I can't figure out how to get a threaded view for a conversation in Thunderbird, so that it behaves the same as a threaded view for a conversation in Outlook:
Email topic is the subject line of the message that started the thread
- Most recent reply at the top
- Additional replies sorted newest from top to oldest at the bottom
- Original message that started the thread at the bottom
So for instance:
1) I receive a message from someone with topic "Lunch Options" and content of the message "Where should we go?"
2) I send a reply with the content: "If you pay..somewhere expensive."
3) I get reply that says: "McDonalds it is then."
When viewing that thread in Thunderbird, I would like that to display like this in the left pane:
Names of people in thread
Topic: Lunch Options
When you click on the 'combo of the two lines (names and topic)', the right pane should show the list of messages contained in the thread sorted newest to oldest, with the top one (latest message) expanded. You should then be able to subsequently expand each individual message of the thread in the right pane. However, in the left pane the conversation is still 'collapsed' (with the arrow point right >).
When you click the little arrow in the left pane from > to V to expand the thread, the left pane should show:
Names of people in thread
Topic: Lunch Options
- Name of most person with most recent reply plus time stamp
- Etc.
- Name of thread starter with timestamp
Clicking on any of the sender names should expand THAT message in the right pane. Is this possible?
Thank you for making it to the bottom of this lengthy post....
