Firefox - Add Colored tabs

I had Firefox version 81 and after installing version 82 in a new install on a new hard drive, I cannot change the color of my tabs anymore. I should see white tabs for the current tab but no longer when I added my userChrome.css file. I see instead a thin blue color strip along the top of the tab and the rest is grey. This shows up without any userChrome.css file.

In Firefox address field type: about:support It shows my Profile. vwy0y5ix.default-release I also have under the Profile folder this: jcueuz5y.default

I put the userChrome.css file here in my Chrome folder: C:\Users\David\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\vwy0y5ix.default-release

What it contains: /* USE THIS ONE. It works in version 65 https://github.com/Aris-t2/CustomCSSforFx/releases/tag/2.3.4

Hi all -

Just upgraded to TB 78 on Windows 10 x64, Build 2004. Noticed two major things:

Issue 1 -

All of the mail folder icons are no longer yellow. Just a stark white with a black edge. I attached an Image of the issue for review.

Issue 2 -

My Message Composition Pane is dark with white letters and most incoming text mail is the same.

I do have some dark colors set up under PC Settings -> Personalization but everything was working perfectly prior to this new release.

I attached Images of the issue for review. Note the "dark haze" over the HTML email.

No add-ons are enabled!

Any help appreciated! Kind of urgent to me.

TIA :)

Hello all,

I run a bunch of web applets locally on my computer for personal use only (http://localhost/...), and until recently I could successfully launch FF using window.open(...) with the new window NOT showing the address bar (because it takes space and looks ugly within the applet, so I want to avoid it at all cost).

I believe this changed with FF 76 (I now run v. 76.0.1 64-bit on a Windows10 based computer), anyway at this point it seems impossible to NOT have the address bar show up in a FF window. :-/

To be clear : I have searched for a solution in this forum and elsewhere, found the solution to another new problem with FF ("megabar"), also seen the trick to hide the url in the address bar - but this is not what I'm looking for : I just want to *get rid of the address bar*, period.

Thanxx in advance for any help with this issue (surprised noone else seems to complain about this). :)

I just upgraded to 78.3.2, and the message list panel now has significantly more spacing, less denstiy. There is more whitespace between lines. And there does not appear to be any option to reset this back to the previous compact view?

EDIT: Adding a note about an additional issue with the message list panel that is discussed in this thread... Prior to v78.3.2, a message/line in the message list pane would not become highlighted until I *clicked* on it. Now, whenever I just pass my mouse over the list, the message under the mouse becomes highlighted (and the last message(s) *selected* also remains highlighted). This results in two or more non-adjacent messages being highlighted in the same way at the same time. This is a poor usability experience and dangerous design that has caused me to perform operations on unintended messages multiple times, even nearly accidentally deleting messages. This usability degradation creates a risk of data loss.

KEYWORDS: message thread pane, message list panel, UX, UI design, usability, accessibility

Hi,

Today I installed the new Firefox 74 but now my multirow bookmarks toolbar is not working correct anymore. They are not side by side, they are now among one another. See attached screen, ca. 75% of the screen is used by the bookmarks.

The following code is contained in my userChrome.css file:

/* Multi-Row Bookmarks Toolbar Firefox 66+ */

#PersonalToolbar {
  min-height: unset !important;
  max-height: unset !important;
/* text-align: center !important; */
}

#PersonalToolbar #PlacesToolbarItems {
  overflow-x: visible !important;
  overflow-y: visible !important;
  display: inline-block !important;
}

#PlacesToolbarItems > .bookmark-item > .toolbarbutton-icon[label]:not([label=""]) {
  /* Reduce padding on individual bookmarks to fit rows closer together */
  margin-inline-end: 0px !important;
}

Does anybody have a solution for this?

PS: If you need more info, please ask...

Best regards heusmich

I'm using Windows 10 on one computer and Windows 7 on another need a solution which will work for both.

When I upgraded to Firefox 72, I think it was, I had a problem with the tabs which I wanted to show below the address bar. Someone from this forum helped by guiding me to a userChrome change and a userContent.css file. That worked fine and the tabs were below the address bar.

The next time I upgraded Firefox to 75 I think it was, the address bar wasn't working the way it used to. I wanted to be able to have the whole address bar selected when I clicked on it so I could type over what was there and enter a new address. Again, someone on this forum very kindly helped me by showing me how to change the settings on browser.urlbar.OpenViewOnFocus and 3 others and the problem was solved.

Now I come to Firefox 77 and the tabs are showing above the address bar again AND the address bar is no longer working as I wanted it to.

The OpenViewOnFocus settings are the way they I was advised to change them, but the tabs are still above the address bar. Someone acknowledged that changing the OpenViewOnFocus will no longer correct the tab locations and suggested a userChrome.css change. But I've already got one program in the userChrome.css file that I used the fix the address bar program.

Can I have two different programs in the userChrome.css field?

If so, can anyone help with the userChrome.css program that would take care of both problems? and do I still need the userContent.css file?

Why does Firefox keep doing this?

I want to do not see this small button on each tab in Firefox. Is it possible without addons? I remember that in the past there was an option in about:config for that purpose but I failed to find it now and do not remember how it is called. I don't need this close-button because I managed to close my tabs using various other ways: by Escape, by double left mouse click to a tab, by double right click on web page (everything using AutoHotkey).

M computer (still running W7) auto-updated FF to version 73.0.1 and two things happened. First, the tabs now cover the navigation bar, and second, the "plus" sign to the right of the tabs disappeared so I can't go to my pinned tabs or add a new tab.

Any help will be appreciated. I do have a userChrome file, but it was a copy and paste and I don't know how to adjust it to correct these things. Or if there's something in about:config? I just don't know what I would try to change.

I've been trying to take a screenshot, but can only grab the webpage and not the "frame" so I can't demonstrate what I'm talking about, but basically the tabs are sitting right on top of the navigation toolbar, obscuring it.

Thank you all for your help.

Hi,

I prefer Firefox to show bookmarks toolbar in fullscreen mode. In the previous version of Firefox, this can be done by creating a CSS. Refer to the link below: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1212156

However, after updating to Firefox 75.0, the CSS method doesn't work anymore. Google searches also returned no result considering the update is recent. That's why I'm writing it here.

Refer to the attachment below as bookmarks toolbar is hidden when hovering to toolbar.

Thank You.

With the latest update, the CSS tweak to disable the creation of new tab when middle clicking the empty tab bar area no longer works.

Is there another workaround for disabling this function or where the documentation for the tab bar CSS is?

I honestly don't get why Mozilla have to break the tweaks every few updates. This along with the non standard shortcut key combos such as creating a private window using [Win + Shift + P] instead of [Win + Shift + N] doesn't make much sense.
