When using the "Restore Previous session" Firefox keeps refusing to load one of the tabs I had open last at random. Then when I copy the internet address and close the tab then use the Paste and go in my address bar, it promptly crashes that tab as well. As you can understand this is extremely annoying, so what's going on here?

I'm posting this from my XP machine since I don't want to do anything more on my Windows 7 laptop (where the issue exists) that might cause me untold grief. I had seen the message to "Restart Firefox to Update" for several days but was busy doing 'stuff' so I held off. Was also getting messages that Adobe Acrobat Reader had been updated successfully and that I should restart for the update to take effect. Finally, since I wanted to replace my AVG Free AV with ZoneAlarm Internet Security, I decided it was time to close all my active programs, including Firefox, remove AVG Free AV, download and install ZoneAlarm Internet Security and then shut down my laptop in order to install any Windows 7 updates. In order to shut down Firefox while maintaining all my Windows and Tabs, I typically just pull-down the Menu and select 'Exit'. When I open Firefox again, I select 'Restore previous session", my Windows all come up and my tabs are all there and I'm off to the races! However, when I tried that this time, I received a warning that I had 8 Windows open and 441??? tabs (I have a lot but it is nowhere near that number [150 maybe]) in use and they would all be closed if I chose to exit. Since this is my way of remembering all of the things that I am working on at any given time, I DEFINITELY DIDN'T WANT TO DO THAT!! So, the only choice I had seemed to be to click on the "Restart Firefox to Update" button in the "Help" --> "About Firefox" dialog box. However, I did that about 6 hours ago and the little blue 'circle' just keeps 'spinning' and the hard drive access light flashes periodically (more so, within the first 30 minutes or so after clicking on the 'Restart' button) but the 'Restart' has not completed. I guess I will have to abort the update somehow but I don't want to do that part way through a 'Restart' and I DEFINITELY DON'T WANT TO LOSE MY OPEN TABS!!! What should I do to be able to get back to productive work using Firefox?!

Under privacy and security - forms and passwords - I have checked "Ask to save logins and passwords" - Many times - when visiting a new site - the dropdown that asks if I want to save - does not appear - and/or - the login is there - but the password is not saved. "Password Editor" in add-ons is not compatible with my version of Firefox - Without going crazy - there should be a way - under this setting - "privacy and security" - to Manually add a web-site with login/password. And if not - why not?

This refers to Firefox 62.0 running under Windows 10 Pro.

In older versions of Firefox, one could effectively purge browsing history, either with a manual 'Clear History' command or by using a third-party utility like Ccleaner. Such a purge would clear any history of Websites visited, such that when you began typing-in a URL in the Address Bar, you'd have to type in the whole name; that is, Firefox would not auto-fill-in the rest of the site name after a few telling keystrokes. Of course some, if not all, search engines can be programmed to suggest sites, but in this case we're not talking about that, only what Firefox does all by itself.

Effective with some fairly recent update, it appears that Firefox will remember sites you've visited, regardless of whether you want it to or not. I can clear all history manually through Tools/Options/Privacy & Security/History: Clear History, plus run Ccleaner with all Firefox options checked. Then, even with the Internet temporarily disconnected, as soon as I type 'e' into the Address Bar, Firefox fills-in eBay.com. Same goes for 'a' and Amazon.com, 'g' and Google.com, and all manner of sites I've visited, even if they are not one of the 'usual suspects.' In fact, if I type in a couple of letters, up comes a site I believe I've visited only once.

From a security and privacy standpoint, this is disconcerting. Not that I have anything sinister to hide, but I tried the same thing with Internet Explorer and it does not do this. Evidently all these site visits are stored somewhere on my machine and cannot easily be purged. If I knew what specific file held this information, I could direct Ccleaner there to wipe it, or simply delete that file manually.

I thought this might have something to do with Bookmarks, that Firefox would look among bookmarked site names and suggest those, but I tested that possibility and it's not that. I can begin typing-in the site name of a bookmarked URL and the auto-fill does not function. But other sites I've visited, that are not bookmarked, will populate with a suggestion or two. Please, what can I do?

For some reason it updated without asking/notifying me about it. Then after it restarted it reset EVERYTHING. I don't see the Apps anymore, the shortcuts on toolbar are gone/back to defult items & I can't restore any of the past backedup sessions from the past week! I had at least 150+ tabs in 4 windows. And I already tried the "History> Closed tabs"restore thing. It only restores the LAST session, since I've been trying to fix/figure this out for at least 12 hours & nothing has restored the tabs from about 13 hours ago. Note: My Bookmarks & History (I've previously set to saved before the sessions I've had to restart during) are fine, it's only the many tabs that I can't restore is my sudden problem.

Yesterday I upgraded to the newest version of Firefox (66.0, 64-bit). I use Avast Antivirus for virus protection, and I noticed after I upgraded to the new version of Firefox and went to go online, the Avast Online Security Browser Extension showed that the automatic blocking of trackers was disabled, so I clicked More Settings and re-checked the things that were previously unchecked (the do not track boxes), afterwhich I clicked Save, and everything was A-OK.

After I was finished, I closed the page I was on.

When I went back in awhile later, the same thing occurred, and I had to do the same thing all over again.

I'm not sure what to do so I don't have to keep repeating the same process over & over again. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I'm unsure whether this is Firefox-related or Avast-related. I did post over at Avast's forums, too.

Thanks in advance.

Each time Firefox is updated I keep getting Firefox Not Responding, and this happens EACH time there is an update. Refresh does not help. New tabs open up very slowly AFTER getting Not Responding. Changed performance settings with no change. I do not have any add-on. This is truly very disruptive. If I could figure out how to import all of my saved web pages I would stop using Firefox and use Edge. As of today I HAVE NOT received any answers on how to correct this problem from Mozilla

Drag and drop will not work in Firefox but works in all other browsers I have installed. Tried in safe mode but it still won't work. This is getting ridiculous now as there are so many things that you can't now do in Firefox that it's becoming useless ... you HAVE to give users some room to set their own restrictions otherwise the paranoia will turn the browser into a worthless piece of junk

Greetings,

I've tried all avenues that normally resolves the issue of unsaved passwords, including cleaning out caches, running in safe mode etc. In fact, I tried two different MacOSX machines, one running running 10.13.8, the other 10.14.1. Nothing works, Firefox does not offer to save credentials. I thought there might be some new HTML trick to disable login saving I'm not aware of but Safari had no problem saving the password. Any suggestions are appreciated.
