I know that firefox once put the tabs on top, but I had that fixed with setting in "about:config" the value for "browser.tabs.onTop" to "false". Now, after upgrading Firefox to v.29 this entry is still set to the false value, however, I can't get the tabs below the adressbar (which is super annoying). Any ideas how to resolve this?

Yahoo Mail is asking me to add an application (a Yahoo Mail app) for "mailto" links. I don't want it. Closing the notification works for as long a refresh, which means I'd be forever closing the notification, thus I want to disable the notification in about:config but what exactly do I need to disable?

Some of my installed add-ons fail to launch when I start FF although they appear enabled in the add-ons manager. They are all up-to-date and they work as intended when I disable them and re-enable them. But that only works for restartless ones. If I try to disable and re-enable an add-on that requires restart of FF then all the others fail to launch again. This also affects my session. I use the option to launch tabs and windows from last session when I close FF but it wont work.
I am running on Linux Mint 13 Maya xfce4 environment.
Intel Core i5-3230M processor 4GB RAM
All other software I use is up-to-date as well.

I'm on Linux, and updated to Firefox 66 yesterday. I was looking forward to the new feature that disallows websites auto-playing videos. But I found that it's not the case. For example, https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-03-19/how-an-extra-man-in-cockpit-saved-a-737-max-that-later-crashed still starts playing the video automatically. This is just one of the many I've tried so far.
Am I missing any settings? There was none I could find having done a quick search on the preference page.

I prefer the tabs to be under the address bar on my Firefox. Previously I could simply click or unclick an option to do this, and it remained the same as I upgraded. However, I recently moved to Linux Mint 16, and it had Firefox 24 already installed. I synched my bookmarks, but was unable to locate the option to move the tabs. I actually have the roomy bookmarks toolbar, and the tabs previously sat below it. Ideally, I would like to get them there again.

I'm just wondering how to get them back from whatever I did or just how to get them.
I took a screenshot of the tab shape I have now:

Dear Developers,
I'm using Firefox v60.0.1 on Debian Linux. I was wondering why on Earth is the Ctrl-Q shortcut is defined at all to immediately close all tabs and quit the browser? I think it is an extremely bad idea to have this shortcut, since it is very easy to accidentally hit it by mistyping Ctrl-W, which is in turn oftentimes used.
I suggest to remove Ctrl-Q from future versions, or at least give the user the option to turn it off. In the current version I have found no way to do it, if there is, please let me know.
Many thanks in advance!

I can't find an explanation to justify the removal of the 'hide tab bar' option. Can you guys explain your reasons for doing this?
There are compelling practicalities why the hide tab option was better integrated. As far as I can see demoting the option to add-on status smacks of 'policy' rather than a deep concern for usability.
I don't really care if my question annoys or inconveniences because other users have already complained about this. I'm more worried that no-one from Mozilla can be sufficiently bothered to explain why they wanted to dispose of the option, in order to limit choice and add to user frustration.
Why are the developers not hearing of the problem?

I posted a few days ago my issue where with major system resources Firefox slowly drags down internet performance.
This was followed by someone on our LUG posting about his wife and him having the same issue except a lot earlier but also with less system resources.
I'm betting that this issue of Firefox eating resources until it has to be restarted is a known one.
Why hasn't this been looked into by the coding team?

I hate automated things, when it's NON consensual and it's part of some automated bullshit trip.
I might have half finished texts on the other open tabs, or what ever, but it's MY bandwidth to chew up on things I see fit, not the people of Mozilla, or Google or whoever.
And while the account page is gmail, that I am signing into or out of, the other pages are NOT google pages either.
I think the designers of the "refresh / automatic refresh" should be shot - because the reason I have a PAGE (tab) open, is because I want to access THAT page, and not a later version of it...
This auto-reload / refresh of some tabs absolutely annoys the piss out of me, because I did not ask for it, and there is NO apparently easy up front way to stop it from happening - which I also think is one of the best way to alienate users of a product - by building in a host of idiot functions with NO control over them.
So how do i stop this from happening?
