Why does FF reset the homepage to firefox home with the latest update? We deploy our Windows based systems to hundreds of customers and count on FF to bring them to our company homepage to check for updates, documentation, etc. How can I make sure my customers systems always start on my homepage? P.S. We have hundreds of customers so going to each system is not really feasible.

Hi all,

we are using Firefox for more than 5000 users in our corporating. We deliver Firefox via SCCM packages to clients and include a config file for setting a few (fix) settings for all users. We do not use GPO (Group Policies) for Firefox.

Now our issue: we want to have a initial state, so that Ecosia becomes default search engine (changeable). There were a lot of different parameters for about:config (and cfg-File) for setting an initial or fix search engine (such as browser.search.defaultenginename), but all of them are deprecated (due to maleware/adware issues?).

All I find now is the parameter named browser.search.searchEnginesUR, but it only retrieves a central URL with a list of search engines.

So I thought about these possible solutions: - Finding an other parameter to control the default search engine (or Addon, or GPO,...) - or: Creating an own (hosted) search engines list with Ecosia on top level (first entry).

Thank you so much in advance! Best Regards, Yannick Wickum

I need to update the following settings on multiple computers:

- network.negotiate-auth.delegation-uris
- network.negotiate-auth.trusted-uris

Is there a way to do this either via script or GPO?

I've loaded the latest ADMX controls (https://github.com/mozilla/policy-templates/releases), but didn't see these particular settings in the controls.

Thank you,

Paul

Hi I am looking for a way to disable the Firefox Welcome Page on first run, via script, or registry or config file, I have it coming up on over 1000 Windows 10 pc's running Firefox 64 bit 78.02

I have tried many things and nothing I have done seems to suppress the welcome page.

I tried setting all to blank and none have worked

startup.homepage_welcome_url

startup.homepage_welcome_url.additional

startup.homepage_override_url

Also I have tried in the Policies.json file the following. The welcome page still comes up.

{

   "policies": {
       "OverrideFirstRunPage": "",
       "OverridePostUpdatePage": ""
   }

}

Hello,

We have some trouble with Firefox in Windows Roaming Profiles: "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional". The sqlite-shm and sqlite-wal are shown but they are fully inaccessible from CSC (client offline cache). Why does Firefox need to store this temp files in %appdata%? That's really bad design! sqlite-shm and sqlite-wal should be located in %localappdata%.

My solution is to just copy the profile folder, ignoring the inaccessible files. Then I just need to rename it to the original folder name and ff starts just fine. Does anyone know anything more to this problem? Thank you

I am in the process of building a remote desktop server running server 2019. We use a Government portal that requires the Firefox browser for staff to access the portal.

What is the best method to install Firefox in this situation onto a remote desktop server?

  • Do we install in the same fashion apps like MS Office - install under install mode via control panel?
  • Do we install per user?
  • Is there a way to install Firfox into a central location for all users?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Group Policy: How Do I Whitelist Plugins Not Hosted By Mozilla?

Hi there,

I'm attempting to configure group policy in my organisation to only allow the install of selected Firefox plugins present in our whitelist. I am doing this via the ExtensionSettings policy within the Firefox templates v1.14

I have successfully made the default behavior to block plugins, using this string:

   "*": {
   "blocked_install_message": "Extension is not whitelisted. Please contact IT Support",
   "install_sources": ["https://addons.mozilla.org/"],
   "installation_mode": "blocked"
 }

I'm even able to successfully whitelist plugins on the mozilla addon page, example below:

   "support@lastpass.com": {
   "installation_mode": "allowed",
   "install_url": "https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/lastpass-password-manager/"
 }

My problem is I can't seem to whitelist any plugins that are installed from any source other than Mozilla. For example, Dashlane is only available via their website. I tried the following, but it still says blocked.

   "jetpack-extension@dashlane.com": {
   "installation_mode": "allowed",
   "install_url": "https://www.dashlane.com/en/"
 }

I have run into the same issue with another plugin, even when using the full URL of the .xpi file. I've played around with this for a good few hours, but nothing seems to work. Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Guys,

I hope that you can help me. I work for a company with 900+ Windows Clients and several Terminal Server users. At the moment I deployed Firefox ESR 68.4.2 32-Bit. Yes 32-Bit, my mistake. Anyway, I want to update to version ESR 68.5.0. At the same time, I want to jump onto the 64-Bit version. This article mentioned no problem at all; install 64-Bit and afterwards uninstall the 32-Bit version of Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/switch-32-bit-64-bit

I did this step for step but I can't see the bookmarks on the 64-Bit version. If I uninstall and reinstall the 32-Bit Version the bookmarks are back. I need help, please. The users are going to kill me, if I "delete" their bookmarks.

Greetings and thank you in advance!

The ProductCode (ProductID) after Firefox Setup 68.5.0esr.msi is installed does not match to the ProductCode (ProductID) of the Firefox Setup 68.5.0esr.msi. We use SCCM to create the application deployment for Firefox ESR x64 and to install all the endpoints. When creating the deployment, SCCM automatically extracts the ProductCode, and uses the same to detect the presence of the application - if it's not present, it installs. The main issue is that when SCCM checks again the presence after it's installed, the deployment fails because the ProductCode after it's installed is different than what came with the MSI installer. I noticed that this is the case as well for Firefox Setup 68.4.0x esr.msi whereas in the past this was not the case.

See the attached file to see the screenshots.

I have installed an addon by adding a key-value to the registry under the following path similar to Software\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\Install\1 = "https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/somefile.xpi" I want to uninstall the same extension. Hence I am adding another key-value pair under this- Software\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions\Uninstall\1 = "addon_id" I am getting the addon_id by clicking on debug addons, from the list I copy the extension id of my addon. ( I am assuming this is what is meant by addon id). But no matter how many times I try this, on different machines, different addons it's not working. The addon doesn't et uninstalled.

I noticed that since version FF 70+ version the installation fails in a task sequence with error 0x80004005. What especially interesting is, after i deploy a new computer (new windows, settings etc.) i come to this multiple installation step, and only FF fails. After I cancel the task sequence, I go into windows and Firefox is happily waiting me on the desktop!

I think it is got to do with the detection method because the detection method is set to look for .msi product code and when i run a powershell command "Get-WmiObject Win32_Product | sort name | Format-Table IdentifyingNumber, Name, LocalPackage -AutoSize" on a freshly deployed PC I get all of the .msi codes but Firefoxe's. Can somebody from the dev team check this?

Thank you
