When any PDF contains bookmarks, the built-in PDF viewer defaults the navigation pane open to the bookmarks tab. It also flows the navigation pane OVER the PDF content when launched. If I maximize the window, the nav pane will dock to the side and allow the full document to be viewed, but not when it is first launched. Is there a way for me to change the behavior and only expose the nav pane if I choose to open it?

Thanks!

Firefox used to save screenshots of the web pages in PNG. It was totally fine but after recent update to 64.0.2 screenshots are saved locally in JPG. I didn't find any settings for the screenshots in the preferences or about:config and I would like to change this behavior back to the way it was previously.

Is it possible?

Firefox 64.0.2 (64-bit) will not sync my Notes. I installed it through testpilot. I use Sync without issues to sync my Bookmarks. I click on the "Sign in to Sync" field, which shows the sign-in page, I sign in, and it returns me to the Notes bar where the field now reads "Reconnect to Sync", and after a while "Activate your Account". I also get a mail "New sign in to Sync". Did this several times, and on two different PC - a Laptop with Windows 10 and a desktop with Windows 7. My Android account has Notes connect to Sync without any issues. I tried the same with Noscript and ublock disabled. Thanks a lot for any pointers

The solution below no longer works. My current version of Firefox is 64.0.2

When did this problem start for you?

On Mac, Firefox 56 ratcheted up the security sandbox, limiting which files pages can use on your system. This apparently prevents Firefox from using font files in a "suitcase" or "Adobe Type 1" format. The developers are aware of this and some fixes were made in Firefox 57, but they might have missed some font types or unexpected font file locations.

To see whether this is the problem, and as a temporary workaround, you can reduce the sandbox security level back to what it was in Firefox 52-55 as follows:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste sand and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the security.sandbox.content.level preference and change the value from 3 to 1 and click OK

That change won't take effect until the next time you quit and restart Firefox

FireFox ver 64 works flawlessly, but v 65 will not run on my machine no matter what I have tried!

Symptoms with v65:

Intermittently does not start, hit icon again then loads but doesn't connect. Very slow when it loads. firefox.exe does not unload from memory, has to be shut in task manager

What I have tried so far;

FireFox refresh. unstall / reinstall uninstall uBlock Origin sfc /scannowall uninstall Avast uninstall VPN Delete all firefox files on system disk + delete all registry entries then reinstall. Install from full version .exe Removed VPN (Private Internet Access) Updated Windows and any and all drivers.

What am I missing ?

TIA, George...

I've started the slow process of sorting my bookmarks -or at least the ones that I remembered to tag when I created them- out of "other bookmarks". Unfortunately, while I can go into the Library window, select a tag, select all the items with that tag, and hit CTRL + X, doing this still only seems to copy the bookmark (despite graying it out like it knew what CTRL + X was supposed to do). Now I have duplicates, and deleting them presents equally probably-a-bug problems. Even if I figure out which duplicate is the "old" bookmark under the tag (such as by renaming them and checking which one was added to the target folder), deleting it deletes both. The best workaround I've been able to figure out is to temporarily change the target URL of the one I'm about to delete, since, as I correctly deduced (thanks @mybrain), it's deleting based on the target. Is there any better workaround, or should I report this as a bug (as I was going to do anyway) and hope for a fix? Also, where would the best place to make that report be?

I recently updated Firefox to 64.0.2 (64 bit), and since then, I no longer have the option to change the expiration of a screenshot taken with Firefox Screenshots. Before I updated, I could click on the text on the top left that says "expires in 14 days" and there was a dropdown menu with options to extend the expiration of the shot. Now, the "expires in 14 days" is just text, and clicking on it does nothing.

I know that I can save screenshots to my device, but I would also like the option of keeping them longer than 14 days in the cloud.

Expected outcome: Clicking on "expires in 14 days" opens a dropdown menu with multiple options to extend the expiration date.

Actual outcome: Clicking on "expires in 14 days" does nothing. There is no dropdown menu.

For months (maybe 6-8), every time firefox restarts for whatever reason, the browser windows always change in size, shape, and location. The "default" size always runs off the edge of the screen, which means they aren't functional as-is (whatever's off the screen obviously can't be read or otherwise interacted with). It also tends to consistently move windows to the left, so they're stacked right on top of each other (messily) instead of being spaced out.

I can and do resize it, but it's a complete pain to do so every single time... especially since I use cascading windows to let me navigate between windows easily, so the oversize and overlap means I can't easily access several windows until I do resize and move each one. Since my task bar/desktop is unreliable, I can't use the icons or shortcuts pull up windows unless I can actually click on them on the screen - this problem is outside the scope of the question, of course, it just explains why I cannot find a workaround.

Since firefox usually restarts when updating or other automated restarts, which triggers the windows to change size on restarting, I tried manually resizing the windows and then manually shutting down and reopening firefox to see if that would "save" the new sizes - this was a catastrophic failure, it failed to save or open *any* of my windows, showing no recently closed windows or tabs in history and no previous browsing sessions. And I do have it set up to open previous windows and sessions, I went through and double checked *every* setting after that. I did have session sync going, so I could save some of it - but only some, since session sync fails to save the history of any tab (to show previous pages) and I often stack several related pages in one tab to organize. I have turned to using automated shutdowns (forced shutdowns through the task manager, etc) since I at least won't lose everything that way.

