I want to change my g-mail password but before I stop getting mails in Thunderbird I looked for how I will do that in Thunderbird. I find there is NO WAY to change a password in Thunderbird and there is no current password listed either. I find that ridiculous not to be able to change a password and zero instructions anywhere. Pretty stupid ! Someone with some brains at Mozilla needs to come up with an update for Thunderbird to add a way to change a password. Can't add an image because I don't want to give away any private information.

I have Thunderbird 102.15.1. I can receive emails from my Hotmail account (set up as POP3), and up until 22/09/2024 I could also send emails through Hotmail.
At some point after 22/09/2024 I am no longer able to send emails through Hotmail.
I have the following setting for the outgoing server (SMTP) (which worked fine until 22/09/2024):
Description: hotmail server name: smtp.office365.com Port: 587 Connection security: STARTTLS Authentication method: Normal password
When I try to send an email I get the following message:
"Enter your password for adriharp@hotmail.com on smtp.office365.com:"
with the password dialog box underneath.
If I change the authentication method to OAUTH2 for the outgoing SMTP server, I very briefly see the "enter credentials" screen flash up, then the Sending message box appears and Thunderbird hangs until I hit the Cancel button. If I leave it to run, I get this message:
"Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.office365.com timed out. Try again."
If I try to generate a new app password in my Microsoft account and enter this with the outgoing SMTP server authentication set to Normal Password, I get this message:
"Login to server smtp.office365.com with username adriharp@hotmail.com failed."
I use OAUTH2 authentication for the incoming Hotmail server (SSL/TLS on outlook.office365.com). This works fine.
My questions are: - does anyone know why this change happened in the last few weeks ? - how can I change my settings in Thunderbird (and/or Microsoft Hotmail a/c) to send emails via my Hotmail account ? - do I need to upgrade Thunderbird to send emails via my Hotmail account ?
I am running Windows 7 on this laptop so I think my options to upgrade are limited to 115.10.01.
Thanks for your help.

I had Thunderbird set up using the native icloud calendar function, but today it is asking me repeatedly for my caldav icloud ID and password. When I enter the login credentials, they are not being accepted by Thunderbird. I am using my icloud ID and the app specific password I set up for Thunderbird - but they are not being accepted anymore by Thunderbird. How can I get Thunderbird to accept my icloud login credentials, so I can see my calendars?

Problems with Outlook & Hotmail Accounts in Thunderbird.
Recently some relatively new Outlook & Hotmail accounts were created on the Microsoft site then I attempted to include them into my Thunderbird program. I logged into each account and sent a number of emails around to each other and to other existing gmail accounts, no problems there.
When the Outlook AC was included into Thunderbird I received the following message "Thunderbird was unable to find connected services", then on the next screen in Thunderbird it said "Email account connected successfully". However when I looked at this account there was a single line saying 'Inbox', but there was no emails in there. I was able to send an email from both the Outlook and Hotmail configurations in Thunderbird, but not receive any emails.
I then modified the IMAP configuration in the Hotmail account according to directions given to me late last week from a member of the Thunderbird Community. This did not make any difference in that still no emails were received on the Hotmail account in Thunderbird.
For completeness I summarise the settings on both the Outlook & Hotmail accounts. The Outlook account settings are what Thunderbird set when the account was set up in Thunderbird, the Hotmail account settings were changed as per suggestion.
Outlook Account: In Server (IMAP) - 'outlook.office365.com', Port = 993, SSL/TLS OAuth2
Out Server - 'smtp-mail.outlook.com', Port = 587, STARTTLS, oAuth2
Hotmail Account: In server (IMAP) - 'imap-mail.outlook.com', Port = 993, SSL/TLS, Normal Password
Out server - 'smtp-mail.outlook.com', Port = 587, STARTTLS, oAuth2
Finally, every time I open up Thunderbird I get the flowing message on the screen "Enter your password for account *** on imap-mail.outlook.com:", then after I hit the Cancel button I get the message "Login to server *** failed". If instead I enter the password for the account I get a message saying "Login to server imap-mail.outlook.com with username *** failed".
If I click on either account then hit the Import button I get the Import Tool. When I select the option 'Import from Outlook' radio button the then get a message saying "No profile found" in red.
In Firefox, on another PC, I go to the outlook.live.com site and I can login to both my Outlook and to my Hotmail email accounts separately.
I finally note that my Thunderbird is version 140.1.0esr (64-bit)

LarryGad post (Reply to Ashley LambertonQuestion owner): I get the same screenshot Ashley posted above. But...clicking Allow doesn't download my Gmail messages. And clicking the link, Account Permissions, just produces a blank window. An idiosyncrasy is I'm the domain administrator for a "Free Legacy Edition of G Suite for personal use".
This paragraph may not be relevant to the above issue. I did stumble across the Account settings link (https://myaccount.google.com/general-light?pli=1) which contains the line: 'Connected accounts View and manage your accounts from other services' Clicking the 'View ...' link goes to https://profiles.google.com/connectedaccounts and displays the message: "404. That’s an error. The requested URL was not found on this server. That’s all we know." Highlighting the 'View ...' link shows https://profiles.google.com/connectedaccounts?authuser=0
Thanks in advance.

