When I am watching a TV stream on my PC; when I hover on (some) pictures or videos, a supremely annoying pop-up url appears at the bottom of my screen. I have some learning problems and can not figure out the 'userChrome.css' method. I can not work with long streams of multiple overlapping instruction. I am not tech savvy. I do not understand 'layers' and stuff like that. I can do the 'about:config' thing, if anyone knows whether or not if I can fix it from there, I would be eternally grateful. Thanks.

Just now, after a massive and catastrophic SUPER-MELTDOWN-crash that arbitrarily decided to absolutely murder my day, ALL my tabs and windows and ALL history of "Recently Closed" tabs and windows is gone!

THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!

What is the reason for the existence of a SYNC feature if it isn't to MAKE SURE that a record of open tabs and windows is SECURELY maintained no matter how many times the application crashes, so that AT ALL TIMES, this information is kept INTACT, regardless of the state of the end users device? That is BY FAR the most important part of the sync feature! Are you telling me that there is no backup process of that information?

This is the kind of thing I never expected from you guys at Mozilla. I've been using Firefox for MANY years because I trust what you do. Today that trust has been SEVERELY and BRUTALLY wounded, most likely beyond repair...

I need you to fix this...

I need you to recover that information for me and I need you to make sure that what just happened could never, ever happen again unless God himself caused every digital storage unit on earth to disintegrate.

Either I'm a dork or the instructions that I have found are not very clear. I have been trying for several days to transfer my settings from my desktop to a new laptop. I have gone to the %appdata%\mozilla\firefox\profiles page until I'm blue in the face. I transferred a directory called "m80s2e9e.default" from the profiles directory on the desktop to the %appdata%\mozilla\firefox\profiles directory on the laptop but keep getting "Firefox profile cannot be loaded" error. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Dale Webb

I have read the same named question that has been archived and have not found a solution to my problem there. I'm using Macro Express to define my own keystrokes which works fine outside of FF. One of the keystrokes I have defined is Ctrl-Shift-k. A suggestion was to disable Developer Tools via about:config -> devtools.enable = false, but when I tried to use my definition of Ctrl-Shift-k, instead FF told me "You activated a Developer Tools shortcut. If that was a mistake, you can close this Tab." when in fact I wanted to have it invoke my own definition.

How can I override this (and other) keystrokes when using FF?

I have recently switched from Chrome to Firefox. All features that I used in Chrome seem to exist in Firefox as well, until I found out that there are no local overrides in Firefox?

Some Information about this feature(it firstly appeared in Chrome's dev build in 2017): Local Overrides

Personally I found this feature very useful and convenient when debugging directly in your browser and immediately takes effect after a page refresh.

I wonder if anyone else submitted a feedback or even had a discussion about this feature? I tried to send a suggestion about this feature but they temporarily disabled the submission form.

I'm having a number of issues with my Firefox out of nowhere.

1. My mouse will no longer scroll, nor will my keyboard arrows. I must use my touchscreen. 2. I have "new tabs" instead of "new windows" selected, yet if I click anything, it goes to a new window. 3. I cannot close tabs without right clicking. 4. I cannot SWITCH tabs at all. 5. I cannot close Firefox without going to my start bar and right clicking. 6. Firefox seems to be aware something is wrong, opens up in a troubleshooting mode... and then doesn't troubleshoot.

(It is entirely possibly my infant slammed on the keyboard and changed a setting I can't find.)

Since 88.0.1 all Amazon Prime Video content displays this message: "Your browser does not support High-Definition playback due to content restrictions. Please update your browser for the best Prime Video experience".

I've tried turning off vpn, adblocker, and set tracking protection back to 'standard', nothing helps.

I'm on W10 1909 Home which is technically not supported by MS as from this week so I did consider that as a possible (but unlikely) reason for it. However, the content plays fine in MS Edge. The content also plays fine from a laptop running Chrome on 1909 Enterprise (similar build to mine albeit not out of support yet).

I see widevine was updated in 88.0.1 - could this be the issue?

Thanks

Last time Firefox updated, I managed to find information online about moving the website tabs so they were below the bookmarks instead of at the top of the screen. It was a huge pain-in-the-butt to do.

After a recent re-install, the tabs have moved themselves back to the top of the screen and nothing I do seems to be able to move them back below the bookmarks.

Is there a way I can move the tabs that doesn't involve spending hours hunting through posts on the web, changing hidden Firefox settings, and recoding .css files?

If not, why do you not give the option to move the tabs wherever the user wants? Especially when it makes far more sense to have the website tabs directly above the website being viewed, at least in my opinion?

I'm currently using Firefox 85.0.2 (64-bit).

Recently, I updated Firefox (as it regularly bothers me to do so) and it added an annoying new feature that appears whenever I type anything into the address bar. It used to just provide search suggestions from my list of bookmarks, but now below the list of search options is a separate segment with "This time, search with:" followed by multiple icons--in my case, Google (my default browser), bookmarks, tabs, history, and settings. And you know how when you're sometimes typing something you want to find and the desired result is toward the bottom of the list, so instead of pressing the down arrow key to get to it, you press the up arrow to start from the end…well now, when I try that on the address bar, it cycles through each icon before letting me get to the list's end.

I know it sounds like a petty complaint, but it's annoying and inconvenient to have to do it each and every time since it's habitual to cycle from top to bottom or vice versa on basically every other search bar. I went the route of "Settings > Options > Search > Search Shortcuts" to see if I could get rid of these icons, but just like how it doesn't let you get rid of search engines when you only have one on the list, it doesn't give you an option to remove these superfluous icons.

These Mozilla dumbasses seem to lack foresight and/or consideration with the way they limit user preferences. Can anybody give me any alternative solutions? Please spare me the snide answers like "switch to Chrome" (already considering it). If there's a way to simply circumvent these icons in the address bar rather than getting rid of them entirely, that would be more that enough: I just don't know how to go about it. Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read my submission/rant.

Hi

I had two Firefox windows open. One with 100+ tabs and the other with 1 tab. I closed the Firefox with 100 tabs, and then closed the one with 1 tab, without thinking. I then realised that I should have closed them in the opposite order, because I want the 100 tabs to get restored.

I opened Firefox again and was dismayed to see just the single tab get restored. I did some searching and backed up the "sessionstore-backups" folder.

I then tried to close Firefox and replace sessionstore.jsonlz4 with previous.jsonlz4 from the backed up "sessionstore-backups" folder. This did not work, as when I opened Firefox I still only got the 1 tab back and "recently closed windows" remains grayed out. Ctrl+Shift+N does nothing as well.

I used https://www.jeffersonscher.com/ffu/scrounger.html to inspect the backed up previous.jsonlz4 file and it shows

Open Windows Open Window 1 Tab 1 [...]

Closed Windows Closed Window 1 Tab 1 [...] [...] Tab 125 [...]

So the previous.jsonlz4 file does contain my mistakenly closed window but I can't get Firefox to restore the tabs!

Can anyone please help me get my tabs back? I'm on Firefox v96.0.1.
