How To Make mozilla.cfg, override.ini, all-companyname.js, Files To Work Once And For All For All Users

I'm currently trying to apply a fix to the firefox browser (version 23.0.1) on over 250 computers. Setting default webpages, disabling annoying prompts like the default browser and importing bookmarks, and erasing the history on shutdown, or startup. This is very easily done modifying the pref.js file, but I will not edit that file, it's out of the question. Another FF update will erase or overwrite all of my modifications.

I run a computer lab in the university that is locked down using a Net Support School console. You don't need to look that up. Basically all websites are restricted except the ones the ones I whitelist. The websites we use have extensive API's for JS, CSS, Java, PHP, etc... We utilize technology in order for students to use graphing calculators, video's, and taking module test from these white-listed websites, like Pearson, or Aleks. Now with that said, cookies, and stored profile history become a problem, and on some day's up to 25% of the students using the computers need their entire history deleted in order for a page to load. I think I fixed this problem permanently by whitelisting backend sites importing plugins, and API's etc, that I found from the developers console. Whatever. What I've learned from all of this is that Firefox can be very customizable utilizing the "...\Mozilla Firefox\mozilla.cfg" and the "...\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\prefs\all-companyname.js" (or custom.js) The problem, is no matter what I try I can't get these to work. The closest I got was here:

http://www.intrntpirate.com/?p=615

Again, even that ^^ didn't work. I followed these directions to a "T". What is wrong with the above information provided in the link? Why is firefox making harder and harder for us to optimize it for massive deployments across a corporation and a university? I'm not going to do any fancy hacks to avoid the main issue. I need mozilla.cfg, and the all-companyname.js, and the override.ini files to work, if and only if they are still relevant.

These are what my files look like so far:

name: all-lmc.js
location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\defaults\pref\
pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg");
pref("browser.startup.homepage", "https://(some url)");

name: override.ini
location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\
[XRE]
EnableProfileMigrator=false

name: mozilla.cfg
location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\
//
lockPref("privacy.sanitize.sanitizeOnShutdown", true);
lockPref("privacy.sanitize.promptOnSanitize", false);
lockPref("browser.shell.checkDefaultBrowser", false);
lockPref("toolkit.telemetry.enabled", false);
lockPref("toolkit.telemetry.prompted", 2);
lockPref("toolkit.telemetry.rejected", true);

I've tried using, and not using, the automatic mozilla configurator. I've tried changing lockPref to pref. Nothing works. Not the override.ini, not the all-lmc.js, and not the mozilla.cfg. I've wasted hours reading through blogs of experts telling us to modify files that don't exist, or beating around the bush. I'm done researching. If you have the answer or want to help me figure this out just remember to keep it simple. Please. I ultimately want to package all the config files, with a how to, in a zip folder onto our shared drive. To have FF customized and ready to deploy to different departments across campus.

How to switch from 64-bit to 32-bit Firefox on Windows 10 Home

I want to uninstall FF 64-bit and install FF 32-bit (because I want to use addons, like ADBlocker Plus, and they won't install - or worse install but not show up - in FF 64-bit).

1) I go to https://www.mozilla.org, which becomes https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/ . I click "Firefox" and I am at https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/new/ .

2) I click "Firefox for Other Platforms and Languages" and I get a dialog where I click "Windows 32-bit". I get "Firefox Installer.exe".

3) I close and uninstall FF 64-bit from Control Panel.

4) I run that exe and after the install process I do have FF again, but it's still the 64-bit version. It has even remembered my session and bookmarks and I am even still logged in to sites I was logged in to before uninstalling (those for which I had asked to be kept logged in of course).

I tried that same process many times, by downloading FF with FF itself and with other browsers. I have even unistalled a "Mozilla Maintenance Service" I found installed in Control Panel, in case it was it that was forcing the wrong version to be installed, but no.

I also tried to click "Available languages" in the dialog at point 2, clicked on "Download" at row "English (British)" and column "Windows" (NOT the "Windows 64-bit" at its right), that gave me "Firefox Setup 55.0.2.exe", but this installer too produces the same result (I end up with the 64-bit version again).

