Hello,

I have not been able to get my Firefox iOS app and desktop to sync. On both my desktop and phone logins are selected for syncing but each device has its own list of logins which they wont share with each other. I can sync tabs and send tabs from desktop to my phone and the same the other way around. The only thing that doesn't seem to sync is passwords/ logins.

I have uninstalled the app on my phone I have logged out and back in I have cleared connected devices on my account and relogged in

None of the above have worked in getting my device to sync.

When I do a fresh install I only get back the logins that I've manually entered onto my phone. It seems to have it's own list separate form the desktop and neither device is sharing login sync.

Any help would be appreciated, I have 300+ logins on my desktop version and have only manually moved over a small handful to my phone because manually doing so is a pain and they won't sync if I update one on the phone or computer to the other device.

I'm on iOS 109 and desktop version is 109.0 (64-bit). I have been trying for weeks on and off to resolve this issue.

Dear all,

I am planning a move towards the Firefox ESR 78.6.x. Currently my customer is using the Firefox Rapid Release 84.x and need your help with the profile migration. The customer has a very isolated on-premises environment and does not allow the users to login into a Firefox-Account. Therefore the settings for Cookies, Cache, History and especially Bookmarks are not synched.

Environment details:

  • Enterprise environment with several tausends of clients
  • All clients on Windows 10 Enterprise between 1809 and 20H2
  • All clients have always the newest Firefox installed currently 84.x

This creates a huge challenge to sync this stuff. Therefore I have now identified the following two options:

  1. 1 Allow the downgrade by using the environment variable MOZ_ALLOW_DOWNGRADE on Windows. For this option I am trying to find the real reason why this "Downgrade-Stop" has been implemented in the first place? What risks in detail do I take to allow this downgrade? Has anybody done this before and do you mind to share your experience here? How many issues did you face and how did you remediate the issues?
  1. 2 Hand over the migration to the users. Copy their current profile to their desktop and ask them to import their bookmarks manually. Not preferred by users and I can't even blame them for.

Is there any other way to automatically sync the profiles from 84.x to ESR 78.6.x without user interaction?

Thanks in advance Amir

Firefox for Mobile needs to sync Collections too.

My wife typically trusts me to make the tech decisions in my household, and is fine with using and supporting Mozilla and Firefox. Overall, she likes the new Mobile Firefox too, as do I.

She's a typical Tab Hoarder kind of user. On her last phone, I introduced her to Collections. Much easier to use and get to than Bookmarks, easy to understand, good at helping her control the immense amount of tabs she otherwise has open. She basically fell in love with the feature.

A few days ago she got a new phone. We still have her old one, but the screen is 1/3 cracks and it no longer holds a charge well. "Well loved", for sure.

Install Firefox on new phone --> sync over her stuff --> all good... Well, wait... Where are her collections with her hundred-or-more tabs in them for various stuff?

Turns out they don't sync?

I've been helping her manually move over the tabs from the collections on her old phone to the new phone, but I feel *extremely* lucky we still have the phone. If she'd lost her phone instead, that would be quite the amount of time she'd spent getting acquainted with and using this feature just to find it doesn't save anywhere.

This was all essentially written as a real-life use-case, for the following plea:

Please, *please* add Collections to what is able to be synced with the Firefox Sync feature.

I have accidentally reset my firefox account password and lost all my data because of it. Is there a way to revert it to some backup, please?

Are the passwords still saved locally on my other devices? I am not home right now and can't check. If so and all i have to do is sync from them then all is well.

Why can't I find a support mail address anywhere?

I need to sync to this device the bookmarks, extensions, saved logins, etc... Currently I do not have my other PC to export this stuff, please help.

Creating separate Firefox profiles on different user accounts

Hello,

I am wondering it this is possible - I have a Windows 10 laptop that needs to be upgraded to V202H and I am told that the upgrade will probably delete all of my current programs and settings - including my Firefox install and all bookmarks. To help recover from that, I wanted to know if it would be possible to set up an alternate Firefox in a not often used local account on my Windows 7 laptop and then sync the two so that after the upgrade, I can download Firefox again onto the Win 10 laptop and then sync it back so that I can get all of my bookmarks and settings for FF back onto the Win 10 laptop.

I don't want to sync it with the Firefox that I use in my regular Win 7 user account since that has a separate set of bookmarks and settings that I wouldn't want to change. I just wanted a way to "hold" all of the Win 10 Firefox stuff and "reinstall" it, and had thought that sync might be a way to do that.

If that won't work, is there a way to transfer the entire FF profile over to a new install on that laptop once it is upgraded?

Thanks for any help! Much appreciated!

Until about a week ago sync worked fine to my knowledge and I could look at saved logins on my Note 8 which were sync'd with my W10 desktop. Now FF sync on Note 8 will NOT update and show me saved logins and passwords, pressing the button does NOTHING. It doesn't even open a new page, absolutely nothing. My bookmarks will sync with desktop but NOT passwords/logins.

It is weird because when I go to a website and login, my Note8 does show suggested logins like it always has but in FF you cannot look at saved logins any longer?

Also noticed that under Note 8 accounts and backup, FF is NOT even listed as an account and I thought it used to be listed there.

I know that when I changed FF pw on my Note 8 it deleted the password/logins. But seeing as how they are still showing up on my desktop, obviously they are still saved in FF

I would like to be able to choose where Sync stores my information. Because it might contain sensitive personal information, people should want to have control over where exactly the data is stored. Right now it seems to be stored in some magical cloud service somewhere in the universe.

So for example, I might want to store it as a file on my GDrive, or as a digest in my Github account, or upload a file to my own server somehow.

For personal information storage, it is absolutely vital that it doesn't go to place where I don't want it to be, and a place that I have a reasonable level of control over.

So, million dollar question: how can I set this up?

I just logged on and went to Netflix. I was logged in under an account I haven't used in a year. While trouble shooting the issue I discovered the browser updated and synced my old account with my new one. This included passwords and logins that were compromised in data breaches. I don't even use the old computer or any of those passwords. Now I can't even get Netflix to play on there with the correct login data. I took that old account info out and deleted the cookies from compromised accounts. Can anyone tell me how to fix the sites, other than switching away from Firefox entirely?

I am not happy and can't even leave feedback to get real support from the people who did this dumb stunt without even asking me first.

Up to some days ago I had the extremely handy option to look up a stored password in sync, by clicking on the firefox account button in the toolbar. In the menu that opened there was an option to view (add? manage?) stored accounts and passwords. Two clicks and that was it.

Today I tried to do the same thing, but instead of the usual menu options I was greeted with 5-6 options relating to the firefox account, and a zillion of my synced bookmarked pages from other devices. Where has the ultra-used (perhaps the single most used button on my browser, besides the back/forward ones and ctrl+h to open history) option of opening Lockwise gone to?

Please God, don't let this one be a "usability" improvement...
