Hi. I've been a loyal user to Mozilla Firefox for many years now. My concern is whenever I updated the browser from the past, It deletes my settings and extensions. That's whats keeping me from updating it for quite sometime now. So Im simply afraid to do it. For example. Part of my research entails an extension that downloads and converts from a video site. After an update this is removed. I have to re-install everytime. I so got tired of this. Its so annoying everytime it asks for updating, I have to opt out. Is there some way I can update this without messing up my settings? Has Mozilla already worked out a version without messing with my settings? Thank you for the help.

I have mozilla set to notify me when an update is ready but I just watched it update with no input from me.

example: [no input] Double click on the Firefox icon on the desktop and it says wait while we install the latest update. Then the little updater box with the progress bar opens showing update in progress. I DID NOT OK AN UPDATE!

How can I rely on software that does not follow settings? I am using Win 10 and the most current {NOW) firefox thanks to it updating without my permission. This is also why I now use Chrome as my default browser.

I am running on a linux machine, with firefox installed in /opt (ie, not writable by the common user). How do I disable the constant 'do you want to upgrade' question that shows up (seemingly) every time I turn my head? I CANT upgrade it, I dont have permissions. It is almost (and getting closer all the time) enough to cause me to go back to chrome.

I have spent some time reading the forums and this seems to be a problem many people have. Unfortunately I have not read a post where an actual solution was offered. I get no sound in Firefox version 57 or 58. Version 56 would work except for I am forced to uninstall the latest version every couple days and reinstall Firefox at version 56. Every time I do this, I disable automatic updates. Firefox still automatically updates. WTF man. I see on these forums that many people need a previous version of Firefox for whatever reason and we all get the updates that break our specific machine's compatability forced on us EVEN THO WE HAVE SELECTED TO DISABLE THE AUTOMATIC UPDATES!!! Is there a way to check disable automatic updates and have it actually disable updating automatically? Or should I look for another browser?

My wife's account on her Windows 7 PC is a non-administrator account. When Firefox detects an update, it consistently misbehaves. It appears to consume an excessive amount of resources and the machine is almost unusable. I have to login to my administrator-level account and update Firefox. This usually resolves the issue until the next update, but today it's not. I can only seem to launch Firefox as an administrator.

Can you please fix Firefox so that it doesn't even try to update itself from a non-administrator account?

I never run into this problem when logged on as an administrator. It makes me wonder how this works on Unix/Linux when not running as root.

I am using ManageEngine Desktop Central to deliver updates to our network and the installer for the 55.0.3 package wouldn't download because of a gateway issue. So I followed the link in the software to see where it was pointing and it told me to navigate to http://download-installer.cdn.mozilla.net. I did that then I made my way down to the 55.0.3 EN-US release and tried to download the patch manually at which point my SonicWALL gateway interrupted the download and gave me this error:

Gateway Anti-Virus Alert This request is blocked by the Firewall Gateway Anti-Virus Service. Name: (Cloud Id: 58202059) Upx-46 (Trojan)

The direct link to what I tried to access is:

http://download-installer.cdn.mozilla.net./pub/firefox/releases/55.0.3/win64/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%2055.0.3.exe

If this is truly infected can you please rectify that? Otherwise, if I am doing something wrong on my end can you please let me know?

Thank you, Garret Ullal

Is there a way that school administrators can set Firefox to automatically update, without having to provide admin credentials each time? This would make it significantly easier for them, and would encourage them to install FF by default, which they often don't do.

If this isn't currently a feature, are there efforts to get there already? Or a feature request I can watch? Otherwise, where could I go to request it myself?
