I recently had to wipe my MacBook Air clean thus prompting me to download Firefox - version 70.01 (64-bit). I set up all of my work websites, history, passwords, emails, etc., but every time I close the browser and try to open it again, nothing is saved. I've tried several times and I am at a loss. Yes, I have created a Firefox account, and even this won't leave me logged in if I close the browser. I have to start over every time. Any advice?

Hello and thanks in advance for your help!
For many years, the content management system that I have been using has worked just fine with previous versions of Firefox. To access the backend area for a client of mine to edit their own website I built for them, they would go to their website and hit Control-Y on any page of their website. This would bring up the login prompt window so they could login and start live editing their site. Now, when I hit Control-Y, nothing happens.
I saw a previous post that mentioned adjusting (allowing) keyboard shortcuts in the settings area. I did this but unfortunately, this didn't solve my issue.
Can someone tell me why this no longer works with Firefox and what the possible fix / workaround might be?
Thank you so much!!

As above. FF installed the update despite the checked option to NOT install automatically. NO "old firefox" folder was created-anywhere. No other profile is present that has the old data. My adult daughter's grad school laptop. Years of bookmarks, logins and I do not know what all ARE GONE!! I allowed FF to download but NOT INSTALL-since it was not my machine and I wanted to avert any disaster (I, in fact, looked at the options first, to make sure) NOW WHAT?? Is that is a bug?? Why was there no "old FF" created? Why did it install regardless of instructions to the contrary. Is there some other place to look? She does not seem to have any automatic backups for FF profiles.

This started when I installed V68 on my Mac (I'm on 68.0.2 now, Mac is 10.12.6). About half the time when I start my computer in the morning, when I try to browse *any* site (http or https), I get the TLS handshake attempt that lasts for several minutes, then connection fails.
BUT, *unlike other posts with this problem*, if I restart my computer (restarting FF does not fix it), all is well. A detail (not sure if relevant): the pages my (Comcast) server has local copies of, that is, my home page and a couple of very frequently accessed pages, I can access, but any other site, regardless of http or https, results in the TLS handshake "freeze 'n fail."
- Edit: I just lost then, 10 mins later, regained my Comcast (internet, mail, cable). I did not re-start computer or FF, but when signal returned, I got the dreaded TLS Handshake Freeze 'N Fail. Again, computer restart let me come here to report.

Hello, I have Firefox 68.0.2 installed on W7. I discovered that since recently network.http.spdy.enabled always reset to false ... tried to solve by following different solutions described on mozilla website ... tried to solve by reinstalling completely firefox software ... tried to solve by deleting completely the Mozilla User Roaming profile ... C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ ... ... but nothing change/fix ... network.http.spdy.enabled is always to false and network.http.spdy.enabled.http2 is always to true with the consequence that google, cloudflare, ... websites are no longer working with http/2. Is that a known issue ? Thank You in advance for your help Best Regards, Vincent

Youtube and other sites load very slow. Hangs on TLS Handshake fonts.googleapis. cant login in to google account. I get the message, "something went wrong". Tried all of the things suggested in the troubleshooting section to no avail. I don't have this problem with chrome or edge. I HATE both of those browsers and hope that this is a temporary issue with Firefox. Running win10 x64 with latest Firefox update. Is there anything that can fix this?
Thanks

I would love to ditch chrome. But, if I use firefox, after some period of time my entire desktop will freeze and I end up powering off my computer to recover and losing work as a result. In fact all web developers I have worked with avoid firefox for this reason.
I have had this same experience everywhere that I have run firefox. Thousands of different web sites on multiple different computers, multiple different operating system and as far back as I can remember, at least a decade, possibly since firefox has existed.
Someone must be able to use firefox without this happening. How do you do it? Yes, I've tried the various suggestions mentioned over and over for years and years.

After a recent automatic update my old problem with Firefox Quantum came back. Every time I open Firefox browser I get multiple 4-6 firefox.exe running in the background processes. When I go into details and try to end process tree it crashes my browser. When I open Firefox it starts all over again. I have gone into about:preferences and
De-select ‘Use recommended performance settings’ Set Content process limit value to ‘1’ from its default value
I have also gone into about:config and switched browser.tabs.remote.autostart to false. Still have the same problem.

I updated Firefox last night right before bed, to version 65.0.1. I did not go to any websites after that. This morning, none of my browser history from before today, 2/14, exists any longer. I first noticed this when typing in a website I check daily, but I didn't have any autocomplete suggestions (normally I just type the first 2 letters and get a suggestion of the full site and I am able to just hit enter to go there). Just now, I checked my history folder to find a site I have not visited in the last few months, but with no history before yesterday, I am not sure how to proceed. I believe my bookmarks are intact (I do not typically use bookmarks, but there are a handful present, and I did not create them today, so I believe they are from before last night's update).
I do use an add-on to record my open tabs, and it someone does go back longer than this, so maybe I can find some of the sites I used to have. However, I could really use the history feature, I have some stuff last summer I would like consult ASAP. I can verify that I have not manually erased my history, at least not going back before something I viewed within a given hour (I don't go back and erase things from say, yesterday, last week, last month, last year, etc). Any thoughts?

For a really long time I've been using an older version of Firefox (47.0b9, to be precise) because I didn't like the following updates. A week ago I noticed some problems with one website I was using and so thought that maybe it's because I was using outdated browser or something like that. To check this out I updated Firefox to newest (in that moment) version of it, but it wasn't the case, and because I didn't like the changes made to interface and other things I immediately downgraded it back to the version I was using earlier. But then I realized that all my browser history was gone.
I spent last week trying to undo or repair it, and so I found out that my browser history was still there, untouched, but for some reason older Firefox could not "see" it. After updating again to the newest version browser history was back and it showed again.
I tried many things, like System Restore or Firefox Sync, to somehow get the history back in the older version, but it just didn't work.
The thing is, while the history doesn't appear in version 47.0b9, the last session - tabs that I had opened - still showed, and when clicking on "History" button, before going into History window, there was a list of recently visited websites, and the last sites I visited before that whole situation were truly there, so I presume it has to have access to files that contain my browser history.
I am aware that there are supposedly some safety risks that come with using older version of Firefox, but I didn't experience any problems during my long usage of it so I don't see an issue.
I really need my browser history to work again in older version of Firefox, and not only because I don't like how newest version looks, but because of how search bar was changed (that is most crucial to me when it comes to this topic) and the fact that after upgrading the browser it started to work slower than before for some reason, which is quite jarring. Some other applications also started working slower, but it isn't as important as the browser.
I also tried slightly newer version of Firefox, but it seems that anything below 55 doesn't work. I think I've read somewhere that in version 55 any downgrade below started to not be supported anymore.
I'm sure there were some changes made to files that contain browser history and things related to it over the course of time. I think that "places.sqlite" file was actually five times bigger after updating to newest version, but I don't know why is that, I'm not really knowledgeable in that field.
But I wonder if there is anything I can do to make it work again in older version, specifically 47.0b9.
Thank you in advance for any help.
