I am using Hotdocs portal, which is an in-house document assembly tool. Firefox is the recommended browser, but it is recently handling 2016 docx files incorrectly. When we choose a file on the portal site (internal site), we go through the interview and are presented with a link to "download" the assembled file. When you click that link, a pop-up appears showing the file name as abc.docx but then says it is a Word 97 - 2003 document, even though it is not. The original template is not. If I choose to open the file, it ends up opening and showing as abc.docx.doc If I save the file, instead of opening it, it saves as abc.docx.

If we run this same process in IE/Edge, the file opens as abc.docx as it should. I have uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled. Is there anything that could be causing this? I've tried a bunch of troubleshooting steps and nothing seems to change this outcome.

Antes no estaba en ingles, espero que puedan responderme, no encontre como poner la pagina en español. Ya habia tenido problemas desde septiembre del año pasado, se colgo cantidad de veces, hubo del 24 de abril 13 cuelgues aproximadamente, no enviados, y unos cuarenta que envie el reporte, pero no paso nada, las respuestas fueron muy amables, pero no soluciono nada, ademas, para cerra un correo cualquiera de outlook me cuesta un monton, probe deshabilitar extensiones, pero no da resultado, por las dudas, copio los ultimos informes de error, hubo muchos mas, solo que no quiero mandar todo, seria mucho espacio y no quiero molestar, por favor, pregunte si el problema era por que tengo procesador de 32 bits, si ese es el problema, y no me contestaron, lamento no poder usar el navegador, pero en este estado, lo tendre que dejar lamentablemente de usar, solo quiero una respuesta concreta,solo eso pido. I am using Firefox on Mac OS Sierra and I manage a number of websites using Joomla. I've had a problem for at least a year whereby Joomla admin keeps on quitting when I'm navigating around the system in Firefox.

I finally gave up using Firefox for this purpose and I always use Google Chrome instead, and I've never had this problem occur in Chrome. I thought it might be related to my specific install, but on a couple of occasions when I've tried to use it on my laptop, which has a pretty pristine installation of FF, the same thing has happened.

However more problems seem to be surfacing over time, principally: 1. I am frequently unable to click a link on a web page until I refresh the page 2. Problems completing online forms. For example I just tried to make a payment transfer in Paypal but was unable to type in the amount. When I logged in with Chrome instead, it worked fine.

Firefox has been my preferred browser for a very long time and I'd like to continue using it as my main browser, but unless I can eliminate these sorts of problems.

I wonder if anyone has experienced similar problems and if they have found a solution to them?

All of a sudden, I get the message below from Firefox. My Safari, Chrome, etc connect fine but not Firefox. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, checked connections, etc. Still cannot get to work. Current version of MAC is macCatalina ver 10.15.5 (most recent update)


Unable to find the proxy server

Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that can’t be found.

   Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are correct.
   Check to make sure your computer has a working network connection.
   If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I downloaded the recommended update by Firefox for our browser. Apparently, I inadvertently did not carry the passwords over in the application or something. I am so upset with myself because I no longer have any passwords. I chose Firefox many years ago for the convenience of having our many passwords securely and readily available. Now I have nothing! All our financial and medical accounts have passwords and I can no longer get them. PLEASE HELP

