So I rested my Windows 10 yesterday and I reinstalled Firefox which I was fine with because I had enabled Sync. It was fine except my history was not restored at all. All my bookmarks and passwords were fine and there was not a loss of data in those two. Now, I found my old Firefox profile (I'm guessing it is the old one) in the Windows.old folder and I have a new profile now (obviously). Is there a way to retrieve the history from the old profile? Also, does the Sync feature not sync the browser history?

I'd like it if Firefox would automatically convert webp images to jpg or png files instead of the opposite... stop trying to save png or jpg files as webp... and stop serving me webp images when it is optional. I understand there are websites that ONLY display webp format images, but I am also aware that jpg and png files exist on many of these websites as well. I do not want to disable the ability to display webp in the browser, but I want to turn off whatever option is currently turned on.

I'd like to go back to being able to right click, Save Image As > and end up saving a png or jpg. There have been several websites over the last few weeks that I have visited, and even if the image in the URL is named jpg or png, Firefox tries to save it as a webp. This is complicating my image saving process. I am using the Add-on named "Save webP as PNG or JPEG" which works, but slows down my saving process considerably. The Add-on does not remember the last folder I saved an image to, and adds several additional clicks to what used to be a simple process.

Is there a way in about:config to prevent Firefox from putting webp as the default file format in the Save Image As dialog box?

Suggesting that I use Internet Explorer or Edge is crazy. I'm not changing browsers.

You can demo this annoyance by trying to save this image, which is obviously supposed to be a jpg: https://media.entertainmentearth.com/assets/images/7c23e8c9a6014c57aa8f5d3e281b3834lg.jpg

Hello,

When a page inside <iframe> request permission of using microphone or camera, the firefox don't ask permission (the asking permission panel don't show up!), below is an example:

if you directly open https://meet.jit.si/test123 in firefox, the Firefox will ask microphone and camera permission from the user but if you open https://test.spacex.ml/ which put https://meet.jit.si/test123 in an iframe then FIrefox don't ask any permission and refuse user to use microphone and camera!

Please help, thanks!

I use 2 or 3 websites (in the UK) regularly which allows me to check local stock of items I want to buy and then collect. I use Page info and change the Allow Location / Permissions to do this. Every time I restart FF or re start my Mac or FF does an update these chosen settings are lost and reverts to default. How can I make this setting a permanent thing, it's a bit irritating not to be able to Save this preference. (FF v78.0.2esr / Mac 10.11.6)

One of my Windows 10 PCs running Firefox is not remembering my setting privacy.resistFingerprinting=false. After each restart if reverts to privacy.resistFingerprinting=true.

Has anyone experienced and solved this problem previously? Which config file is this setting stored in outside of FF?

Firefox is on latest release (v79) but this has been persistant across previous releases as well. Thanks

Hello Community,

I'm new here ;)

My Question is:

Why didn't the new version 79.0 install itself automatic like the other versions did before? I should download it from the Homepage and install it (maybe deinstall the Browser before). I got v.78.0.2 64bit on a Windows 10 desktop.

Thank you, friendly regards,

Robert

Bonjour ( from France )

I am submitting to you a problem that only appears with your browser and not with Chrome.

These are the cookies that I have configured on my PC to refuse them, it's my choice!

I accept them occasionally when certain sites I visit ask me to

When I connect to my portal, Orange in this case, I always have this banner (see the print sceen attached) which appears each time either by opening my inbox on each of the messages, or by consulting different subjects presented by the home page.

In vain I answer that I accept or refuse, it works on a few selection clicks then the banner reappears!

It's very very annoying

So I switch to Chrome and I don't have this pb so I conclude that it comes from Firefox!

I am retired from IT with 50 years in the business and I do not understand this bug.

Could you delete this permanent alert, especially since it has only appeared for a very few years.

Of course I could do without Firefox and use Chrome as my default browser, but I prefer Mozilla to Google.

Thank you in advance for your answer and remove this headband that breaks our feet.

Multiple questions, all somewhat related: 1. Why is it when I click into the address bar, I get a drop down with several options: Search with Google, youtube, Facebook, reddit, wikipedia, twitter? (see photo). All I want to do is type in an address and go to another site. I shouldn't be blasted with other options.

2. When I start typing in the address bar, the above options go away (thankfully) but then I get a double-repeat drop down of what I'm typing in the address bar. Is this really necessary....that I get what I've typed listed 3 separate times? What I've actually typed in the address bar, then a 2nd time that says "visit" after it, and then another line with the google symbol with what I've typed (again, see photos). Is this really necessary? Why not just the one line I've typed? The other two are useless and seem to indicate I really need confirmation that what I typed is what I meant.

I've already turned off the "use the address bar for search and navigation" option (see photo).

Basically, I want the navigation bar to be used ONLY for navigation. I've got a search bar in the toolbar for searches.

Pointofmail track emails messages sent in Gmail. They have prevented messages being sent. They do not provide a telephone number to call nor a street address. They have an email address (support@pointofmail.com) but don't respond to anything. The problem arose when I took up a free 30 day trial with their product, after which I did not wish to subscirbe. There is nowhere giving the "no thanks" option. Do you know how I can free myself from Pointofmail when Gmail is used in Firefox? Gmail works OK in other browsers (Thunderbird and Google). Please advise.
