48.0.2 on Mountain Lion 10.8.5. Fullscreen video on the CNN site plays initially, then stops with a circling round arrow. Lately it has started to do this with that video on the side as you scroll down the screen, as well. Very maddening. No problems on other sites. If I cannot fix this quickly and simply I will have to go to Chrome. Updated flash yesterday, no joy. Suggestions welcome. Thank you

I have a few dozen RSS feeds, among which askwoody.com and ghacks tech news. After updating to v48, the vast majority of them won't load. Not after a full reboot either, and deleting them and readding them does not help either.

Running W7 full updates, have tried disabling all addons, no joy.

Due to prior problems, I uninstalled and installed a new Firefox about a month ago. After that, I started getting error messages when I attempted to open the browser. (See attached image.) In the past week, Firefox has had more progressive problems. It started out with just a slow loading of pages, but this became prevalent with every page I attempted to load. I tried using the Refresh option, but this only lasts for about 20 minutes. I scanned my system with Super Antispyware, Malwarebytes and Norton 360 and removed all threats found. (Then I removed Malwarebytes to lower the number of security programs on my system.)

The crashes started about 3 days ago so I went to Support and tried to follow those steps. Nothing changed in Safe Mode. Nothing improved and in fact, things got worse. When I again uninstalled Firefox, I thought I was "wiping the slate clean", but this time, it reloaded what I'd have before. (The first time I uninstalled and re-installed, the new "copy" didn't have my bookmarks. Last night, when I re-installed, all the bookmarks were there.) Additionally, now there is a tiny red vertical line on each tab that I have open. It is to the right of the X to close the tab and appears with every tab I open. Also, since this second re-install, the browser keeps crashing. Last night, it gave me more than 6 chances to submit a crash report within a half hour. This morning, in the past 2.5 hours, I have submitted 4 crash reports. If you can't fix this, I'll have to use a different browser. I know that in this time frame, when I used Edge, there was only 1 crash report and when I've used Chrome, there have been none. I would prefer to use Firefox, but not if these situations are going to continue. At the present, the image that I want to upload regarding the error message mentioned in the first paragraph has still not loaded, but I'm going to submit this. I have no idea what will happen.

P.S. When I looked at your "educated guesses", I discovered that it said my OS was Windows 7. No! It's Windows 10.

I got a message saying Firefox was staring slowly, not taht I had particularly noticed, and it offered to 'refresh'.

A quick glance at the consequences said it would get rid of 'extensions' but no mention of add-ons.

So I stupidly went ahead and lost adbloc (and all its settings), spell checker etc.

No advice given on how to reverse this (is Mozilla following Miscrosoft policies now?)

A web search pointed out that old settings were saved on the desktop, but the advice of copying over the old user profile and deleting the new one didn't work, in fact Firefox refused to start at all saying the profile was broken - surely this is wrong, it should start in default mode.

Finally I got things working by restoring the 'new' profile and copying the old one's contents over it so I kept the new profile folder name.

The badly worded page encouraging users to 'refresh' needs to be changed urgently is if a relatively informed user like me can be caught out, it is going to leave lots of less experienced folks reduced to tears of rfrustration.

1 It need to make it explicit that people will lose ALL of their APPs and settings

2 Their needs to have a reliable and automated path to reverse the changes which is easily accessible

3 Ideally, before nuking everything, it should display a list of add ons and allow you to select those which you want to keep or remove.

The refresh feature as it stands is a complete car-crash. Also I question the basis on which it is judging Firefox as slow to start, I don't consider under 2 seconds as 'slow'. I had just assumed that refresh would just get rid of temp files or indexes that had become cumbersome etc.

On an unrelated security issue can somebody advise where I can find the following; To disable WebRTC in Firefox, go to about: config and toggle media.peerconnection.enabled to false.

these directions obviously refer to earlier versions but I would like to make this very adjustment please?

For a month, I have been trying to purchases items at some websites but purchase doesn't go through all the way. These are sites I have bought from before. Now I can't.

The green lock is present, but also have a circle with letter " i " in it and a shield.

When I click on the circle or shield it say "Firefox is blocking parts of the page that may track your browsing". These are present on all pages through to purchase. I've tried different cards and pay pal for these purchases. None will go through to confirmation page even after a sign on with password. It takes my info but after i click to buy it doesn't confirm sale with a receipt.

My Firefox and Norton's software both are up to date. I did a refresh for my Firefox but didn't help. I also called Norton's about this and told it was a problem with Firefox. Can someone give me any info on how to fix this ? It's very frustrating.

Hi, I have been struggling for a while (i think after firefox automatically updated!) with not being able to save history. This means everytime i type something in search bar it takes me straight to google to click on a link- rather than me just selecting something in the search bar. I also do not have any bookmarks (and I REALLY depend on my bookmarks) and all my past bookmarks have disappeared which is infuriating! Do not try and say that you just need to restor from your profile.. as I do not have a profile- I have searched and searched and it does not exist!

After the most recent update, the drop-down menu for the address bar/url bar is now the entire width of the screen, as opposed to the width of the address bar, which means that it not only looks clunky/cluttered, but there is a lot of unnecessary space. Also, the page title now displays in front of the page url, as opposed to on top like before.

So, this has prompted two questions from yours truly: 1) Why was this change made? It does not seem practical or needed from my view, and it's not the nicest-looking change either. 2) Is there a way I can get the address bar drop-down menu to look like it used to?

Edit: Also, the scroll bar for the dropdown menu is gone too. How do I replace it?

I have seen several other posting and tried the steps resolving the issue, but no success.

When I use Search Engine it always converts to Yahoo regardless of setting. I will go to Options > Search and change default search engine to Google and have removed Yahoo as search engine option completely.

I have gone to control panel and there were no Yahoo components to remove.

Also gone to extensions and none for Yahoo.

I have stopped using Mozilla due to it always going to Yahoo as default despite all setting, Ad-ons, etc. removed. What else needs to be done to stop this from happening? Or should I be done with Mozilla?
