Recently I have noticed that when I want to display HTML source of the page Firefox asks me to log to the site once again. WHY? I am already logged in. The page is already loaded and displayed. So why it needs my password again?????

In some cases the page is actually loaded once again which can result in different content being displayed as "a page" and different as "a source" (if there is a dynamic insertion on the page changed on every get). But sometimes it shows old, cached source while the rendered page is already changed. I know that I can see actual content by using the Inspector but "show the source" function was more convenient. Now I can not believe that the "source" shown is a source of the actual "page" Such misfeatures make the function totally useless.

Location: Australia EST

I am wondering if the following is a known problem. If so, I haven’t been able to find the solution online.

I keep copies of home rental online payments as proof of payment should there be a discrepancy with the real estate agency.

This problem can also apply in other situations, for example payment of online purchases, or movement of large amounts of money to varying institutions.

Sometimes the bank payment is delayed and I would like to ensure that not only the date of payment is accurate but also that the time of payment is relatively close. I am finding that the file printed when banking via Firefox is not time dated relatively close to the time of payment. I use Firefox solely for banking as a secure method.

Upon payment I am presented with a bank receipt and an option to print it, all within Firefox’s desktop application. After pressing the PRINT button I choose to print as PDF and save to the computer. The resulting file is what I am referring to.

The pdf receipt is shown with default details at the top and bottom of the page, the bottom being where the date and time of pdf printing occurred. The discrepancy is between that time shown and the actual time of payment. The difference can be sometimes up to 12 hours!

Can someone please assist me to rectify the situation?

Kind regards, Harauld

Can websites i visit track my browsertheme for example system default or light or dark theme? I like the dark theme but i'm not using it because i fear it makes my browser much more unique, is that so? If so, is there a preference or another way to prefent websites from tracking my browser theme?

Mozilla clearly lost it with their unique identifier, anyways i got a question on this topic.

If i download Firefox here https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release there will be a unique identifier, but if download it here https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/ There won't be such an identifier.

So, which is the better option since i know little about mozilla.org not sure if it's secure. Also when i download from the first link, what will the unique identifier track exactly since i open my browser and paste the URL for download, i don't come to the downloadsite from any other site or search result, i directly go there, so what will happen with the identification in that case? I know i had a similar thread before, but question is still open.

I want to use discord in firefox instead of using the pc-program. It appears that my firefox.cfg has some preferences that block discord from gaining microphone access. I never used multiple firefox profiles but that changed now, i created a firefox profile for discord purpose only. However my firefox.cfg is active in both the default and the discord profile, again blocking microphone access.

As i said currently i use firefox.cfg and autoconfig.js to customize firefox preferences, but since this makes it impossible for me to use discord i will have to find another way to modify firefox, so the question is how can i use multiple firefox profiles with different preferences? Can this be done with a user.js file? After all what is the difference between using firefox.cfg and user.js?

I came across this article https://brave.com/popular-browsers-first-run/ which says the following

> A granular description of the device was also included in this payload: an Apple Model ID (if any), details about the CPU (e.g. cores, extensions, family, L3 and L2 cache, model number, speed, vendor), graphics card and display settings (e.g. name of graphics card, full on-disk address to drivers, driver dates, vendor, version, whether or not the GPU is active, amount of on-board memory, current state of D2D and DWrite, a granular set of feature flags, connected displays (how many, resolutions, refresh rates), hard drives (e.g. model names, type), operating system (e.g. name, date of install, locale, version, granular windows build number), security software (e.g. names of anti-spyware, antivirus, and firewalls in use), and more. > > One of the more interesting observations about this Telemetry payload is the presence of a key called environment.settings.telemetryEnabled, which was set to false. Presumably this would mean no such telemetry calls would be made, which clearly was not the case.

And was wondering if Firefox can shed more light on why it seems that disabling telemetry apparently does not stop the pingsender process?

Hello,

I am having problems downloading documents with Firefox. It happens very rarely, initially I only saw that problem on the Epson Microcontroller web site and now the same is happening on the Raspberry Pi web site. All other web sites work fine.

