Due to a failure in another machine, I have had to use an older laptop I had not used for over a year. It had an older version of FF with TabMixPlus and other addons which I had come to rely on an treasure. Now, perhaps because I clicked on the wrong dektop icon, all that has gone. All sessions, all OneTab entries, and of course multi-row tabs, plus all the other TMP features such as a "Protect Tab" (NOT "pin tab") which now seems to be history. The continued refusal of Firefox to implement multi-row tabs is completely baffling. Perhaps they are all adherents of some religion that has a strong view on such decadence - it is almost the only possible explanation. There seems to be a tendency to vastly reduce the number of options present to a user, as if the attitude was a patronising "we know what's best for you - don't worry, all will be ok". Yes, yes, yes, I know that multi-row tabs can be had, for a price, and that price is an afternoon tweaking numerous machines in weird places and wondering is MrOtherGuy's work really is the best (or the worst - who knows?) implementation. No chance of a nice extension or feature to do all this, of course.

The whole thing is very dismaying. Life with FF used to be fun - it is now an endless hassle. Unless, of course, you forsake all and follow their way of doing things and confess that you were wrong all along, and that no sane person would ever want multi-row tabs.

It seems that the text and icons on my tabs have stopped working. Nothing happens when I click them. If I click the tab outside of the text or icon, they work as expected. This is driving me crazy! Anyone have an idea of what's going on?

Details:

  • Clicking the text on a tab doesn't focus that tab, nothing happens
  • Clicking just below the text, but inside of the tab, activates the tab as it should
  • Same is true for the new tab button
  • Pinned tabs are not affected, they work fine
  • Hovering over the tab doesn't highlight the tab, unless you hover below the tab

What I've tried, that didn't work:

  • Tried a full "Reset Firefox"
  • Started Firefox in Safe mode with
  • Switched from Firefox beta to Firefox stable by reinstalling from scratch

Mitigation:

  • Maximizing Firefox makes all the tabs work again (!)

Context:

  • This started happening after I had my computer hooked up to an external screen. I've tried connecting to the same monitor again, but this doesn't change the current broken behaviour.

I'm running out of ideas, could anyone tell me what's going on?

The subject line says it all. Firefox version 80.0.1 (64-bit) running on Ubuntu.

The Preferences / Startup / Restore previous session is ticked. Deleting sessionstore files (as per https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1185765) doesn't fix this. There are no Restore Previous Session item available anywhere (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1261571)

This appears to have happened only since the latest update. I typically work with 20-30 opened tabs at a time, so this is very annoying, and it it wasn't for the Session History Scrounger for Firefox I'd be totally screwed. (The latest Firefox version also runs cripplingly slow at times, often consuming 100% of CPU according to 'top'.)

I have 2 windows of firefox and i close it using bat file. Which terminates process firefox. I used it like that long time and never had problem. However i launched firefox and it said some error and gave me 2 choices: either start in safe mode or refresh. I clicked on refresh and now all my tabs are gone. I checked under history and closed windows - there is nothing... Any way to get my tabs back?

Also how to avoid this issue, if you close window one by one. Than you go to go to library and history and manually restore window, or press some hotkey. Even that is annoying, instead of just using bat file to kill process and than you have both windows open. Because sometimes close window won't safe, if you use hotkey. So i gave up on that...
