I have a Firefox account and use it to sync across devices; being able to sync and then completely log out on one device is a primary reason I use Firefox.
I log out of devices that I do not own when I'm exiting Firefox. Today I opened Firefox on a device that I'm 100% certain I logged out of yesterday - and found that my bookmarks, bookmarks bar, and add-ons were already visible and active, and one of my add-ons was already logged in.
I verified that the Firefox Sync / login screen showed that no one was logged into the Firefox account, and then I logged in using my usual credentials. It reflected that I was then logged in, but everything else remained visible.
I followed Firefox instructions for viewing the logs, and strangely, there was no log. I went up a directory, and found that all the logs were in the 'failed' directory. Clicking on each of the failed subfolders shows only: ids []
This is very concerning because it entirely negates the security and privacy aspects of having a login. I was not logged into Firefox - and the Firefox interface confirmed that this morning, in addition to confirming it when I logged out yesterday - yet somehow not only were my personal bookmarks showing, but one of my add-ons was also logged in, providing further access to anyone who might have opened a Firefox window from this device.

I did a Firefox restore due to suspect browser hijack ( it wasn't). All mu saved logins have been eraases so tried to do a manaul sync.
This pops up a yellow bar along the top of the "Logins and Paswords" page saying "Please enter your master password to view saved logics and passwords" . I don't have a master password set so that makes little sense. To the right of the yellow bar is a button "login". if i click the button ther yellow bar goes away but there is no log in dialog.

Dear Mozilla team,
Recently i installed a Mozilla browser on a new device. I log in to my account but nothing is getting synced. I have over 500 bookmarks and several add-ons and those are information that are of utter importance to me. They contain half of my work and research.
Please provide me assistance with this case.

I have two PCs one Linux the other Windows 10. I can sign on to my Firefox account on both machines Synch seems to be enabled on the Linuz PC only. When I try to connect Synch to the Windows PC I get the image which is on the first attached Screenshot. Following these direction I sign in to Firefox account on Windows and get the screen displayed in the second attachment. After about ten seconds it switches to the word "Working.." and stays there for hours.

This issue has been around for years with no actual solution. I recently finally got around to disconnecting three of my devices (laptop, Samsung tablet and Samsung smartphone) from Firefox Sync in order to determine if the problem is sync-related. The bookmarks toolbar on my main device (another laptop) were still being randomly rearranged. I therefore disconnected this laptop from sync as well. The bookmarks toolbar has since been stable with no rearranging. This is telling me that this is a sync issue, not an issue with a corrupt places.sqlite file, an add-on/plug-in or hardware acceleration, as previously suggested by Mozilla, which was then marked as a solution. Sync has often been quite useful, but since I have my bookmarks (folders) arranged in alphabetical order on the toolbar for quick access and use them all frequently, I'd rather forego sync than deal with constant reordering of the bookmarks toolbar. I gather from what I've read that this problem also exists in the Google Chrome web browser. Even if the problem is a corrupted places.sqlite file, surely the sheer number of users experiencing the issue would suggest a bug or vulnerability with that file, irrespective of what add-ons are installed since the likelihood of all those users having the same add-on(s) installed is probably minimal. Surely it's about time Mozilla properly investigated (e.g. what add-on(s) is causing the issue, how the places.sqlite file can become corrupted, how sync is causing the problem, etc., etc. and disseminating the findings to users) and actually solved this issue instead of expecting users (the IT-savvy ones at least) to waste time doing their own futile troubleshooting. I really don't think that I should have had to disconnect from sync in order to "fix" this problem.
Can't backup bookmarks. The bookmarked sign on bookmarked pages dissapears few moments after every launch. Sync is stuck on syncing. Can't add new bookmarks.

After starting Firefox, Sync starts and gets stuck on "Syncing" till I restart. Ever page shows as bookmarked for a while and then they all turn into not bookmarked. Backups won't be saved. Changes to bookmarks and adding new ones won't work either. Have tried a new profile, deleting xulstore.json and places.sqlite and have also tried safe-mode and all of them together. The sync is still in a loop. I have about 56000 bookmarks(I know that's a lot!) but it didn't use to take more than a few seconds. And not being able to see the last sync time by hovering really sucks as well btw.

I have been using FF for years and *had* my browser set up perfectly. I got a new travel laptop and decided to install FF there and sync the settings from my main computer to the new laptop.
Unfortunately sync decided that my newly installed browser's settings were more important and removed all of my open tabs, history, settings, etc from my everyday browser.
This is super counter-productive; I've lost hours of work trying to relocate all of the browser windows I had open and getting all of the settings back to normal.
I rarely ever complain online about buggy software but this was so annoying I just had to.
Maybe consider disabling Sync until you can figure out how to either alert the user that all of their settings are about to be overwritten or provide an option to assign a particular browser as the master and all syncing begins from that.
I can't set up the new Firefox Sync because it requires an iPhone or Android phone and I have a Blackberry
While many Android apps install on the BlackBerry, the Firefox app does not. How can I continue to use Firefox without getting rid of my phone?