When I click on a link I get an error message that the web site cannot be found and to check the internet connection a.s.o. (see attachment). The link I clicked when I got this error message was:

https://datasheets.raspberrypi.com/rpi3/raspberry-pi-3-b-plus-reduced-schematics.pdf

It works fine on a Huawei tablet, so I suspect the problem lies with Firefox and / or my settings.

Any idea what is happening and how to solve that problem?

Kind Regards, Hugo

p.s.: the image upload here does not seem to work, the error message displayed says:

"Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site. We can’t connect to the server at datasheets.raspberrypi.com. If that address is correct, here are three other things you can try:

   Try again later.
   Check your network connection.
If you are connected but behind a firewall, check that Firefox has permission to access the Web."

.

Hi there, this is my first time reporting an issue that I have lived with for at least three updates of Tor.

The fault is a display fault with the Main Area/Webpage Display Area. Let me explain (see attached Screenshots (x2)).

The Tabs, Address Bar & Bookmarks Bar all display horizontally, across the entire display area.

However the Main Area/Webpage Display Area does not extend fully in both the width & depth. Therefore there you can see a medium grey background that runs around the left, bottom & right hand-side of the Main Area/Webpage Display Area.

I would suggest that there is a logical coding error. The coding may simply say hang the Main Area/Webpage Display Area (this box) from the centre of the displayed bars that run the width of the whole page. The coding may have a buffer to the left, bottom and right hand-side. Alternatively, the instruction to expand (this box) may not be written like the display bars above i.e. in relation to how the the width is expressed. Then (this box) needs to be told to expand from it's top centre, from the above bars, to the bottom of the page.

I think this is a simple enough fix, but it has been in Tor for at least three updates/builds. I hope that you are using GitHub as you develop this web browser. That way you can see when this element had it's coding changed.

Best, Dan.

Privacy Suggestions? Trying to get Browser Privacy to it's limits.

➤ (1) Webbrowser

I became tired of changing all Firefox settings manually everytime after reinstalling windows, or the browser itself, or even if the browser gets updated it changes some settings.

So i did a little research and found that you can import a CFG (config file) that will instantly use all desired settings. I disabled alot of settings that by default are enabled, for example: Telemetry, data collection, pocket, google widevine, history, cookies, do not track off, dns over https, ipv6, and more. I also searched for alternative browsers to firefox because mozilla has changed alot over the years. Every update has extremly cringe disgusting popups showing wired people smiling as if their life deepended on it, also the firefox logo has become super cringe.. it just looks so ugly that i manually had to import the old icon. And ofcourse the default search engine is google, which is a red flag, but i guess mozilla also has to make money somehow.

So i found this fork of firefox called librewofl, which actually is pretty much the same as firefox just with a stronger focus on privacy. For example by default ipv6 is disabled, do not track is enabled, default searchengine is duckduckgo. I used the browser for a while but the performance is noticable worse than firefox. So what i did was to read the entire CFG of librewolf, then combine it with my own CFG and import it to firefox. I beleve now firefox now has a good privacy quality, however there might be settings which i am unaware of but which are critical key for privacy, you are welcome to share your knownledge on how to improve privacy while browsing the internet, and suggesting your privacy browser choice.

I heared that using browser extensions is a "nightmare" for privacy, is there a thread here that can explain why that is? And if there isn't would you mind to explain it to me or send a URL that explains it well? My guess is, because browser extensions make the browser more unique as websites can track which extensions i'm using, and also the extensions might send information to their developers which puts me at risk of sharing data about my online activites. For the moment im using 3 extensions which i beleve is not that much, those are: • uBlockOrigin (adversting blocker) • CanvasBlocker (to fake fingerprints) • Tampermonkey (to bypass youtube age restriction)

➤ (2) Email

I don't have the money and knownledge to host my own mail server so i have no choice but to "trust" an email-provider. When i did my research on privacy email providers i found 2 results which looked somewhat promissing. Protonmail and Tutanota. Note: i was reading an article claiming tutanota was forced by the government to grant them backdoor access. Anyways, i decided to use protonmail and after around 3 years of using that service i can't complain. They have good support that responds within 96 hours, they also have their own free VPN that has enough bandwith for 1080p youtube streaming. They have always helped me with any questions. What do you people think about protonmail, can they be "trusted" atleast to a certain point? What other privacy email providers are there and why are you using them?

