I am trying to display streaming content from 4 webcams within my local network. This works properly on my Linux Mint box with Firefox 48.0, but does not work on My macbook running OSX El Capitan 10.11.5 on Firefox 50.1.0. Also same problem on my IMac.

The html code is like this...

<object type="application/x-vlc-plugin" data="rtsp://LWK-????:????????@192.168.1.xx:554/img/video.sav" width="500" height="375" id="video1"> <param name="movie" value="rtsp://192.168.1.0/archive/xxxxxxxxxxx"/> <embed type="application/x-vlc-plugin" name="video1" autoplay="no" loop="no" width="500" height="375" target="rtsp://LWK-????:????????@192.168.1.???:554/img/video.sav" />

I downloaded Flip4mac, as was advised on a post I found on stackoveflow, but that made no difference.

How do I know which plugin is needed? Searching on extensions, I see nothing for x-vlc-plugin. Is extension same as plugin? What do I download if not Flip4mac?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Joe

Hi, Since yesterday (August 19, 2016) Netflix stop working and I get a message at the top of the page saying "Firefox is installing components needed to play audio or video, please try again later". I just called Netflix support and they say that recently they stop using Silverlight and moved to HTML5, they advised me to update Firefox to the latest version, I was running on 47.0.1 but now after installing the update I'm running on 48.0.1 but still get the same error message. I can watch Netflix with Internet Explorer but not with Firefox anymore! For years was working fine I am wondering what's going on, can you help?

I am running Firefox on Windows 7. On a number of sites the icon box to the left of the current URL gets an icon that is circular with the cardinal points of a compass like figure. A dialogue box appears emanating from that icon and asks the user if he/she wants to share hs/her location with s0.2mdn.net? I cannot get rid of this and think it is adware.

I even uninstalled firefox and reinstalled it........

I checked firefox server status and all is fine.

All versions of firefox I am running is 48.0

Here is my history log......I would hate to downgrade my computers to windows 7 just because of firefox sync,

There has to be something on the back end for this to be happening.

Im attaching a log of my firefox

Have followed ALL suggestions from the web to remove this hijack with no luck. I then refreshed Firefox (v48.0) and even the default is still hijacked. Newtab always ends up with startgo123.com.

If I restart FF with all add-ons disabled, it's OK, but there are NO extensions or add-ons installed that I don't know about. All were installed by me some time ago.

Please help. I am going crazy trying to solve this.

No malware scans find this, no supposed programs to fix it can find it. Where can it be hiding?

My context/drop-down menus will no longer abort "close" as they used to with a simple off-menu click. The only way I can force them to close now is by hitting the ESC key. For example, if I click on Help in the Menu Bar but decide to abort the action, I used to be able to click anywhere off-menu and it would close. Same thing happens when right-clicking on a webpage to bring up the context or spell-checker menus but then decide not to click on a menu item. In all cases the only way they will close now is to actually select an item in the open menu or by hitting the ESC key.

This issue is exclusive to Firefox. It does not present in IE, Chrome, my OS (Windows 8.1), or any other apps. I first noticed the anomaly sometime after updating to Firefox 48. I have no viruses, hijacks, adware, etc. Restarting with Add-ons disabled had no effect, not could I find relevant info searching support topics here or via general search engine queries.

Anyone have any ideas besides doing a refresh and re-configuring everything?

I'm trying to prevent Firefox from blocking ads on a particularly site. The site is https://forums.techguy.org/. I do not have an ad blocker on and have tested this with a fresh installation of Firefox.

I've troubleshooted the issue and the causes of blocking ads on this website are due to Tracking Protection and Never Remember History. When both of these features are turned on, ads aren't displayed. If I disable either one of these features (doesn't matter which), ads reappear.

The only close solution that I can find is disabling Tracking Protection by selecting the shield icon in the URL bar and disabling tracking for this session. The problem with this solution is just that; it only disables tracking for this session. So every time I close Firefox and reopen it, I have to remember to disable tracking again. I need a permanent solution as I'm human and definitely won't remember to disable this every single time.

I'm curious as to why these ads are even being blocked. On other sites (with an ad blocker), I can still see ads. On this site, without an ad blocker, I still can't see them. Is this site doing something different in the way in which they are displaying ads?

I'm looking for a permanent solution to disable ads on just this site without having to remove the features of Firefox that I'm using. Is there anyway in the settings of Firefox to explicitly add disabling tracking for a site? Similar to how the session based solution works, but this would keep the setting every time Firefox launches. Just spit balling here. I'm not sure how else I might be able to accomplish this.