No error messages ever appear at any point.

I simply can't seem to be able to replace FF 64-bit with FF 32-bit. I really don't understand what I am doing wrong. Any ideas ?

Babylon search downloaded with Firefox Download. I have removed the toolbar and altered the search and set Google as my browser but Babylon search comes up first each time I open my browser. I have reset all defaults but Babylon still comes up. I have run Malware and Super anti-spyware programs. Nothing shows.

The Babylon "program" is hiding somewhere. I also get underlines in my browser and links that I do not want. Ideas please.

My home connection is dial-up and to download a 40MB "upgrade" solution would take about 2 hours. I use a public computer with a high-speed connection to download install packages of all the software I use. I can save these packages to a flash drive to bring home to run on my computer. The Mozilla "upgade" solution tries to upgrade the public computer. I do not get a transportable install package. Of course this does me no good.

Also, if I have a standalone installation package, I can keep it incase I need to re-install, or if I want to share Firefox with someone else.

Please send me a link to a standalone, transportable installation package that I can download.

Thank you in advance.

I have seen this question already posed in the forums about updating the latest version of Firefox, however I am not trying to update the version, I am trying to download the latest version of Firefox to Windows through Chrome. I click the download button on the Mozilla website and I extract the file. At this point the computer asks me if I want to save the file or run the file. I have tried to just run the file and the computer shoots out this message "You may not have the necessary permissions to use all the features of the program you are about to run. You may run this program as a different user or continue to run the program as the currant user". The window gives me two options, "Run as currant user" (which closes everything when I choose it), and "Run as administrator" (which leaves me with a user name and password which are always wrong). I can't download Firefox and have tried alot of stuff. I feel like it is a security setting in my computer that needs to be adjusted but I don't know enough to start randomly tinkering around.

As in all Forums... PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!

Whenever I go to download a file, the 'do this automatically for files like this from now on' box is greyed out. I have scoured the internet looking for a solution and just about every one of them is either severely outdated or does not fix my problem. I have reset my Firefox more than I can count and yet it does not seem to fix my problem. It used to work just fine, but it no longer does and it is very annoying and frustrating. I have even tried to completely uninstall it and reinstall it to my computer and that doesn't fix anything.

Is there any sort of way to fix this problem? Firefox is my browser of choice and I'd prefer not to have to start using another one. I know it may seem trivial because it's just one extra step, but when you're doing it a bunch of times in a row like I do, it can get quite bothersome.

Thank you.

I have Windows XP Professional English SP3 installed in an Oracle Virtual Machine. For some reason or another, Internet Explorer stopped browsing to pages having SSL (https). I went to several web pages on the internet. They said this and that, but I managed to narrow it down to the SSL part. I recently received an update to Oracle Virtual Box, so that can also be the culprit. I also have another XP Professional English SP3 virtual machine with no additional software installed besides antivirus software, and in that machine, I had installed a pretty fresh version of Mozilla Firefox, so I tested it, and there was no problem at all surfing, but Internet Explorer refused to display the web page. This is why I would like to have a link to the above mentioned version of Firefox, as you stated in another thread that that particular version was the last one to be supported by Windows XP.

I got a new computer with Windows 10 and installed Firefox 40.0.2. Even with this fresh install, I've been experiencing a very frustrating number of crashes.

I can consistently trigger a crash by trying to inspect an element or by trying to install Firebug.

To resolve the issue I have tried:

- making sure that Adobe Flash/Shockwave is disabled - disabling the NoScript add-on - opening Firefox with a new, fresh profile (even though I did not import a profile from my old Windows 7 machine so the profile should have already been pretty "fresh")

Here are my crash reports for the last 1/2 hour: https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-cc02b456-7a7a-4386-b30f-014422150823 https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-c25dbcb8-489a-4870-9a85-626c22150823 https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-ce261672-72f5-484b-a3e4-0380c2150823 https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-085e4118-2160-4f8e-9f2d-43e402150823 https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-8cbef911-fb77-4c4f-b3a8-316d92150823

Firefox has long been my default browser but I'm worried I'll need to abandon it! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