I have downloaded the latest Thunderbird (for Windows). I have tried setting up my Gmail account in it but just get a failure. Not sure what I am doing wrong.
I start the account setup, set my email address and password and click continue. It shows an automatic IMAP configuration, I click Done. A window pops up from Google for me to allow Thunderbird to access my Google Account. I click Allow. The window goes away and It goes back to the account setup screen with a yellow error box saying "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password."
I know my username and password are correct. Any suggestions?

Firefox on my Android smartphone is well synchronized with Firefox on the computer. I can see that both contain the same list of logins and passwords. When I must log in other applications, there is a notice that appears saying "unlock faierferox" followed by the sign of fingerprints. But when I try to have my fingerprint recognized, nothing happens.
What should I do?
Thanks for helping.

I changed my Google account password just today. I have used Thunderbird on PC for Gmail without issues for years. I went into Thunderbird Saved Passwords and changed the appropriate line to the new Gmail password. I restarted Thunderbird and tried to send a test e-mail. I kept getting "Login to account Google Mail failed" with a box of 3 options, Retry, Enter New Password or Cancel. When I click on either Retry or Enter New Password, it doesn't give me a chance to enter a password and goes immediately into the same "Login to account Google Mail failed" box with the 3 options. I searched and read the support and one of the option is to remove the line from Saved Passwords and re-create it. I did that and tried to send another test e-mail. Now I'm still not getting a chance to enter a new password. I keep getting the box with the 3 options which doesn't allow me to enter a new password. There isn't a new entry in the Saved Passwords.
Strange thing is Thunderbird is receiving new e-mails fine. I'm just not able to send.
Thanks.

Have been running classic Outlook email in Win 10 for years, with a blueyonder.co.uk (Virgin) email address. Now moving to a new PC running Windows 11. Tried to setup Outlook email in Win 11, but Outlook keeps telling me that my blueyonder address doesn't exist though I still get emails on my phone and my old PC running Windows 10. Given up on Outlook and advised by a friend to try Thunderbird. Now trying to setup Thunderbird. It looks very hopeful; it found my Virgin account and setup corresponding server settings, but when I click on "Done" I get the message "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password." I have checked my password by signing in to Virgin, where I can see my emails. Dave.

Trying to set up Thunderbird on new computer. I do NOT want to import anything but address book from old computer. I use Thunderbird to Gmail since I also have an Android phone and want to access emails with Thunderbird and Gmail. I downloaded the Thunderbird installer, but I cannot log into Gmail when the Thunderbird setup asks me to EVEN THOUGH I know I am using the correct Gmail password, it is rejected as incorrect. Do I need to set up a whole new Gmail account? I MUST use the same email address, and I doubt Google will allow me to set up a new account with that address.
Please help.

When I try to add my Outlook account, the authentication process requires a password input rather than redirecting to Microsoft’s OAuth2 login flow. My Outlook account is configured as passwordless, meaning I typically sign in via Microsoft Authenticator, biometrics, or a security key. I have already tried deleting and recreating my Thunderbird profile, but the issue persists. Since this is my first time adding this Outlook account, there is no existing outgoing server (SMTP) entry for Outlook in Thunderbird’s list. I attempted to manually configure the SMTP server (smtp.office365.com, port 587, oauth2), but the same password prompt appears, and I cannot proceed.

I have multiple gmail accounts set up on Thunderbird. They were all working fine until I traveled overseas and came back. Then, all of a sudden, 1 gmail account stopped working. The rest kept working fine. I checked the settings and they were correct. I removed the account and tried to set it up again (about 10 times), but kept getting the same error message: "Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password." The automatic configuration passed and I even tried manually configuring to the recommended settings to no avail.
The only thing I can think of is that when traveling overseas and trying to get online, Thunderbird and/or Gmail asks for further security verification, and I just avoided using Thunderbird altogether while abroad. Upon my return, I started getting this error message. It is extremely inconvenient to have to use the Gmail interface for only 1 email (my main email!). Does anybody know anything I can do to repair this? I'm almost tempted to use another email client altogether to make my life more efficient as the new setup is not sustainable.
