I've used Firefox for several years. Up until recently, anytime I would type the beginning of a heavily visited site, I could simply hit enter and it would autocomplete the website for me. It doesn't do that anymore, and I either have to type out the entire website, click it in the 'suggestions' that drop down, or click it in my bookmarks. I used to be able to type 'gmai' and hit enter to go to gmail, now it just searches 'gmai' on Google. Is there some setting I'm missing? This is extremely frustrating.

My old PC died, luckily, I had a new (secondhand) one ready to go.

I am using a pre-quantum version of Firefox.

Where can I get legacy versions of extensions that I need?

Yes, they've all been updated and maintained, but, there are several whose functions are severaly depreciated - including one where I would now have to actually PAY MONEY to do what I used to be able to do with ease on the legacy version.

Urgently seeking legacy versions that all worked fine before my old PC hit the dust last week.

On FF v78.0.2 (Win 10/64-bit), it used to be that I could open PDF links within a website using FF's built-in PDF Viewer. However, after saving them to disk, when I opened the PDF from the Downloads panel, it would open in my preferred 3rd party app. This was desired and worked perfectly.

But this seems to have changed! I either have to commit to the built-in always, or an external app always, irrespective of whether I am opening from a browser link or the download panel.

This is a terrible behavior. FF should open PDFs in the download handler (like ALL other file types there) with the OS's preferred PDF handler, which, in my case, is not FF's built-in Viewer.

If open a PDF in the built-in Viewer and save it from there, why would I want to re-open it in the built-in PDF viewer when opening from the download panel?

FF's built-in Viewer is great for a quick view of a PDF, I quite like it. But if I take the time to save it, I typically want more advanced functionality, like highlighting, filling in forms, etc. It worked perfectly before, please revert and stop fixing things that aren't broken. Or at least differentiate between the download panel and website links. Is there any hope in submitting a bug report?

Viewing a national newspaper site today, Firefox popped up an odd message Continue to installation of Flash player. It then loads (tries) https://performintenselyquickapplication.icu and an ID string. I think I can run Flash already on my browser so why do I have to do this?

The URL worries me, it may be genuine but would like confirmation it is. As mentioned I can already see/use Flash so why the message?

Search for https://performintenselyquickapplication.icu returns nothing other than an Alexa position. Thanks in advance. McP/

After a deletion of a profile; an attempt to sync back the preferences results in the search bar having the default engine not synchronised. It is overwritten to Google, despite doing sync for DuckDuckGo. I have done a parallel test on the "tracking protection" and the preference for that one does sync. Thank you for any suggestions!

EDIT: The DuckDuckGo addon accomplishes the desired effect. However, it only hides the problem.

This morning I got a window that stated support for Adobe Flash Player (FP) was ending DEC 2020. It asked me to either delay or uninstall, I chose to delay. After researching, it appears FP is going away. What happens when I uninstall FP? Do websites stop working? Is there a compatible replacement? I'm unable to find a definitive answer. In several web articles about the subject there is just a general, yep it's ending but nothing moving forward.

After the last update a few days ago, I have had to go into privacy and security and reset everything, plus go into about:config and reset media.autoplay also. Still, even if the main video on a page is blocked, the little floating video remains and the sliding and floating ads and such still remain. I really need a fix for this. I do research online for a living, and having to close all these annoyances all the time is costing me time, thus money.

How do I now stop all this? Even on this page, an annoying drop-over is annoying me. Time is money, and every second counts in my work. Any help would be appreciated. TIA

Is there about:config or userChrome.css option to move system buttons - back button, forward button and hamburger button from nav-bar to TabsToolbar? Three fingers left or right swipe or shortcuts cmd <- -> are somehow not as fast as using buttons. Thanks

Hi! Does anybody know how to disable browser closing by ctrl+q shortcut? It is too close to ctrl+w and sometimes I close the whole browser instead of one tab. Moreover it is really useless and stupid feature since I have alt+f4. Why I need another shortcut which do the same stuff? And why developers ignore this issue which was reported on several forums? I tried install extension which disable it but it doesn't work for me.

It used to be that downloading something like a pdf and then clicking on it through the downloads dropdown would immediately open the pdf in the default system pdf viewer. Now I get a pop-up telling me the Portal "Open with" is ready which then presents me with a set of options for where to open the file. I have looked around for anyone else with this problem but haven't found anyone.

Additional info: If I use the show enclosing folder feature it actually shows me a temp folder (image attached)

There is no option to add new tab(s) between a specific location. From specific location, I intended to add a new tab between two tabs, not at the end of all the tabs. To make it more understandable, here is a scenario:

For example, on my Firefox browser, following tabs are opened in the order as follows: Tab1, Tab2, Tab3, Tab4, Tab5, Tab6.

Now, I wanted to add a Tab7, but not at the end, as it happens usually. I want to add it between Tab2 and Tab3 directly without manually dragging it in between and hence I want to get the following order:

Tab1, Tab2, Tab7, Tab3, Tab4, Tab5 and Tab6.

Unlike other browsers like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge Chromium, I feel this is a subtle feature which is missing in Firefox. In those browsers, you can just directly right-click on the opened tab and click "New Tab", which adds a new tab in between the opened tab and the adjacent one.

I really wish this feature is provided as soon as possible on Firefox too.

Thank You. Regards, VIVEK.