I also tried (based on searching for possible solutions) disabling the window resize line in about:config (from here: https://codeyarns.com/2011/03/25/firefox-disable-window-resize-or-move/) which did nothing

I am tearing my hair out over this, any help would be really appreciated.

Issue is related to an existing issue located in a thread at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1232458 , but seeing as I have to create a new issue just to get the information I had that could contain a reason for it happening, the reply I attempted to leave in that thread is in this new one instead...

Original attempted reply: Same situation, but I believe I know what causes the problem (or at least what caused it in my case). I was trying to remove a URL that kept popping up that was no longer valid (related to Twitch usernames, seeing as users can change their usernames, which also changes their channel profile), rather than deleting the URL from my history, I instead attempted to use the "Forget About This Site" option in Firefox on the History listing; this not only caused the URL itself from auto-filling, but the entire domain... I don't particularly want to have to restore thousands of Bookmarks after uninstalling & reinstalling Firefox, so I'd sooner just post the details here & see if there is a way to reverse the "Forget About This Site" function where it's been misused in the past (in the mean time I'm just clicking on the correct links from my history in the drop-down history while typing it, but URL auto-completion for StreamLabs remains broken, those URLs changing along with Twitch usernames, explaining how URLs can be invalidated after a Twitch username change).

Hi FIrefox team, I have a Windows 10 display computer system that is switched on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It uses multiple Firefox windows to display charts and images, 10 windows in total.

Every morning, I come in to office and discover that most of the Firefox windows are displaying the "Gah! Something crashed." message. It gives a convenient blue button to reload all the tabs, but I would like to find out what is causing the crash and prevent crashes in the first place.

Here is a list of my submitted crash reports: bp-c5d9f2c2-5bc6-41de-bddd-7c0200190118 bp-bf25e5a0-cad1-4074-8ddf-929b10190118 bp-5674a715-89c3-4640-8047-73acb0190118 bp-442bc27e-1060-44e1-bb76-04aaa0190118 bp-20d258a7-7024-4598-871b-1462b0190118 bp-df21407f-8e9c-497f-a5da-1b3b40190118 bp-2a1bfd31-ba3b-4fa9-85dc-5b6330190118 bp-1c94d311-0d2c-40d1-b8d3-98ad40190118 bp-dad18dc2-80cd-4c09-911f-cfc2e0190118 bp-0b9f5eb9-9296-435a-a81e-4dca50190118 bp-8550c9ad-fc92-4fed-b18f-b08ef0190118 bp-b804dffd-357c-4cd0-8775-802240190118 bp-f0cbc689-173a-4985-9e2c-533b40190118 bp-53a5b4a9-cbaa-4acb-9e2d-5d3730190118 bp-444ace91-f119-4b07-abe3-52aa90190118 bp-91f59963-c384-40a8-bda0-3742d0190118 bp-ef79359b-d874-4fdc-a13f-2f8bc0190118 bp-41e45dec-df7e-426f-9ce5-79ede0190118 bp-0b6cb5b4-63ee-4961-a932-26d110190118 bp-8f1a7b0c-dae5-4267-a429-090cc0190118 bp-f926a9f2-c18b-498e-9124-c5d610190118 bp-8fdfd938-2455-4e35-a2ff-6fb390190118 bp-0d1d06d6-6b02-4120-993c-7855c0190118 bp-8216efb6-cfd6-4a3a-99a6-e906d0190118 bp-75055862-9253-4203-9540-4b56c0190118 bp-72d4461c-2dec-4b9a-aa77-886100190118 bp-0d595bae-c31e-43f4-8595-3628d0190118 bp-c0ad0570-4c66-4934-a3b8-10db00190118 bp-3d223716-1228-45f8-be6e-5e8d00190118 bp-2a0eeb33-7fd3-4bb9-9126-4ea230190118 bp-7645df77-c345-4125-962c-28bf30190118 bp-ee38c9ba-8af3-4ddb-b934-69ed00190118 bp-1fdb3c66-997d-4a09-9b8f-cb6b50190118 bp-d1b04b46-63ff-4a55-865a-35c8e0190118 bp-f0c7172e-0ae2-4b49-ba14-12e230190118 bp-829bd3f3-01a1-45bf-9be0-9511b0190118 bp-497479cc-613e-46c6-941a-27a400190118 bp-8f56cbd1-ad54-430e-b3de-76a3f0190118 bp-fc5b34f4-5d78-46a0-9117-fc5e80190118 bp-918b8676-4980-44a5-bba7-c60910190118 bp-0469f739-7f32-4438-9424-981350190118 bp-496588b4-2e69-4b07-b010-9b7090190118 bp-d05d2e63-cf38-47d9-b8f4-6c5bd0190118 bp-e540a4ed-25a2-491f-a100-cbef70190116 bp-5eca4c71-757f-486e-b341-110b20190109 bp-aaa90706-fc2d-44d4-8374-d82280181218 bp-b395dcab-4f78-4f05-b5ed-a0e4a0181213 bp-9b50ee2f-401b-4d5b-accf-578230181206
