I have an Amazon FireTV stick (which runs on Android). I want to be able to set strict Privacy settings. How do I set the following:

Search Engine to DuckDuckGo. Always use private browsing mode. Use tracking protection always. send the Do Not Track signal. block Location sensor. warn when web sites try to install add-ons. opt out of all Firefox Data Collection. block deceptive content and dangerous software. manually install an Add-On.

If the answer is "I can't", then please help me understand the Firefox for Amazon FireTV stick software.

  • Who is the author? Is it Amazon, the Mozilla community, Google, some other group or company?
  • Is the branch of code unique, meaning is there a Firefox codebase exclusively for Amazon FireTV stick?
  • Is there a way to install a full version of Firefox on the Amazon FireTV stick?

Please be transparent. Thanx, Matt

I know that Flash is on its way out, but hypothetically if my Satellite TV provider still used Flash for its (admittedly outdated) web player, would I be able to use Firefox for Fire TV to watch that content?

Trying to figure this out before spending money on a Fire TV stick.

Hi,

To access YouTube on my Amazon Firestick, I have been running it from within the Firefox browser. This was recommended by Amazon after Google blocked the native YouTube app on the Firestick.

However, recently, YouTube has become stuck as the only app I can view on the Firestick.

Is there a way to reset my Firestick? Unplugging it and replugging it has no effect.

Thanks!

Allan

Open Firefox on Amazon FireStick. You have two choices: do a search or open sn app. If you open YouTube, that will be the only thing you can do on or with Firefox. There is no Back function. Once finished on YT, you cannot go back and do a search or open another app. You can exit YouTube by pressing the Home button. From then on, every time you open Firefox, it opens to YouTube. You have to uninstall Firefox and reinstall it to do a search open some other app.

Are there any fees/costs to use Firefox with Amazon Fire Tv? If so, what are the fees/costs? This is something that should be front and center, before instructions to download, but I don't see any info anywhere saying it it's free/included with Amazon, and don't want to download it if there are fees.

I downloaded the Firefox app on my Fire TV but when I go to open YouTube I get an activation code. I have tried to enter the code at youtube.com/activate multiple times but none of the codes work. All that happens after I hit submit is the screen fades out and stays that way. I am already signed in to YouTube on my computer and on my Fire TV app. There is no where to sign into YOuTube on the activation screen for Firefox. Thank you.

I have been using Firefox since it was first released.

Over the years, I have created 100's of passwords, and used various password managers to keep things organized.

Firefox on my Android phone syncs with Firefox on my Windows 10 computer, making it easy to access the web on either device.

Very disappointed that I must have my laptop next to me to look up passwords if I want to use Firefox on my Fire TV :-(

If all I want to do is browse Youtube, I might as well use Chrome and cast to my TV. Ughhh!
