I have a very old laptop. It runs WinXP32. I had Firefox 50 installed, with NoScript installed too, and all was well. I decided (and now I really wish I hadn't) to wipe it all back with a TrueImage drive image I had because it had been a few months since I'd done it.

Now, all of the older versions of NoScript have been removed from Mozilla addons. There's a version of NoScript 5.1.9 on the NoScript site that won't install because it's unsigned. Setting xpinstall.signatures.required to false does nothing to help.

My laptop cannot run newer windows. No drivers. XP32 cannot run newer Firefox. I understand thinking that all old NoScripts should be removed because now they're vulnerable... but no. Absolutely wrong. I could run an old NoScript and drive image every weekend. Easy. Simple.

Now I can't run NoScript at all. How is this making me safer?

Does anybody have any suggestions as to *anything* I could do to install NS 5.1.9?

Hi Firefox support, I am having trouble with Firefox,on my Windows 8.1 64 bit; was using version 53.0.3 and occasionally crashing, then would not even start in safe mode. Upgrading to a later version 54.0.1and an then earlier version 50.0.1 did not help- crashing just the same on startup. I have kept antiviral software and scans up to date. Also tried Windows Repair System Files with sfc.exe. Here is the crash report ID: bp-750d516e-1705-44fd-be90-1a4961171117 Thank you for your help, In appreciation, Philip

What I'm Trying to Do: import bookmarks (from an HTML file) from my old PC's Firefox to my new PC's Firefox. The Problem: whenever I attempt this (following the steps outlined in this site's article, "Import Bookmarks from an HTML file"), Firefox's Library window won't close, and trying to close it causes Firefox to stop responding. What I've Tried: creating a new version of my bookmarks file; restarting. (Neither worked.)

Note: my only goal here is to import my bookmarks; if this can be done from something other than an HTML file, or via another method, that's fine (I just used this one because I'd done it successfully in the past, and the process seemed relatively simple).

Also, my tech skills are modest at best, so newbie-level solutions would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your assistance.

Probably after upgrading FF to 55 (64bit) on Windows 7, all pull-down items get disabled a while after FF is started.

The affected items include not only the web page pull-down menus but also FF's own menu bar items, tab browser (the tiny downward triangle far right to the tabs), "Open menu" button (the three thick horizontal bars rightmost in the tool bar), etc., almost everything. Some web page pull-down items still work, but they are probably in different CSS/JS/HTML coding. The menu bar shortcuts (e.g. alt-T for Tools) become unresponsive, too.

Everything works fine right after FF is started, but, a while after, varying from a few minutes to a few hours, all FF windows start suffering this symptom simultaneously. Restarting FF resumes the good, but the symptom returns a while after. Starting FF in Safe Mode makes no difference; neither does restarting OS. User activity on FF (e.g. typing and clicking into FF) does not seem to affect the symptom; leaving FF untouched at all for a while after starting FF also leads to the symptom. No other applications running concurrently on the same PC suffer this.

55 (64bit) on Windows 10 works fine.

For many years, I've been using the great feature "zoom" to view websites, it was simply amazing that firefox would remember the zoom level of each individual site, so when I re-visited the sites would instantly appear great on my monitor.

Unfortunately, this worked up until firefox 54, once I upgraded to firefox 56, the zoom feature no longer remembers each websites zoom level :( now I have to manually re-zoom each site over and over again.

I know that there are plugins out there to do simulate this feature, but I don't trust 3rd-party plugins and I would prefer to have this feature native in firefox like before.

Thank you.

PS: I'm using Fedora 26 Linux, the affected package is: firefox-56.0-2.fc26.x86_64 and browser.zoom.siteSpecific is set to true (the default).

Used FF 50 since it's release and streaming has been perfect on every site I use. Yesterday I refreshed FF and this plug in will not install. I have read the reasons why but is there any work around at all perhaps in about:config? I still use Vista as I can't afford another system now but it (was) flawless. The thoughts of switching to Chrome or Opera is unsettling.

I've seen this problem come up regularly, and apparently without fix. I may have a site for developpers to study the symptoms more easily: TECHRADAR.COM. When I select one of the items, after getting into it, if I'm fast enough going back, Firefox works fine. If I peruse the text for a while, I need two/three BACK clicks to go back one page. Works fine with Edge, IE, and Chrome.

So I studied the "differences" between going back immedatly and waiting for a little while, the only thing which changes within the page is the little popup window immediatly under the main picture on the right hand side called:

TECH DEALS, PRIZES AND LATEST NEWS

It asks for an Email address, and underneath, there is a block saying LEARN MORE. As soon as that block as been filled, the page is somewhat "renewed", and a second, sometimes a third entry is created within the BACK history.

I assume the opération of filling the block is understood by Firefox as somesort of a new page, and an entry is created within the BACK history list, which causes the problem.

I assumed, three/four months back, that whattever TECHRADAR did renovating their site was the problem, until I searched Firefox and found out that other people had that problem on site I tried, with mitigated success/failure. The TECHRADAR Home bar contains a choice called "PRO", and this one links to the same items, but the page layout is different, and there is no problem BACK'ing.

Hope it helps, for it IS annoying!

Regards

I encountered a problem with my search engine reverting to yahoo every time I re-launch FF. This is very frustrating. Somewhere I found that this can be related to add-ons. Although I didn't find any add-on called Yahoo in my list of add-ons, I found one called Search Engine for Firefox (or very close to this). I removed it and everything went back to normal.

The question is, what is that add-on? Where did it came from? I think it should be removed from available add-ons altogether, or, at least renamed to Yahoo search engine? I didn't install it specifically and was forced either by FF or some other add-on.

I've seen other users having same problem on the forum, why isn't that addressed?
