When I'd like to navigate to another site, and type the new address over the existing page address, only with a single click on the address Windows version nicely takes focus and marks the whole text so overwrite is easy, while with Linux version I need to mark and delete the existing address to overwite. I feel it really uncomfortable when my current location has very long address.

Windows version is XP and Linux is Ubuntu 11.04. Same behaviour with Firefox 3 and Firefox 4.

Hi all, 1st time 4 me on these forums. Well, straight 2 the topic.

I'm using version 3.6.17 since i didn't like version four. In Options=>Advanced=>Network, there's a section called "Offline Storage", I think that's the one that handles storing webpage data so that it opens faster the next time u open it, similar to "temporary files" in IE, right? Well its "usually" not working for me, & I figured it out from two reasons.

First, the "Exceptions" are empty & the box at the bottom (not the exceptions box) which is supposed 2 list the websites storing data is also empty, second, pages r actually not opening fast, I can see all the components (frames, images etc...) being loaded like its the first time i'm opening it.

But I would like to clarify, I said "usually" in my 1st paragraph, why? because even though the settings doesn't say i'm storing any data, I notice a few sites that r actually being loaded fast. Only "some" sites, while the rest of them r actually loaded like new every time.

I'm not bad in computer stuff but I'm clueless on this, I hope u can help me out, I'll be glad 2 do any diagnostics if needed.

For the last few months since I updated Firefox last when I do a google search mostly but sometimes from other links too it happens. I click on a link and more than half the time it redirects me to virus, pirate, gambling or porn websites. Ive tried to find a worm or malware with all known antivirus-anti spyware programs but nothing. I know it must be malware or trojan but can you tell me are you aware of it and if so how can I get rid of it. I prefer to use Firefox to Chrome but it doesnt happen on Chrome so it must be a Firefox specific problem

All the financial websites I use (TD Ameritrade, SunTrust bank, AmEx, etc.) allow me to download monthly statements in pdf. These used to be direct links to a pdf file, which could either be downloaded or viewed directly in Firefox. Now they're javascripts that probably formulate the pdf file on the fly from records, then download. I get a garbage file on my desktop instead. In IE, the javascript triggers a query to view or download. In Firefox, I believe there is a flash of a window that pops up, then nothing. I've tried disabling AdBlocker and have the sites listed to allow pop-ups, so that's not it.

OK, so Firefox does not manage to block it although I have this option checked in Tools/Settings/Content. But why can I not enter the URL of the groupon ad and manually block it? I can allow pop-ups from sites of my choice in Tools/Settings/Content, I think I should also be able to block sites?

I was running Firefox 3 on my system (do not remember which specific version now), and due to all the nags about that version being out of date, I decided it was finally time to upgrade. I installed v25, and suddenly found I could not load web pages. I tried all the support documents I could find, but none of them helped. I installed v24 instead, but same issue.

I removed Firefox and installed using 3.6.17, which I had downloaded previously just in case of problems with the upgrade, and Firefox works again. I have not tried any versions in between yet, so I do not know which version these issues start with, but I know it is tied to 24 and 25 at least.

Firefox is claiming that the site 'wimdu' holds an untrsuted connection. However, I think this may be a misunderstanding and therefore I suggest you work with this site to find out wheather ot not it is trusted. The reason I believe it could be a misunderstanding is due to the information provided as the problem is that firefox says that the site does not hold a suitable certificate but the site 'www.wimdu.com' does. I understand that this website is used around the world which is partly why I am confused as firefox says the '.co.uk' site can not be trusted. I have coopied some of the informaion provided by mozilla :

You have asked Firefox to connect securely to www.wimdu.co.uk, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.

Normally, when you try to connect securely, sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.

www.wimdu.co.uk uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is only valid for the following names:

 *.wimdu.com , wimdu.com

(Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

In addition, this information is shown when I click 'Book it' on the site of wimdu.co.uk. Please sort this out and notify me about wheather or not I can trust this website with issues regarding money.

I go to Slate.com for my daily news fix. Slate periodically refreshes the page (every 5 minutes?) and this is very annoying, especially when I am nearly at the bottom and the refresh takes me to the top again. How can I disable the auto refresh?

Issue 2 with Slate.com: At the top of the Slate home page there is bar with the words Briefing, News & Politics, Arts, Life, etc, etc. What drives me almost insane is that when my mouse cursor travels over one of these words a pop up pull down menu instantly appears and of course blocks what I may be trying to view. I need to maneuver the mouse to make the always unwanted pop up menu disappear.

It is obvious why this bar was strategically placed at the top of the page. Slate hopes to attract users to reading additional topics. I think we should have a choice to disable this pop-up.

In summary, is there a way of disabling:

1. the auto page refresh

2. disabling pop-up windows when the mouse cursor passes over words coded to react in this manner.

I believe we the users should be in control what features we want active or not.

I use and have explored NoScript and AdBlock for solutions but no luck so far.

Thanks.
