In C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles there is one profile (qanl58lx.default) and my extensions is in the profile folder, but in Firefox options/extensions there are none. This has been going on for some time, but suddently 2 days ago a window for every extension showed up and asked for updating, which was done, and now extensions were shown inOptions/extensoins. But today they are all gone again. I have scanned for malware and there are none.
Whats wrong?

The box to update Firefox "A new Firefox update is available...Download update" is stuck on my main Firefox browser window in the top left corner.. I cannot click on it or close it and it appears on all of my tabs. I could just close the browser but frankly I've got a lot of tabs open and my Firefox settings mean that if I closed the window and reopened them all in a bookmark folder, I'd have to log in to all my sites again. Also I don't know if the same thing wouldn't just happen again.
I don't know if this is Firefox's way of forcing you into submission to update the browser but it is quite frustrating, I shouldn't have to go through such a massive effort just to get rid of an update box that obscures my view. I also don't want to get rid of the box appearing altogether as I like to know when there is an update so I can choose to download it or not.
Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Hello, I am writing as I am experiencing some issues with my favorite web browser after updating to Windows 8.1. Here are some details. I updated from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1 and ever since Firefox has run somewhat strangely. In particular when on sites with a lot of images like Facebook. It is like there is some kind of Flikr effect between the desktop and the images and between the images and the browser (almost like old 16 bit video games flikering). It is not too bad but it is an issue. I have tried resetting firefox and restarting the computer. I haven't tried a repair, and I haven't done an uninstall yet.

The first is bad enough: if it's 'Intel', how can it be 'unknown'?
... but the second is worse: how can one 'research' an 'unknown' something where there is no text description about it?

Why am I getting a crash report whenever I close down Firefox while gmail is open?
This happens only when gmail is open when I shut down Firefox. Not a huge problem, I can ignore it, but I am concerned there may be larger issues behind this.

I have 3 users on my laptop. Admin, user and kids account. Mozilla worksl flawlessly on all the accounts except the kids. I try to access yahoo.com or google.com and the page will not load. The family settings on the kids account is set to allow all web sites.
I get this error An error occurred during a connection to www.google.com. SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length. (Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)

I don't know what that is or why Firefox is doing that. How do I stop it so that it will reveal Firefox as my browser and let me access this website. I've upgraded to Win 8.1, Firefox v26, Shockwave, Flash, and the newest Java JRE's. YouTube videos result in an error message and to try again later. The interesting feature is that IE v11 will show the videos with no error. The Win 8.1 upgrade took away my sound, and I've read the other problems that seem to be related to YouTube and sound. But, IE plays the videos with no sound, so that's not sound related.

I have the latest Firefox on a brand new laptop and the audio in almost all video streaming is bad. I have always used IE but Firefox was on this laptop so i thought i'd give it a go as i'd heard good things. I'll be honest i'm not impressed. The sound problem ranges from a mild intermitent crackling every twenty seconds or so,to terrible pops and crackles like a badly scratched record. Youtube is the worst but almost all other platforms are effected. I have put up with it for a week or so but it is really annoying now and needs sorting. Reading around the forums i have tried various things but to no avail. Nothing helps.
Windows 8.1,64 bit system. CPU averages about 9-14 when streaming.
Here's what i have tried.
The on/off of hardware acceleration. Clearing of history/cache. Reinstalled latest Adobe Flash. Clearing of Flash Site Data and Settings. Disabling HTML5 via about:config media.ogg etc Refreshing/tune up of Firefox. Messed about with speaker settings checking and unchecking various things,altering sound to different qualities.
As a last resort i am considering a reinstall of Firefox but unsure as i don't want to lose all my bookmarks.
I haven't looked into or am even sure the problem could be the 32 bit Flash and Firefox on a 64 bit machine. I dunno,this all seems a bit much just to watch a video. Can anyone help or is it back to IE?

From couple of weeks I am noticing that option for more apps (the grid icon on google main page) is not working in firefox but it works with internet explorer. This option works very well at my office in the same firefox version. I have also same addons installed at office and home (Add blocker plus, no script, download them all, video download helper). I tried updating firefox on latest version and also create new firefox profile but it does not solve this issue. i want to identify and solve this problem because this also affects for getting option to logout from gmail (that is also not working in my home using firefox). I am attaching the image for the option I am asking about. I will appreciate if anyone can help.

Previous versions of Firefox supported horizontal scrolling when used with a scrollwheel mouse that supported tilt. However, I've been unable to get it to work on Firefox 57.0.1. I read somewhere that FF decided to no longer support this feature, but not sure if this is true. Meanwhile, on Chrome and EE, I can scroll left/right and zoom, using the scroll wheel on my Logitech LX5 Cordless Optical mouse.
It is truly a sad day when something works as it should in EE and Chrome, but not in Firefox. Please help, or I may have to pledge my allegiance elsewhere.

when open youtube get a persons channel (The Moon) that flashes and can't click or get out of it. Only happens in Firefox when remember history is on.
Am I hacked? When I turn off remember history youtube behaves normally in firefox browser. No problems in Chrome. I'm not subscribed to this guy.

All commands for restoring previous sessions are disabled (whether or not they are from an extension), and even when the browser gets restarted (for example when an extension is installed or updated) all the sessions get lost: I click Restart in the extensions tab with 10 different tabs opened, and the restarted Firefox window contains NOTHING but the default startup page (on which, by the way, the search box doesn't work at all).
Before someone asks, I've already tried all the standard suggestions:
1) Tried with a new empty profile with NO extension at all 2) Tried deleting ALL profile info, uninstalling FF, then reinstalling and using the default empty profile with NO extensions whatsoever
And the problem is still there: session storage does not function (sessionstore.js doesn't get created).
The only thing that solved the problem was reverting back to FF 28, which I have done.
(By the way, this bug led me to discover another thing which I consider a total ergonomic failure: in FF28 the "check for updates" button in the about dialog MUST be called in another way: this button DOES NOT check for updates, it INSTALLS updates! In fact, if clicked, it does not check and tell me if a new version is available: if the new version is available, having clicked "check" is interpreted as "Download and immediately install the update", and NOTHING can be done to stop this when clicked; even closing FF results in the updated version being installed as soon as downloaded, and the only way to get back to the previous version is to download the specific installed from mozilla and reinstall it! This is NOT a version check, this is a forced update a la M$!)

I did not want to hack you or stop helping you. I just can't get rid of this virus so I switched to the regular browser. Also, you are being hacked by a group that I was/am a part of. They use the hack to get full Root PEM certificates from your browser to use it as a make shift Tor browser. I do not condone that. Although, I know why. If you can have Tor without downloading it, which instantly puts you on a list, why wouldn't you do so. They are non-profit and do not do things without good reason. There you go.

I used the site every day in the last 2 months and all worked flawlessly until the last update. Now when I go to another tab and then return to the S&F one (https://w18.sfgame.net/), the whole screen becomes non-interactive - I cannot press buttons on it or do anything and only page refresh works. Also happens when I right click and open java settings. I am using the latest version (55.0.3) but am experiencing the issue since 55.0.2. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as Firefox is my fav. browser and I wouldn't like having to revert to Chrome again just because of this - it's really ruining my experience :(