My Windows 10 desktop system recently suffered a serious failure. The SSD C: drive suffered some sort of catastrophic fault, and the device is completely unresponsive and it's contents are unrecoverable. All of my data files were on a different drive and are backed up in multiple places, but all my app config files stored in the appdata directory--including my Firefox profile--are gone forever.
I replaced the drive, reinstalled Windows and all my apps, etc., etc., including Firefox, which synced with my Windows laptop and everything is just about back to normal. EXCEPT that all of my 50 or so open tabs from that machine are no longer available. From the Synced Tabs list on my laptop, I can see an entry for the newly restored desktop system, but the tab list for that device is empty. In the Devices & Apps list on my Firefox Account page, I can see entries for all of my devices include TWO entries for the desktop system, the newly restored system as well as the old pre-crash system.
So the question is this:
1) Does Mozilla store the open tabs list for that system on their servers; and
2) Can I recover that tabs list somehow?
Thanks in advance. --scott--

I am using firefox on my desktop and laptop with sync to get the same bookmarks, extensions, logins & passwords on both. Yesterday I did a fresh re-install of windows and firefox on my laptop. Them I logged into sync.
After a few minutes, it got my bookmarks and my extensions reinstalling, but that was yesterday and ever since, I never got my logins and passwords.
I checked the "logins" box in about:preferences#sync, checked "use a master password" in about:preferences#privacy and did a "sync now" but still no passwords and logins. They should still be on my desktop (I did not start it since) but I am afraid they will disappear when I connect if it syncs with the laptop which has none of them.
How can I be sure I keep them on my desktop when I turn it on? Can I save them somehow?
And then how can I get them on my laptop too?

I"ve read through other articles. My firefox and sync are up to date. I have bookmarks checked. I use two firefox on two different microsoft PCs. I tried changing my options in sync to see if the chances would show up in firefox on my other computer. They did, so I have that much right. I tried turning off bookmarks in the sync, syncing, then clicking the box and syncing again. I want to say it can't be me, but of course it has to be or everyone would be having the same problem.

I have been using Firefox since it first came out and replaced the old Mozilla browser. When Firefox Sync first came out, I used it a few times and it messed up my bookmarks. As a result, I went back to manually syncing my bookmarks by exporting them on my primary computer and then deleting and importing them on my secondary computer. I recently tried Firefox sync again and it messed up my bookmarks again. The result was double the bookmarks and folders. I have a first set of bookmarks and folders that appear the be synced followed by a second set of bookmarks and empty folders. The second set follows the same order as the first set above starting with Bookmarks Toolbar, Other Bookmarks, Recently Bookmarked, Recently Tagged, and then a bunch empty folders. Also in the first set, many of my favicons are missing. What is going on and how can I fix this?

I have an android phone running android 9 (Pie) and I had over 100 tabs on it open (mostly news articles and stuff). It is signed into my Firefox account. I realized that's a lot of tabs and the past 2 days I've been actually sorting them and closing some of them. I realized I could do this on my desktop as well. Anyways my phone froze while I had Firefox open, and I realized my tabs on there were all missing... I decided not to panic yet because I could still get to them on my desktop. Turns out when I open the "synced tabs" pane on my desktop which is logged into the same firefox account.. none of the 100+ tabs are there anymore either. How do I actually contact someone that can revert my sync status or whatever to a previous state so I can get my tabs and stuff back that I had open? Firefox crashing on my phone SHOULD NOT EVER somehow close all of those tabs on BOTH the phone and the computer. I guess the crash of firefox somehow wiped them out, and then my desktop synced with that account, realized those tabs were "closed" and cleared the list there as well.

Windows 10 (1903). Quite often I find that sync never completes, the spinning wheel, it just keeps spinning. I have to exit Firefox and restart, and upon restart I need to kill the previous Firefox instance. Then, and only then, will sync work. But not for long, usually in a few hours it's hung up again. This only happens on my Windows 10 machine (sync works fine with my FF mobile and Windows 7 devices).

I'm pretty sure that these e-mails started after i checked the secondary e-mail on Firefox Monitor. I may have signed up for the notification service. So i to readded the sec. e-mail, logged in to Firefox Monitor, added the sec. e-mail to the breach alerts and deleted it once again. No success.

Recently got a new work desktop computer and when Firefox 68.0.1 was installed, it will not sync with my home desktop computer. On both computers, in the "Devices and Apps", both do show up as connected, but the work computer still will not sync. When I click to "connect another device", it only tried to install Firefox on my phone - no other option. I have spent 15 hours doing everything I can find on line to fix, but nothing works. I even uninstalled Firefox and ALL related items on my work computer and tried to install a couple of older versions, thinking maybe I could get it to sync and then do an update; however when ever I try to install any older version, it only installs 68.0.1. I am a CEO/software engineer I know my way around computers very well, but still can not solve this problem. I may be forced to switch browsers.