➤ (3) Youtube

The censorship on Youtube has become ridiculous and it's only getting worse day by day, it's totally out of control and youtube at this point behaves like a mad dictatorship. Good content rarely get's promoted but stupid content with disgusting thumbnails gets promoted alot. For example, if you visit Linus Tech Tips youtube channel right now and look at the thumbnails if that does not make you feel cringe, well i have no words. At the same time while massive youtubers with millions of followers make big money and have way to many views, the good channels which are talking about privacy, security, human rights, are killed and censored by either the youtube algorithm or youtube staff themselfes. For example: • WION (public news sender which is almost neutral) • China Uncensored (channel that exposes the brutality, human rights abuses, and mass surveillance system in china) • The Hated One (guy that shows alot on how to increase privacy and anonymity) • Rob Braxman Tech (guy speaking alot on how to increase privacy on your mobile phone) All these channels have recently been censored and harassed by youtube staff, they are blocking and deleting their content, and for what? For saying the truth.

This brings me to my final question, you can already guess it. Is there ANY good youtube alternative? I have done my research on that question and sadly i did not find a good solution. There are many alternatives but none of them are "good" in my opinion. If you know an alternative please share it, i am so tired of youtube. And let's not forget after all youtube is owned by google, the devil itself.

I have noticed that sometimes the firefox browser crashes when a video is playing. This has happened multiple times now. To debug the issue, this time i started the browser using terminal so that when the browser crash i will see the message on the terminal. This time i was watching a youtube video. And while the video was playing the browser first hangs(meaning the screen/video freezes and browser doesn't respond to any clicks or anything) for first 2-3 minutes and then it crashes. This time since i had started the firefox from terminal, after the crash i got the following printed out on the terminal: ``` user@user-Inspiron-xxxx:~$ /usr/lib/firefox/./firefox Exiting due to channel error. Exiting due to channel error. Exiting due to channel error. Exiting due to channel error. Exiting due to channel error. Exiting due to channel error. Exiting due to channel error. CPU time limit exceeded (core dumped) ``` I am using Ubuntu 18.04 and Firefox version 98.0(64 bit). I have downloaded the tar file of this version from Mozilla's official site and then installed it manually on my machine. Can someone help me solve the issue and also tell me the reason for this crash.

I am using Firefox 98.0(64 bit) on Ubuntu 18.04 and it crashes sometimes while i am browsing. I have downloaded the tar file from the official site and then installed it manually on my system. To debug this this time i opened the firefox from terminal and waited for it to crash. After some time while i was browsing, it suddenly crashed as i expected. The output that i got after the crash on the terminal was: ``` user@user-Inspiron-xxxx:~$ /usr/lib/firefox/./firefox

      1. !!! [Parent][PContentParent] Error: Send(msgname=PContent::Msg_DestroyBrowsingContextGroup) Closed channel: cannot send/recv

      1. !!! [Child][PContentChild] Error: RunMessage(msgname=PContent::Reply_DiscardBrowsingContext) Channel closing: too late to send/recv, messages will be lost
      1. !!! [Child][PContentChild] Error: RunMessage(msgname=PContent::Msg_DestroyBrowsingContextGroup) Channel closing: too late to send/recv, messages will be lost
      1. !!! [Child][PContentChild] Error: RunMessage(msgname=PContent::Msg_DiscardWindowContext) Channel closing: too late to send/recv, messages will be lost

Exiting due to channel error. Exiting due to channel error. Exiting due to channel error. Exiting due to channel error. Exiting due to channel error. Exiting due to channel error. Exiting due to channel error. CPU time limit exceeded (core dumped) ```

What is the cause of this crash and how to solve it. After the crash i also typed: about:crashes on the address bar of the browser but when i pressed enter, i got a blank page on the top which No crash reports have been submitted was written.
