previous versions of firefox have either shown the firefox logo or the company's logo to the left of the address. now there is a grayed out globe. is this safe to use/how do i fix this?

My thumbnail tabs were working great until I installed the Mystart toolbar.

I removed the toolbar via add-ons but it still hi-jacked my homepage and page displayed when I opened a new tab. I used the About:config method, described here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/930367#answer-349504 to resolve that problem.

The remaining problem is when I open a new tab, it opens to a blank page just like Firefox used to. I would like the thumbnail option back as I found it very useful.

Only in Firefox does "Norton ConnectSafe" take over my searches. I type something into the address line and then it comes up saying it can't find anything and forces me to type the exact same thing into their line. They then use Google to find the answer. I want to get rid of this unwanted step. Don't know how Norton hijacked my computer...never have used their products. It doesn't show in addons, programs, search engines. I went to their website and they gave instructions on how to remove but that was garbage. I was supposed to change my dns to accepted from ISP (which it was already set correct - on 4 and 6). This is annoying enough to stop using Firefox. Why is this browser so easily hijacked? Had another one take over a couple months ago.  :(

I can physically go to google search box but I like to type in the address line.

So, I don't know if this is a problem with one site or Facebook in general, but everytime I access this site, a download window for "like.php" appears four times in a row. I've seen the same problems in this forums when I searched for it, but none of them provided a final answer. By the way, I formated my PC some weeks ago and the problem happened before it, so it can't be cache, history or something like that.

This may be about "Do Not Track" and/or other privacy extensions that I use. If it's not possible a solution now, could anyone explain why this happens? Is it because of the site, Facebook, Firefox, settings or extensions?

Not just on the toolbar, but ALL bookmark icons. I hate them. Don't need them.

Is there a simple setting somewhere in Firefox to handle this? If not, perhaps it might be something they'd consider adding in the future to turn them off in the options or something?

The only thing I've seen so far here is an add-on that removes them from the toolbar. I want them all gone from all bookmark menus and prefer not to have to install further 3rd party apps to get this done.

I don't want to get the secure site warning on a simple Google search...is there an about:config? And I don't want to turn the pop-up warning off, as I prefer that to having to keep checking the address bar.

I have just updated to the newest version of firefox and now whenever I visit a secure website I am told it is an untrusted connection and have to add an exception to visit it. When viewing the certificate it states it cannot be verified for unknown reasons.

This is happening with all websites including reputable sites like Google or Facebook.

I did as instructed (went into config found the browsernewtaburl changed what I wanted it to open) and it didn't change new tabs to my homepage. it stayed exactly the same as it was

When I opened a new tab my Speed Dial used to be there. Now when I open a new tab Yahoo search is there. Is there a way to get Speed Dial back when I open a new tab?

Amazon home page loads perfectly, but Amazon secure pages (e.g. after I log-in, or after I move from selecting the items to go to checkout) do not show images. I have tried all the ideas on your help page and followed the ideas from others who had similar problems. i.e: - clearing history and caches; setting to have no history; and clearing network cache. - I have checked that images are not blocked - none of them are greyed out. - I have switched Kaspersky internet security off. - I have been through all the Option>Settings and checked that they are the same as on my Acer notebook which loads all pages perfectly. The Amazon and Marks and Spencer pages load perfectly using Internet Explorer on this computer, which is a Toshiba Satellite L505 running Windows 7. This is only a problem with Firefox and only since recent “upgrades”. It worked fine before. I cannot see what else to try

I regret that I checked the option of always using live bookmarks for my RSS feeds. Now I want to use bloglines but when I click the RSS feed to add it to bloglines, live bookmarks pops up and I can't get the feed in order to add it to bloglines. I'm so frustrated I'm seeing red.

I made the mistake of clicking "check for updates" because it instead downloaded the update. I have my settings set to "check for updates but let me choose whether to install them" but the "Check for Updates" button does not allow me to choose... they're downloaded immediately.

This is a serious violation of my trust in Firefox and I will not allow these updates to be installed. If I can't stop them... I will uninstall Firefox and wash my hands of Mozilla permanently.

Firefox 14.0.1 Mac OS X 10.7.5

When I open a new tab, there are three certain preview thumbnails which are always empty, and there is no way I can make them show up again. They did work in the beginning, but at some time the three previews vanished and never came back. I have already tried to empy the cache and reload the sites as suggested here, but the thumbs are still empty. It's always the same three URLs where this happens. I have also cleared the history, opened the sites again and dragged the items from the history menu into a thumbnail - same result.

I'm using Firefox 14.0.1 on a mac OSX 10.6.8. I was on Google Maps and tried to use Google Earth but it said I needed to download the plug-in. I did this and it appears in the Internet Plug-ins folder but does not appear in the Add-ons Manager page. I've restarted FF and computer and also deleted the plug-in and redownloaded it but still when I go to Google Maps it says I still need to download it. It works in Chrome and Safari. What am I doing wrong?

When I type keywords into the address bar, it used to return a list of google search results. Now, it returns "The address isn't valid". I know I can use the search bar to search google, but the ability to search keywords straight from the address bar is my number one favourite feature of Firefox and I want it back.

The problem started after I returned the keyword.URL setting in about:config to default after it was maliciously changed to some Russian search/spam site, which also added a bunch of useless links to my bookmarks bar. This is the second time this has happened, no idea how, but the first time I fixed it the address bar search started working again right away.

I have not installed any new plugins or add-ons recently.

I have checked that keyword.enabled is set to true, and keyword.URL is blank, which are the default settings. Are there any other settings that might have been changed/that I should change to make this work again?

I had to uninstall my McAfee virus software and when I went to download to reinstall the saved/download file just disappears. I have changed settings per some previous posts, I have tried new destinations on my computer, I have restarted, I have disabled all add-ons, nothing seems to work. I have tried to install a new browser (Google Chrome) just to see if that works but I can't install that either since the download file disappears and I can't install anything! I even ran a search of my C: drive looking for any and all files that I have downloaded in last 2 days and it doesn't find anything. The saves are just going into the abyss! What can I do? How can I fix?
