I'm asking if it's possible for Firefox to Not Share USER Personal Data with Google Chrome. I have set all my preferences in Firefox browser to not share, be secure, use private browser, etc. to a the extent possible based on settings. I don't have "location services" turned on on my Mac or Ipad mini and yet some things open up and they know where I am. I feel like I've lost any ability to maintain privacy and that I feel I cannot control it as even setting up settings, I'm aware that some coding only gives impression your safe but in fact YOU ARE NOT!! I am security conceous to a fault and yet I don't feel safe on either device. Can Mozilla/Firefox stop sending user data to Google Chrome to help with keeping privacy user personal data. I saw an article recently that says they are testing .05 of their users to in effect "from MY PERSONAL OPINION" they are stealing this data for them to use WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. Government protections are not kept up to speed and using a computer these days seems to insist that I give up my personal rights to MY DATA. It's ALWAYS MY DATA and not theirs... Using a "any service" does not make it your data but they do have a responsibility to keep it safe and it should not be shared out side MY express consent. It seems we are losing that ability more and more. So I'm asking if Mozilla can stop sharing USER PERSONAL DATA with Google Chrome?

Why do I get this message when I try to go to NBT Banks website: The page isn’t redirecting properly

An error occurred during a connection to nbtbank.com.

This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

I only get this on my laptop, my desktop works fine. The settings on both browsers are set the same.

Hi,

The privacy and security settings don't work on Firefox 88 on Linux (Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS). Many sites will offer the option to 'Login with google/facebook/whatever' rather than creating a new account for that specific site. One really annoying (and dangerous) consequence of 'logging in with google' is that it remains logged in. So for example if I log in to non-google siteX using my google credentials and then hours later open gmail in a different tab I get straight through to my gmail inbox without having to supply any credentials (and indeed any other user of the same machine could do the same). Obviously this highly insecure and dangerous policy of keeping me logged in indefinitely is implemented by Google for their own agenda and has nothing to do with Firefox. The bug in Firefox is that when I clear all data to work around this google problem FIREFOX does not work as advertised. So to try to 'force' a logout from my Google account I go to Firefox -> Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Cookies & Site Data -> Clear Data, after a few minutes of churning away at my harddrive Firefox informs me that 'Your stored cookies, site data, and cache are currently using 0 bytes of disk space.' For good measure I then hit the 'Clear History' button. After this I open a fresh tab and go to gmail and I get straight into my inbox, no credentials required, so clearly Firfox is NOT deleting all cookies etc and is mis-reporting that 0 bytes are being used. So, does anyone know where/how I should report this dangerous privacy bug ?

Thanks MH

Firefox lost all my logins/passwords. This happened last year and now it happens again. I've tried to find the old logins.json file and of course it does not work with it. It is empty. I'm using linux and there is no problem with any antivirus, it is simply a Firefox 'classical' error!

WHY is this happening? What is in the mind of the programmer responsible for this error? I can't understand why is he unable to keep a single file intact?

Why Mozilla is blaming the user for not having a backup. Firefox is messing this file, not the user! Why don't you fix Firefox and stop blaming the user? Why don't you simply FIX THE PROBLEM? You are "working on it" for years. Is it rocket science to JUST LET THE FILE ALONE?

Hi Firefox In one of the updates I lost all my saved passwords. I responded "no" to access the saved passwords in one of the updates, afraid of giving some external hackers access to them, not knowing that I would lose them all. Is there any way to get the lost passwords back? Is there any files on my hard disc where these are stored? I hope that you can help me.... With Regards

hello, i searched a bit and refreshed FF, started in FF in safe mode(currently in safe mode), shifted to work offline then shifted back, as possible solutions. No proxy is selected in network preferences. All that did was make it so whatsmyip.com now says no proxy when it said proxy in use before. it's showing las vegas as my location this time. My real location is hawaii and all my other browsers show this. The "problem" is months old. I have to verify that im not a robot regularly, and certain sites give an error 403, (iirc), but work fine with safari because it isn't using a proxy. Is it possible there is some sort of malware causing this? mac os10.12.6 FF88.0.1 (64bit)

I sure hope you can. I purchase Family Tree Make 2019 recently and chose to download the program. I currently have Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge. But Edge will not allow me to download the program: it sends me a message that it is blocked. I've spent several hours trying to untangle this problem with FTM support and doing my own research on the 'net. The latest suggestion is that I try a different browser and Firefox was suggested. Now I'm not interested in becoming computer savvy; I just want to do genealogy. Is this something Firefox can support without thirteen pages of instruction? My second question: I will have to buy a new operating system this fall as Windows 10 is apparently no longer supported. What program would you recommend? Thanks ahead of time for your help.

But other browsers are okay with this trustworthy site. How can I change settings in FF to be able to connect to zeist.raadsinformatie.nl?

Most sites make a lot of noise about browser.pagethumbnails.capturing_disabled - and they repeat just one after another that this should be set to "true" to prevent thumbnail storage. But when you look at the right source, like: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Preferences/Preference_reference/browser.pagethumbnails.capturing_disabled

true (default)

The application creates screenshots of visited web pages.

false

The application doesn't create screenshots of visited web pages.

The name of the parameter is confusing. But it seems that it should be set to "false" to prevent thumbnail storage. And the right question should be about reading abilities ;) But I will ask another one - does Mozilla will try to conntact with those sites and say them that they are wrong? Have a nice day folks! :)

I am using the firefox version 17 and when i drag and drop an image on my website. It gives me the following error.

Unable to access local files due to browser security settings. To overcome this, follow these steps: (1) Enter "about:config" in the URL field; (2) Right click and select New->Boolean; (3) Enter "signed.applets.codebase_principal_support" (without the quotes) as a new preference name; (4) Click OK and try loading the file again. Or go to the homepage for a link to the tutorial on how to do it.

I have completed the above steps and it is still showing the same error message. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks.

So three years on we still appear to be waiting for an answer!

My FF17 still only has options for SSL3.0 and TLS1.0 so presumably the 'Bug' 565047 and 480514 are still in the process of being resolved?

The problem is in the meantime, is that the recently the PCI people started flagging up BEAST as a FAIL. Other assessors may have already been doing this since June 2012 or earlier, but ours has just started it since their last report. Organisations wishing to be compliant must remove or disable certain ciphers from the server, forcing the connecting browser to use RC4. (Some assessors will permit prioritising but ours will fail us and force us to appeal after every assessment). We know FF supports RC4 so that's no problem, but pressure is also mounting to ensure that only SSL3.0, and TLS1.1/.12 are enabled at the server to ensure the best security posture and full compliance. For example in Windows 2008RC2 this is neccessary in order to mitigate against BEAST and our understanding is that this is what the MS12-006 patch does.

This means that browser support for TLS1.1 and TLS1.2 is now essential rather than optional. In the current climate we are forced to seriously consider banning and removing browsers that do not support the latest TLS versions from our workstations as these are now being regarded as non-compliant with the latest security standards.

So will someone at Mozilla therefore please answer the question : WHEN will support for TLS1.1 and TLS1.2 be available please?

If it is already available (and we missed it) then how do we ensure it is enable please?

Thanks.