Hello, we need help with some update issue. Some time ago we've used web extension auto update. Once we uploaded new version to our host, web extension showed popup and suggested to restart browser. Also, when extension lost focus and popup faded, we called "browser.runtime.reload()" - that forced browser to make immediately check update, also as i know, just after restart, browser did check update, so after these two actions user had last extension version. Few days ago we've notices that these actions stopped working. Neither runtime.reload() nor browser restart don't call check update and now we have to wait some time, when browser decide to check it. Was it temporary bug or our mistake and these shouldn't work(check update) at all? Thank you.

This has been going on for awhile, I've made posts about similar issues but I have yet to hear anything. My Firefox is "broken" I guess that would be the perfect term for, At least my Firefox. I experience slowdowns on all webpages, it crashes, it freezes, I get what seems like an unlimited amount of "Unresponsive scripts" which forces me to use task manager to end the Firefox process because waiting for it to debug itself or letting the script load does nothing at all. Even the great check-able "Do not remind me again box" does nothing, I don't even bother checking the box because if there's another unresponsive script, even though its the same error the notification pops up still.

Firefox's memory usage spikes from 500k-900k all the way to 2million, I have exited Firefox and have also tried to use the task manager to end the process when it spikes because Firefox is unusable when it gets that high. Even though when I completely exit out of the Firefox program and use task manager to end the process, If I start Firefox back up the memory usage will climb back to where it was which is usually around the 1.5mil range then from there it goes to as high as 2.3mil then just crashes on me.

This has been going on for awhile now and nothing seems to be worked on.

Re: Firefox update to my Windows 8.1 Laptop

I've been comfortable on my computer and online for over a decade but with the new FIREFOX I am lost nothing works - I might as well be a new user as it is.

Currently I AM TOTALLY SCREWED and TICKED OFF. STUPIDLY I installed the NEW FIREFOX update to my computer and it has made my computer so screwed up it is unusable even if I use Windows Internet Explorer.

I don't know everything its done but for starters I can't read my hotmail email. It doesn't open.

I cannot type anything, my keyboard is nonresponsive.

It says I have an AdBlocker that is interfering with the AP that is part of the NEW FIREFOX so I can't COPY any text.

This is just the tip of the iceberg I'm sure there is more wrong aka screwed-up its just since I can't "intereact" I don't know yet.

GMAIL I CAN READ, it still opens but even it is changed even using Internet Explorer.

I can't type anything into OUTLOOK SITE HELP because my keyboard doesn't work in Hotmail - it works in GMail but still the functions are totally screwed up. LIKE cut and paste - No longer can I copy or cut part of an earlier email, it sees the whole thing / email as one whole thing to be copied or not.

WHAT KIND OF INTERNET BROWSER "UPDATE" takes over everything on a computer. Firefox has changed how everything works. Is this some kind of APRIL FOOLS HOAX IN NOVEMBER or malware?

How do I access the RESTORE TO AN EARLIER DATE function?

Outlook / Hotmail which I can't read - it just puts a checkmark as "accessed" SILLY ME - I like to be able to actually READ my email.

The only way I'm able to do anything online is because thankfully I have my APPLE Desktop.

I DIDN'T GIVE FIREFOX THE RIGHT TO CHANGE EVERYTHING ON MY COMPUTER including other programs - this is OUTRAGEOUS.

As you can see in my screenshot of my desktop. I have a folder of my retrieved firefox bookmarks

I want to get this folder off of the desktop and drag it back into it's proper living space within the indexed folders in my hard drive icon.

What is the file path directions (from folder to folder) I need to into to drag and drop this retrieved folder back to where it should be??

Will doing this make me lose my bookmarks? As I browse with this retrieved folder on my desktop, all my favorite and bookmarks are in place as they should be in firefox.... Will I need to rename this folder or something in order to make sure once it is moved back to it's proper place that is will be talking properly to firefox now in it's new/permanent and proper location?

As has been the case with each new update, I recently updated to Firefox 48.0. Since then, I've noticed the longer I get into a session, the more it starts to freeze. It seems to be using quite a bit more memory than even just the immediate previous version of Firefox. When I have to exit the browser when this becomes unbearable, it usually crashes 30 or so seconds after exiting. I get a plug-in container error. This is now to the point, where it's not even worth it to use the browser.

Anyone else having this problem with the new update? I'm pretty sure I have the system specs to run this, all plug-ins are up to date, all graphic drivers are up-to-date, I've experimented with turning on and off hardware acceleration in the browser to no avail. What problem(s) was/were the update supposed to be fixing?
