Have reinstalled the open source 'Endian Firewall' on another machine, which is accessed using a browser using HTTPS. It does not have valid certificates but I have always been able to add an override however, this time I can not. The workaround provided in the Firefox support area mentioned above does not solve the problem. I urgently need to access the firewall to make some config changes but have reached a dead end. The article says it may be out of date, is there another workaround I can try? Will reinstalling the firewall or reinstalling Firefox reset the old behaviour?

I set it to always start in private browsing on a Mac. For some sessions, I would like to start the browser where the history IS kept on the computer. When I try to go and turn off private browsing in the "Tools" menu, the "Stop Private Browsing" menu is grayed out (i.e. unable to click it).

Basically, I want a reverse to the original function (i.e. I want it to always be in private browsing EXCEPT for certain times instead of the original never in private browsing EXCEPT for certain times).

I keep having problems with my online banking website. Frequently, I have to re-register my computer with them. I have checked with their support and they find nothing wrong at their end. They said it probably had to do with security and/or privacy settings in Firefox. They told me to select "custom setting for history" under privacy in options. I did this and it seems to work until Firefox updates and then it resets to "remember history":under privacy. When this happens I have to re-register my computer on that web site. Since this happens every few days and I have 5 different accounts on this website, it is a pain. This has only been occurring in the past several weeks.

Why is this happening?

I am no doubt asking in the wrong place, but...I have Apache2 running on a linux locally. I believe I have set it up to support server-side includes. I have a cgi-bin perl script, hell.pl:

#!/usr/bin/perl

print "Content-type: text/html\n\n";
print "Hello, world\n";
exit;

Under Firefox, I can generate the Hello World page through the url

xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/cgi-bin/hell.pl

where xxx.xxx... is the apache2 server address.

But if I try to do that via the html file:

<HTML>
<HEAD></HEAD>
Test:<BR>
<BODY>
<!--#include virtual=/cgi-bin/hell.pl" -->
</BODY></HTML>

All I get is page which is blank except for the "Test:" on line 1. The apache error and access logs show no relevant problems, as if the browser treats the serverside include as a comment.

I realize that the fault no doubt lies with the apache2 configuration, but I have studied and studied... and am now clutching at straws.

I have a certificate in the .crt format which needs to be in the "Your Certificates" tab.

Firefox only allows certificates in the .p12 and .pfx formats there.

How do I import this certificate into the "Your certificates" tab?

I tried to see if I can convert .crt into .p12 but no luck. (the same certificate I was able to convert to .p7b and .spc format)

Please help!

P.S. The reason I am doing this is because my hard drive crashed and I have the back up copy of the certificate and now need to install it. Before that the webservice who issued the certificate installed it from within the asked to safe the back up copy, which I did.

Changing from AT&T to Roadrunner, says ........ Proxy Servers - A proxy server lies in between your computer and the Internet. When you request a web page or other Internet content through your computer, you connect to your proxy. The proxy then requests the web page or content you're searching for on your behalf and returns it to you. The proxy's actions are carried out automatically and are invisible to you. A proxy is useful for filtering Internet content, connecting to the Internet through firewalls, and archiving web pages for quicker retrieval by users connected to it.

Road Runner does not support the use of proxy servers, and recommends that you disable proxies through your browser.

HSTS is problematic in that it incorrectly assumes that all users trust the default list of CAs and makes the adding of exceptions impossible even by advanced users.

For example, torproject.org is inaccessible on Firefox unless I am willing to trust DigiCert to never sign a fake certificate either by negligence or by court order of any country in witch they operate, thereby making every https: site ( not just torproject.org ) vulnerable to a MITM attack.

A user disabling CAs in the browser is not unreasonable given the ever growing list of CAs built into Firefox ( each one a potential point of failure ), the number of CAs that have been recently compromised and the very low standards required to obtain a certificate.

While I understand the desire to protect the average user who doesn't understand how certificates work and will click past warnings without reading them, this protection should not come at the expense of more security conscious users.

I would recommend an about:config setting that would allow the creation of exceptions by users who explicitly choose to do so.

So far the only kludge I have been able to come up with is to modify c:\program files\mozilla firefox\xul.dll with a hex editor and replace the sites on the list ( this is far from an ideal solution ).
