Firefox has started making a piercing high-pitched screech when the "save image" and "file update" panels appear. This is a confirmation or alert sound I suppose. It occurs when saving an image from a right-click menu and when downloading a file. Formerly Firefox used the system default sound for this, and that sound is still working in other programs for similar operations.

How can I fix this? Or alternatively how can I disable the sound during such operations in Firefox (or alternatively system-wide)?

Good day, has anybody an idea if and what addon could manage for me redefinition of mouse behaviour. Particularly in my case I want to use middle (wheel) button single click over any text input to perform clipboard paste (but everywhere else the button behaves normally). I had this feature integrated into mouse gestures add on which is no more compatible.

After having to refresh Firefox, all extensions are missing from my toolbar. They're still installed and function but some require tweaking options on a per page basis and it's a hassle to have to work through multiple menus when they should just be a click away. From other answers, it seems like the extenstions should be in the customise toolbar page but only the standard options are there. I've tried disabling and enabling them, as well as removing and adding them again already with no results.

How do I either get them back to the toolbar or the customise page so I can add them myself?

When clicking on a link to an .mp4 file, Firefox navigates to a builtin video player, streaming the remote video file. When Firefox is unable to stream or display a file (as is the case with .mkv or .txt for example), it is downloaded instead.

I simply want .mp4 files to be downloaded when I navigate to them. I tried setting `media.mp4.enabled` to `false`, and that worked, but it also disabled most embedded media players.

Hello,

I have more than 30 extensions, but I cannot add an extension shortcut into my toolbar and no extension appears in the “Customize Firefox” view. I tried “Restore defaults” without any effects...

There is a way to fix this issue or run Firefox in verbose mode to more information why my extensions don't appear here? (Other than restart from a new fresh profile if it's possible…). I confirm that all the extensions are functional and activated. Thanks,

Emeric

So I wanted to read PDFs trough firefox with a dark theme, looked up how to do so online, and people say to change the "about:config" option "pdfjs.viewerCssTheme" to "2" instead of "0", I did that, tried opening a PDF, nothing happend, it was still black text on white backgrounds. Tried closing firefox, reopened the pdf, nothing happened, still white backgrounds. Tried to check if it might have to do with that specific pdf file's config, created my own PDF file from a word document, tried to open it, still white backgrounds. Tried disabling extensions, (which I use four of, UBlock Origin, SponsporBlock, Return Youtube Dislike and Translate this page), didn't work. Tried enabling the option on my laptop, didn't work. Tried a bunch of other stuff and it still won't work. My Firefox version is 109 and I'm using Windows 10 I also don't want to use the console/file edit thing with grayscale(1) invertcolor(1) or whatever it was since it also reverses the colors of images instead of just the backgrounda nd text color.

I am trying to have Firefox show an "X" on every tab as soon as I hover above it. I followed a certain article and implemented this code:

/* Show Tab Close buttons only when hovered */

  1. tabbrowser-tabs > .tabbrowser-tab:not([pinned="true"]) > .tab-stack > .tab-content > .tab-close-button {
 visibility: collapse !important;
 opacity: 0 !important;
 transition: all 250ms ease-in-out !important;

}

  1. tabbrowser-tabs > .tabbrowser-tab:not([pinned="true"]):hover > .tab-stack > .tab-content > .tab-close-button {
 visibility: visible !important;
 opacity: 1 !important;
 transition: all 250ms ease-in-out !important;;

}

  1. tabbrowser-tabs > .tabbrowser-tab:not([pinned="true"]) > .tab-stack > .tab-content > .tab-close-button {
 display: -moz-box !important;

}

This code is however not being implemented no matter how many times I restart Firefox. 'toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets' is set to True The location is userChrome.css is '/home/user1/.mozilla/firefox/yqomjsh9.default-release-1672744596809/chrome/userChrome.css'

What could be the issue? I tried adding executable permissions using "chmod" but that did not change anything.

The latest update added persistent "More Tools" and "Extensions" icons on the top right of Firefox. Usually, by clicking "Customize Toolbar" I could remove any annoying icon that I don't want to persistently see, but it would seem that Firefox DISABLED the ability to remove these annoying icons. Please let us continue to customize our own toolbars and allow us to remove unwanted icons.

All of a sudden when I press F6, it starts a Google search (see image) instead of just focusing the address bar. This is rather annoying because I use F6 all the time to go to a different page (e.g. type "mail" and then follow the autocomplete to mail.google.com) and that doesn't work if it wants search google for mail instead.

How do I revert this to its normal behaviour?

While I can click on the extensions button circled in the screenshot to access them, I can't move those extensions to the toolbar directly. When I search for this issue online, everyone says to use the customize firefox menu to add what I want, but as you can see in the picture - no extensions are listed there, although they are installed and functioning. Very weird because my other install, which is up to date, has this set as default and it has been forever. I'm bewildered. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hello, The controls in Settings to choose how Firefox updates have disappeared from Settings / General? The "Firefox Updates" section is supposed to appear there, based on:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/enable-background-updates-firefox-windows https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-options-preferences-and-settings?as=u&utm_source=inproduct#search

This is on V109. I really need to be able to choose when an update goes in, Python / Jupyter applications I have running on Firefox can cost me hours of time to re-run if Firefox goes in and restarts itself when it wants to. I used to be able to control this. Has it really been removed, or is somewhere else and the docs not updated yet? Thanks Neil

Greetings, I've checked a few articles in Firefox to help with my question, but none of them are helping. (Here's the main article: http://example.com.) Here's the situation. Say I go to a website's Contact page and click the button to contact someone, a window appears and asks me what app I want to use to open the email. Gmail is my default email, and Firefox is my default browser, and I use Windows 10. When I open the window of options (see attached screenshot) to open the email, and I then click "Choose Other Application" (other than Firefox), I don't see the Gmail app anywhere. I then followed the directions in that link above to check my Windows settings, per its suggestion, which I did ... but in those settings, too, I got to a point where the directions no longer matched what I'm seeing on my screen. I didn't see the Gmail app anywhere. Could you let me know in simple layperson's terms how to open Gmail links in Firefox? I don't have a PhD in computer science, so please keep it very simple. Thanks in advance! Best wishes, Bill

I asked this a couple of years ago - ! But the problem apparently is BAAAAACCCKKKK.....

In my list of bookmarks I have inserted SEPARATOR lines. I cannot find how to delete a separator line. There doesn't seem to be any up to date information online about how to handle this - can someone help?

In the previous fix I would click the three-line icon at top right and to into MANAGING BOOKMARKS, where there was a way to see the list, and I could click on and delete any separator lines I wanted to remove.

Apparently in the newest version of FF this no longer works. Now when I go to Manage Bookmarks, there is a list of my bookmarks, but I don't see any of the separator lines.

I'd be truly grateful for help - thank you in advance.

My extensions take up a lot of space in my toolbar and I'd love to hide all of them. However - every 'solution' to the problem tells me to right click the extension straight from the toolbar and click 'Hide from Toolbar'.

I do remember this option existing, however I couldn't find it since last update and I'm assuming it was removed. Is there any way to use it again?

^ (Small note, It would also be lovely if I could add them to the Extensions add-on in the toolbar, as that would really be a better use for it other than overflow)

I have run Firefox for years on up to 4 PCs at once, everything has always synced and screens all look the same. Recently one laptop lost the addon extension icons in the Firefox toolbar. They remain on all other installations. I have tried uninstalling Firefox and installing an earlier build, and also the latest Beta build with no luck. All extensions show as installed and activated. I have copied the Profile from another laptop. I have of course done a reset. Any other suggestions?
