Some websites automatically assign an icon when I add them to my bookmark bar. For brevity sake, I delete the description so I can have more bookmarks lined up across the top of the browser page. Other websites do not generate an icon (its an icon of a blank page, a generic default setting I suppose). I want to be able to assign an icon for my bookmarks that do not have a unique icon.

I like having the drop-down menu from the url, but the autocomplete option for textboxs within like when I type my username and it pops up with all of the ones that has been used on that site are really annoying. How do I get rid for the latter? I didn't have this before I upgraded to Firefox, and now I can't get rid of it. Fyi, I'm rather tech inept, don't use complicated comp sci words please!

We're publishing Firefox through Citrix which works correctly. We want to set a few settings that are locked and some that are set as initial preferences. When creating the mozilla.cfg with minimal settings that are locked, everything works correctly. When using additional settings that are not locked we get the "Failed to read the configuration file" error. We've tried to remove some of the settings to make is as basic as possible and still get the message.

Working cfg

# Mozilla Global Preferences

/* This file is to set and lock default preferences.
 *
 * Locate the settings in the prefs.js you want to make global and
 * copy them here. To lock the setting change the user_Pref to
 * lockPref.

I bought a new computer, I freshly installed Firefox 14 on Windows 7 (64 bit), and every https site fails to load, with various security certificate failures. Gmail, for example, won't load because of this: "accounts.google.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because no issuer chain was provided.".. that's even after adding a manual override. My bank's website won't open because the serial number is used on another certificate.. etc. etc.

I've tried all the commonly suggested solutions -- deleting cert8.db, uninstalling Firefox, creating new profiles, copying over profile from the old PC, creating a new profile under a new user... Nothing seems to have any effect. I tried Firefox 14, and 15 (beta), both as fresh installs. I tried disabling my antivirus and firewall (ESET).

I'm out of ideas. Chrome and IE work without any issues. All other PCs on the same home network behind the same router have Firefoxes that work fine.

How to I restart Firefox without restoring an old session?

Whenever I encounter a suspicious website (like a fake anti-virus site, porn redirect, etc), I will close Firefox 6 by using the Windows Task Manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL then Applications/Close). I do this because suspicious websites often force you to click on something before you can close your browser [Example: Are you sure you want to navigate away from this website? Yes/No]. I do not want to click on anything that may install malware. After this forced termination when I re-open Firefox, it attempts to restore my last session automatically. This of course re-opens the same suspicious website and I have to close Firefox a second time with CTRL-ALT-DEL. After that second forced termination I get the "Well this is embarrassing" page and I can choose to start a new session. My question: Is there any way to stop Firefox from trying to automatically restore an old session when it is forcibly closed or terminated? By the way...In Tools/Options/General/Startup, I am set to "show my home page" on startup.

I've noticed since updating to FF12 that now when I click to get "open link in new tab," the new tab opens on the far right of my tabs rather than next to the tab I clicked from, as it did in FF3.6. Is there any way to get it to work the old way?

Thanks, Ellen

I have a website that performs a reload() of a page periodically. Despite all that I've tried, I cannot keep the following dialog from popping up in Firefox: "To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action (such as a search or order confirmation) that was performed earlier."

I have tried the following: 1 - implementing post.redirect.get on the web page 2.- Going to Tools->Options->Advanced and unchecking/checking the "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page" checkbox (it was already unchecked, but I tried it both ways just in case). 3 - going to about:config and setting browser.sessionstore.postdata to 1

NONE of these have resolved the problem. Any ideas?
