Firefox beta release: 116.0b6 (64-bit)

On sites such as BBC.com, Youtube.com and Facebook.com I am not getting the normal cookie consent pop-up option which used to automatically show on opening the sites. Other sites are still showing the cookie consent option pop-ups. This means I cannot select if I wish to accept or reject cookies on several sites that used to allow me the option.

In checking about:config, the cookiebanners.service.mode is set to 1, which I believe this the correct setting for enabling the cookies consent pop-up option.

Is there any fix for the cookie consent pop-up not working on certain sites within the EU? I am not using a VPN or pop-up blocker. Tracking protection is set to Standard, cookies and site data are always deleted on closing Firefox and "Do Not Track” signal is set to always. Deleting all installed FF extensions has no effect either.

In other browsers on the same PC, Chrome and Edge, the cookie consent option does still work as it should on the sites mentioned. In Firefox it doesn't.

This is only happening on one PC. My latop has the same FF beta build installed and is not showing this behaviour, it still automatically shows the cookie consent pop-ups when visiting sites such as BBC.com, Youtube.com and Facebook.com.

Is there any way I can completely disable horizontal scrolling? I'm using a laptop with a trackpoint (lenovo x230, Windows 10) and it's not terribly accurate, which means scrolling whilst a youtube video is going often makes it track backwards or forwards, and another website I use uses a horizontal click to send me to the next page, which sucks. I would prefer to just be able to disable it entirely. Thanks!

I swear to god I used to have it disabled, just need to work out how again.

Whenever I try to open Firefox, it takes about 25 seconds to boot. This behavior can be observed both with all the extensions running and in safe mode. The link to the profiles are shared below.

With extensions: https://share.firefox.dev/3riMPQZ In safe mode: https://share.firefox.dev/3OadE31

I have been noticing this for a few months now. Firefox works just fine after wasting ~25 seconds initially. I have also reinstalled Firefox multiple times. Right after the installation, the boot-up can be very fast (less than 1 second). However, after using Firefox for a few hours, the problem comes back.

I am not well-versed in reading Firefox profiler reports. So, please help me figure out what's actually happening in those ~25 seconds.

Took me a long time to nail this issue down. Recently (past 1-2 years?), Firefox has started suggesting the base website when you have bookmarks that include the base domain - and it's really bothersome from a UX perspective. E.g. if i have "adobe.com/express" or any other adobe bookmarks, the FIRST autocompleted url Firefox gives me is "adobe.com" which I DO NOT have as a bookmark. In my Firefox settings I also have Shortcuts and other search suggestions disabled.

Why is Firefox doing this?

Firefox just updated itself to v106 (x64). Opening Microsoft outlook web mail (https://outlook.office.com/mail/) gives me the opening envelope between 5 & 10 times, then an error screen that says "multiple redirects detected". Hitting the 'refresh' link works fine, and no trouble after that, so maybe a sign in issue? Seems to be a new problem; didn't happen yesterday.

Hi,

im getting unknown issuer on my thin-clients with a FF ESR 45.9.0. This FF is tied to the OS (Ubuntu 16.04) and the OS is the most recent compatible version for our version of the thin-clients. So yeah its super old and I'm not able to update any of this. There is no security.enterprise_roots.enabled option available. What would be the best way to solve this issue for ~400 clients. Thanks in Advance Regards Tekkion

I've just updated to Firefox 125 and now, when I start to type in the URL bar and get my suggestion dropdown of previously visited pages, I no longer can see the actual url for each entry. All I see is the top level name for each entry.

This is not helpful, as I may have perviously visited a number of pages on that site and the information shown does not give me a way to differentiate sufficiently between those pages.

How can I get the exact url displayed on the suggestions dropdown.

How can I get those top level descriptions NOT displayed, so that only the urls are shown?

I don't know what this is, what it's called, or why the someone in your UI/UX team continues to think that it's a good idea to change the keyboard navigation in the browser with all these new, special, or whatever controls that are ultimately useless.

How do I turn this off?

Hi,

I'm using FF on Fedora 39.

However Firefox does not remember any file associations. The MimeTypes.rdf file in the profile is missing and is also not created on restarting the browser.

In the options I've now set the configuration to "Ask whether to open or save files". Now I see a popup when clicking on a file however there is no checkbox with "remember this file associations" (or something similiar).

Noticed yesterday but not as prominent, firefox suddenly steals all window focus, trying to do anything in any other window is pushed into firefox no matter if it is minimised or in another workspace. I have tested this in a clean install along with a clean profile. Bitwarden and other windows seem to act weird when they are interacted with.

This all works well and good on b8 and stable. I am using wayland (Ubuntu 22.* default), but xwayland is available.

I use the Windows registry FontSubstitutes (Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes) to replace system fonts like Segoe UI with other fonts. It takes a lot of work to get Windows itself to respect these options, to the extent that I have to make it believe Segoe UI isn't present by modifying a different registry location (Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts).

However, Firefox does not respect the FontSubstitutes settings. Based on a previous post here, this is something it did prior to Firefox 89, but has stopped doing.

An ideal solution would be a way for Firefox to correctly read my FontSubstitutes settings. An acceptable workaround would be a way to provide Segoe UI for Firefox to use while still preventing its use in other applications. (I know that, for instance, Adobe Photoshop allows users to install fonts to Photoshop itself, bypassing the system fonts folder entirely.)

I recently installed new pc with fresh Firefox Developer Edition. Then I transfered the profile folder from old pc to the new pc. All bookmarks, addons, etc is there. Just the XULRunner popup appears only on the new pc. I uninstalled firefox on the new pc again and reinstalled it with profile cleaning. After profile cleaning firefox got faster and addons got removed. But the XULRunner popup keeps appearing. When I go to taskscheduler and trigger the "Firefox Developer Edition Background Update CA9422711AE1A81C" again, the XULRunner popup appears. Removing this taskscheduler and Firefox keeps readding it and the XULRunner popup are back. Any idea how I can get rid of the XULRunner popup?