Buenas. Llevo utilizando Firefox casi casi desde Windows 95. Y siempre ha ido fino y buen, con velocidad, sin problemas y con una experiencia superior casi siempre, al resto de navegadores. Pero desde las últimas actualizaciones de Firefox, ésto ha cambiado. Tengo la versión 76.0.1(64 bits). Y llevo mucho mucho tiempo con problemas, que me han cansado y he decidido que hasta aquí he llegado. Tengo instalados además, Chrome y Edge. Chrome me parece pesado, porque abre un montón de procesos que no pido, no necesito y me ralentizan el ordenador. Edge no me gusta. Sí que lo veo ágil y Microsoft le ha lavado la cara mucho. Pero no me gusta, y no me da confianza. Al contrario de Firefox. Pero arrastro los siguientes problemas, para que veáis lo impertinente que soy: 1. Imposibilidad de instalar complementos, como puede ser por ejemplo, el de LetyShop. 2. Muchas veces, la página no carga. Se queda en blanco, intentando acceder, pero nada. La mayoría de las ocasiones, refresco y funciona. Pero, no es lo suyo. 3. No tengo bloqueadores. No tengo anti-pops, salvo los que pueda tener por defecto Firefox. Mi antivirus tampoco los bloquea. Pero muchas páginas me dicen que no pueden abrir ventanas. Son páginas de trabajo (IBM, por ejemplo) donde no creo que haya código malicioso. Y sin embargo, algo impide que Firefox las abra. Antes, era puntual. Ahora es cansino. 4. De vez en cuando, pierdo la sesión abierta. Si. Tengo muchas ventanas. Pero me es imposible recuperarlas porque no funciona el histórico bien, no hay posibilidad de recuperarla entera, y es cansino tener que ir una a una abriendo. Y en la ayuda... bueno. Llamarle ayuda es un decir. Tontería diría yo, porque quien pone esas cosas, lo ha hecho en una versión prehistórica (no coincide a veces ni las opciones del menú que se indica...) y desde luego, no ha probado lo que predica.

Es una pena. Voy a dar un voto de confianza, porque la verdad, tanto en pc como en el móvil, siempre he usado Firefox. Pero me canso de tanto problema. Espero que esta situación cambie pronto. Mientras, voy a buscar un sustituto, que seguramente será Chrome.

Unchecked "Use the selected profile without asking at startup" seems to be ignored

I have 3-4 different profiles running, one for work, one for using a proxy, one for developing (which turns off certain security features as I ONLY run my own code on it). I could have sworn that back in the old days when I unchecked the "Use the selected ... without asking ..." button that every time I started firefox by opening a link or clicking the icon for firefox that it would pop up the "Choose User Profile" dialog. Now it just seems to have decided to push it to some arbitrary profile, which for now seems to be my work one. I don't think it's stable and seems to be the first profile that I run when I start starting up firefox profiles. This is a problem if it randomly decides to start in my insecure for dev only profile.

What I did:

  • Created a few profiles
  • Started up multiple profiles at once w/ firefox -P
  • Unchecked the "Use the selected ...." checkbox

What I expected:

  • Bring up profile chooser dialog every time firefox starts

What's actually happening:

  • It's picking a profile to start (not clear how it's choosing) and just starting with no dialog.

I'm running 68.8.0 esr 64-bit. Is this the new expected behavior, am I doing something wrong, or do I need to file a bug?

Hi there! I've fished through here every way I can to find the answer, but no luck. (I've searched the web several times for articles to help, too).

I'm having a problem with emails coming to my Comcast/Xfinity email from zillow.com. I can open the email, but if I click on a link inside for a property for sale, the content gets blocked by Firefox. Additionally, the email then stops me from further navigating to my other emails, repeatedly, even after I delete the email, coming up no matter which other email I select to open. I can only view my other email by closing the email program and restarting my email program again.

I've cleared my Zillow cookies cache as was suggested as a solution by an archived question, but that also did nothing. I've tried to add a rule for that site, I've disabled my add blockers on that site, I'm about out of tricks. Any other ideas? Many thanks!

P.S. I just had an immediate reply with a phone number to call to help with my question. I called, and no answer. I was immediately called back from a completely unrelated phone number by a fellow who said he was both Goggle and Firefox support. This raised my concern level, but after asking about the different phone numbers, if there was a charge, etc., I told him my problem, which was exactly as stated here, so no secret. He wanted to gain remote access to my computer to take a look at the problem, and I declined. I've done that before with support services I have called with no problems (note *I* called them), but this felt questionable. He even offered to call back from the number I had called in the effort to prove he was who he said he was. I declined and hung up. Maybe my B.S. detector is set too high, but no thanks. If Firefox routinely does this it does not engender confidence. He called me again twice while I was typing this. A search reveals a low risk of spam/fraud, but seriously Firefox, this ain't no way to run an airline.
