So all of a sudden my enter key stopped working while using the address bar..

What I've tried so far

1. Starting firefox in safe mode - Didn't work 2. Reinstalling firefox - Didn't work 3. Resetting without any addons - Didn't work..

So did the Update 39 screw up something or is it just me ?

Also I'm not using AVG.

I recently updated Firefox (I don't know the update number, but for reference, the date is July 3rd 2015) and now, whenever I open a new tab and type in the address bar to go to a website, it doesn't register when I hit enter. Autofill seems to be disabled, too. Firefox also seems to not respond more frequently than usual. (My computer is slow and around 5 years old so I am used to Firefox not responding to me every now and then.)

I've already tried system restore, but it turns out my system was out of restore points. Restarting didn't help, either. I am able to navigate the web through links, and I currently have a Google tab open to get to the websites I need rather than using the address bar, but this is worrying me. Is it something with the Firefox update that didn't sit right with my computer, or could I have gotten a virus of some kind?

There is a known bug with Firefox affecting some people who have a certain type of corruption of a of a database file. This causes errors that result in the address bar not working. For such people the first step is to try to use the addon places maintenance to repair the database. If that fails the file places.sqlite needs to be renamed. I recently installed the latest update for Firefox and now when I select from my history (which works) the selected address will show in the address box but the browser will NOT take me to the desired page no matter what I do, click enter, green arrow, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just updated firefox and now the address bar will not direct to a website or direct to any previous website. Through shortcuts I can navigate to google's webpage and then look up websites from there but firefox direct URL entry does not work. I have tried restarting in safe mode but that does not allow me to enter anything and I have tried a clean reinstallation which changed nothing.

Starting yesterday I noticed I was unable to open web pages using the address bar <enter>. I went through a few solutions posted here to no avail.

I have disabled all plugins, started in safe mode, refresh firefox, and reinstalled. Any help is kindly appreciated.

With the most recent update I not cannot navigate by keying in a URL, only by using a search engine. The smart suggestions (or whatever they're called) still appear in a drop down, but selecting one of them doesn't work. Correct URL appears, but does not redirect. Issue is specific to Firefox; Chrome and IE still work normally on the same computer. I refreshed Firefox, but it still doesn't work. Anyone got any ideas about what else to try?

After updating to V 39.0, ALL internet connectivity has stopped completely. Can not connect to any websites at all. I checked my firewall software. It is Norton 360. Never have any problems with norton 360 at all. If I revert back to V 38.0.5, connectivity is resumed perfectly.

The only thing I can get to open anything up is the search bar. I tried typing "about:config" to try to reset the search from address bar and that did nothing as well. When I open tools at the top of my screen (i'm on mac) , I can get things like debug , etc to open from developer menu, but I'm not smart enough with computer stuff to mess with any of that. Should I try to reinstall or what? It's only since I updated it that everything seems to be screwed up, it would just be a pain in the butt to have it wipe out all my favorites, etc.

When I type an address in the address bar and click or hit enter nothing happens. Bookmarks still seem to work. I don't want to delete the program and re-install as I don't want to lose bookmarks and things. I tried starting it in in safe mode but that didn't work. Any quick fix is appreciated.

Last update, the video downloader stopped working...next update, could not watch Youtube videos in HD. I corrected everything but I'm getting really tired of having to fix things after every firefox update. I'm on the verge of just switching browsers. When I turn on a lamp, I expect there to be light...I don't expect that every time I turn on a lamp I will have to replace the outlet, rewire switches or update the electrical wiring. A browser should not be this much of a problem. Thank you again.
