Hi I am looking for a way to disable the Firefox Welcome Page on first run, via script, or registry or config file, I have it coming up on over 1000 Windows 10 pc's running Firefox 64 bit 78.02

I have tried many things and nothing I have done seems to suppress the welcome page.

I tried setting all to blank and none have worked

startup.homepage_welcome_url

startup.homepage_welcome_url.additional

startup.homepage_override_url

Also I have tried in the Policies.json file the following. The welcome page still comes up.

{

   "policies": {
       "OverrideFirstRunPage": "",
       "OverridePostUpdatePage": ""
   }

}

Greetings

I'm trying to deploy firefox in spanish using policies.json and this is the code im using:

{

 "policies": {
   "Extensions": {
     "Install": ["/usr/lib64/firefox/distribution/extensions/langpack-es-MX@firefox.mozilla.org.xpi"],
     "Uninstall": [],
     "Locked":  []
   }
 }

}

Whenever i launch firefox, the langpack is not installed, the "about:policies" page display the following error:

Download failed - ERROR_NETWORK_FAILURE - file:///usr/lib64/firefox/distribution/extensions/langpack-es-MX@firefox.mozilla.org.xpi

We always put the folder of the language pack in /firefox/browser/extensions/ but after upgrading to firefox 76 is not working, i can install manually the langpack but that's not an option. Is there is something wrong with my code?

Sorry for my broken english.

Hi,

I'm trying to install an addon for my users at my company. I have about 4500 machines that need to have this extension installed and I can't find what I need in order to install the extension globally through the registry. Mozilla just came out with Firefox 75 and now I can't add an addon to the browser without having to remote into the computer and move the extension into the browser to install the addon, I would like to avoid to minimize impact to my company's resources.

I've tried this site below. Tried to put an entry into the registry and it's not working. https://extensionworkshop.com/documentation/enterprise/enterprise-distribution/#installation-using-windows-registry

Tried this site to try and find the GUID folder and can't find it in the Roaming folder https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-remove-add-on-extension-or-theme

Tried this site but still can't find the GUID folder in roaming https://extensionworkshop.com/documentation/publish/distribute-sideloading/

Could I get steps on how to install an addon into the registry for Firefox 75?

Hey,

I have firefox ESR ver 68 installed. Would like to have all the configurations done via Prefs.js implemented via group policy. I have explored the Firefox policy details via about:policies but could not identify which of the policies are equivalent of the following pref.js settings

  • extensions.ShowSelectionUI
  • extension.ui.lastcategory
  • extension.ui.locale.hidden
  • network.cokies.prefsMigrated
  • network.automatic-ntml-auth.trusted.uris

Group Policy: How Do I Whitelist Plugins Not Hosted By Mozilla?

Hi there,

I'm attempting to configure group policy in my organisation to only allow the install of selected Firefox plugins present in our whitelist. I am doing this via the ExtensionSettings policy within the Firefox templates v1.14

I have successfully made the default behavior to block plugins, using this string:

   "*": {
   "blocked_install_message": "Extension is not whitelisted. Please contact IT Support",
   "install_sources": ["https://addons.mozilla.org/"],
   "installation_mode": "blocked"
 }

I'm even able to successfully whitelist plugins on the mozilla addon page, example below:

   "support@lastpass.com": {
   "installation_mode": "allowed",
   "install_url": "https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/lastpass-password-manager/"
 }

My problem is I can't seem to whitelist any plugins that are installed from any source other than Mozilla. For example, Dashlane is only available via their website. I tried the following, but it still says blocked.

   "jetpack-extension@dashlane.com": {
   "installation_mode": "allowed",
   "install_url": "https://www.dashlane.com/en/"
 }

I have run into the same issue with another plugin, even when using the full URL of the .xpi file. I've played around with this for a good few hours, but nothing seems to work. Any advice?

Thanks in advance.

Which suggests using autoconfig.js and firefox.cfg although no matter what paths I try, after launch about:config doesn't reflect the changes in firefox.cfg.

Path to autoconfig.js:

Path to firefox.cfg:

From what I see one can manage a) installing, b) uninstalling and c) banning add-ons/extensions.

What I'd like to do is allow a user to install only authorised (whitelist) apps (publicly available) adn/or deny installation (blacklist) to specific apps.

There are tools for IE and Chrome built-in and third party (i.e.MangeEngine Browser Security Plus). is there something similar for Firefox?

I would like to know whether definitions in prefs.js supercedes those in autoconfig.cfg and autoconfig.js. Currently we have one Firefox profile and definitions of proxy is in autoconfig.cfg. Now we are planning to deploy new Firefox profile that contains new proxy definitions. Customer requirement is to avoid modifying existing autoconfig definitions. I plan to copy existing firefox profile to the new profile, perform about:config to reflect new proxy definition and create new firefox shortcut to use new profile. Can I satisfy the customer requirement?

I'd like to deploy Firefox ESR 60.6.1 in my company (4000 computers) with PowerShell / SCMM package, but i'm having trouble to set a default software for .ica (citrix) extension . I'd like to auto check automaticaly the box (Remember my choice for "xxx", please see the screenshot, sorry for french btw) in order to make it easier for the users.

I know this parameter is written in handlers.json, but I was wondering if it can be set in the mozilla.cfg.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hello!

We are using Firefox ESR 60.x.x.x and GPO for our company. If I deploy a new extension via GPO it is automatically enabled. So, if it is only for a small group of people, thousands of others have to disable it manually or ask questions about it.

Is there way to deploy a new extension via GPO disabled?

Thanks!
