other websites are currently accessible. My desktop uses Window 7

My last update was 4/21. Since then my tabs are disappearing from view when I open multiple pages. If I move my cursor to the top of the page, they reappear. I am wondering if this was part of the update? It temporarily allows you to view a bit more of the page I am viewing, but if this is supposed to be an advantage...it is NOT. I like to be able to see what tabs I have open and not have to scroll to the top of the page every time. Please help me correct or change this...thank you.

Ever since Firefox made Youtube videos only play in HTML5, no matter what quality setting I have on the video I'm watching, when I view the video on fullscreen it has low framerate. This problem does not happen with other video sites that uses Flash, like Twitch, Blip, or Dailymotion.

Is it software related to the browser or hardware related with it being HTML5?

When using Firefox—and wanting to print the article, Click File, Print Preview and you'll see the HEADER and FOOTER jammed against the TOP and BOTTOM of the page. Typically these headers and footers drop off the page when printed. Using "Page Setup", I can adjust the top and bottom MARGINS, but that DOES NOT adjust where the HEADER AND FOOTER ARE PLACED! Frustrating.

SO, how do I adjust the placement of the HEADER and FOOTER? Their placement is NOT an issue on Google Chrome, so this appears to be browser related.

Thanks

Is there a way to do this. Many legitimate downloads are blocked by this behaviour.

Why isn't the download stopped the moment it is initiated? (spend hours downloading legitimate files and documents only to realize firefox deletes them without any user intervention) and why is there no option to recover the download?

So far the only way to fix this issue seems to be:

a) use a different browser b) systematically lower the security settings for the browser to download a file then re-enable the options (browser.safebrowsing.enabled and browser.safebrowsing.malware.enabled)

Thank you for your time.

This morning, there was a message that firefox needed to be updated. Since I don't like (or use) Google Chrome or IE, I unchecked those options as part of the update. Once the update was completed, all of my bookmarks and folders were gone. Is there ANY way to either recover the missing items OR restore/roll back to the firefox browser I was already using?

I'm a web developer, and I've been working on creating a site ( http://mythicalslab.x10host.com/ ). On the site I have some javascript that handles displaying a div with a loading animation on it. In script html tags, I have two function defined, hideLoading() and showLoading() which respectively show and hide the loading animation.

If I go into the Javascript console in Firefox, and either type hideLoading() or showLoading(), the console says "undefined", but it still runs the function correctly.

If you want to check this put for yourself, go to my homepage ( http://mythicalslab.x10host.com/ ) and type showLoading() in the dev console, and you'll see it will run the function and show the loading animation, while saying it is undefined.

I'm running Firefox 37.0.2 on a Mac 10.9.5. The search tab was there when I first started to try to get rid of yahoo and have google as my default search on the tool bar, but now Search won't show its own content. If I click on "general" first, for example and then click on "search", none of the information on the Search tab changes - it is as if it is still General. If I click on applications, and then search, search will show the same information as is under applications - and so on. Another tab that acts the same is "Tab", therefore both Search and Tab aren't functioning.

Thanks for the help,

It seems the ability to set the number of months (or weeks) for history data that will be remembered is absent from the history section of Firefox options. Is there a more indirect way to set how much History Firefox will remember, perhaps from about:config or so?

And secondarily, how much history *does* Firefox remember when I check "remember history"? I cannot find where that is specified. I assumed it remembered every site I've ever visited, but looking back in the "Older than 6 months" folder in History, I see that is not the case. There are only a few dozen sites there, while there should be hundreds (since I think I have never deleted History for about 2 years).

I've noticed recently that Firefox stopped playing YouTube videos and showing only black screen where supposed to be a video. So after a lot of research, many people claimed that this is flash player problem. I tried to install earlier version but that didn't change anything. So I uninstalled Firefox and downloaded older, but stable version (34.0.5). And voila! YouTube shows videos again. After a week I noticed that YouTube again shows black screen box. Unintentionally, I opened Revo Uninstall and saw that there's TWO Firefoxes installed - one is that I personally installed and another is newest Firefox 37.0.2. So I uninstalled latest Firefox, but unfortunately it also uninstalled my older version Firefox. So this time I again installed older Firefox (34.0.5) and made that it never look for updates and won't install them. YouTube started to play well. After a few days, again Youtube doesn't show videos, only sound plays, and you can see actual video frames by pointing cursor on video time line. So I checked installed applications and AGAIN found mysteriously installed latest Firefox with the old one. So can anybody help me to stop latest Firefox automatic installation and only leave the old one? Any solution would be very appreciated.

To verify my identity, my financial website will send me a code to enter when I try to log in to the site. This happens with a new computer or if I change browsers. When I use Internet Explorer, I only do this one time and the site recognizes me for each subsequent log in. With Firefox, I have to ask for a code every time to verify who I am and it is frustrating. I don't know why the site can't remember my computer under Firefox but it will under Internet Explorer. Also Firefox is one of the browsers recommended by the financial institution. I am guessing that there is something in Firefox that I much change to prevent this but I haven't a clue.
