After I responded positively to a notice offering to update my Thunderbird account... I keep getting a window asking whether I want to allow "Thunderbird Software Updater" to make changes to my device.

I always get very cautious and suspicious when asked about giving permission to make changes to my device... I've been burned in the past by such requests.

How can I be sure this is really a legitimate request from Thunderbird/Mozilla?

The latest version of Thunderbird has expanded an ongoing problem. Several updates ago (I am not sure just when or which version), TB stopped showing messages deleted from trash folders without repeatedly clicking on Trash, then the folder, then Trash again. Or, if I deleted 3 messages from the trash folder, the Heading Trash, would still show 3 messages in that trash folder. Only w/clicking on Trash, clicking on the folder, then clicking on trash again (and maybe repeating the process, would the (3) finally disappear from the Trash Heading.

Now it's happening in the inbox. The title or category heading will show (2) for 2 new messages, sometimes, there ARE no new messages. messages. I can sort by read/unread, and I still won't find them. Or the heading will show 2 new messages and I've already read them and perhaps even deleted them.

TB also has difficulty/doesn't retrieve all message from gmail addresses anymore, I don't know why.

I currently back up most of the files on my computer with a program that watches files and uploads them to cloud whenever they change. I'm wondering if this would be an effective way to back up my Thunderbird profile, given that I usually have Thunderbird open.

I've noticed the article on profiles says to close Thunderbird prior to copying the profile folder for a (manual) backup. Is that just to prevent users from getting tripped up by the lock file? Or is there another reason for it?

Emails shift around and the view/emails update after deleting single/multiple emails, causing the current emails to update and change which emails are shown? I can select one or multiple emails to delete, and once I delete them the view of current emails shuffles around and sometimes it either removes certain emails entirely, and other times just shifts them around. Hi, I've exhaustively checked my server settings, and they are correct (nothing's changed on my end, or per Centurylink recs). But for the last two days, Centurylink servers are timing out. Thunderbird is connecting to the server, but the connection is timing out. I can't receive or send messages through Thunderbird, and have had to resort to webmail. Not getting any help from centurylink chat. Did anything change on the Thunderbird end of things?

Thunderbird does not save changed settings

Whether I'm adding a new email account or trying to change idle.db.idle_limit from 300000 (5 zeroes) to 30000000 (7 zeroes) the settings are not retained in the next session. I have tried safe-mode, deleting permissions.sqlite and manually editing prefs.js and nothing changes. May times on exiting Thunderbird abends -I have sent in the diagnostic information through the abend popup.

since my last update I have not been able to send or receive emails. When I go to my server everything is fine. I have gone through the troubleshooting. Everything is fine with my security program and I have deleted and re entered my password twice and it still doesn't work. I am not real savvy with computers however I have usually been able to find my way through stuff like this before. This is a first time with Thunderbird and I have had it for years and years. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you, Danny

Our organization is using Gmail. Since roles change every few years, we thought it would be convenient to make the roles aliases, so we can easily point them to new accounts when the roles changed. So, for example, we had president@organization.com pointing to joan@organization.com. Now, Ken is the new president, so we have changed president to point to ken@organization.com.

Clearly, this was a bad idea, because everyone's email client remembers that Joan was president, so we get stuff like:

I realize there is no global way to fix it, because each person will have to fix their own client associations, but I can't even fix it in my Thunderbird email. I have gone through all entries in the address book for Joan, and deleted the president@organization.com address, and yet still, when I respond to an email from Joan, it shows:

President at Organization <joan@organization.com>

What am I missing?

When trying to access the Google Developer Profile webpage on Firefox desktop, I encounter many errors. I can't sign in a lot of the times, sometimes I kind of get in but it says my profile isn't finished even though it is. I ended up creating it with MS Edge and accessing it that way after I had done a couple of the Kotlin training exercises to make sure my progress was getting saved. Many other times I get a 404 message; the errors I get vary a bit.

I have even tried starting Firefox in safe mode just to disable all extensions and add-ons, still with no luck.

It is only with Firefox Desktop that I am having this issue. When I use my Android device and bring it up on Firefox mobile, I don't have any of these issues. I see my profile and badges just fine.

I have multiple emails in this Thunderbird system for a business. We only send from a certain email and this one is the one we are having a problem with.

When I log in to the email, I first get this message, “Enter your password for "...."@sbcglobal.net on inbound.att.net:

After I enter my password, it gives me this message “Sending of password for user eversolemortuary@sbcglobal.net did not succeed. Mail server inbound.att.net responded: Server error - Please try again later.” I double checked that my password was correct by going to the saved logins and showing my password.

Hi there, got the new and latest and love Mozilla and its on all my devices...However, in the new upgrade,under the old one by or under the little "star" of the browser bar where Http shows up etc... there used to be a drop down menu which allowed you to take a "screen shot" and save and copy which I used often enough to notice it was missing or "elsewhere"? Can you educate me as to where to look for that tool now...It was very convenient as part of the bookmark set up before...thanks..

Hello there. I have a 'funny' problem since last night. Fierfox in default mode is unable to display Ä Ö Ü on certain websites. It's a fresh installation without any Add-Ons. When entering troubleshooting mode it can display it. So the thing is: something is altering the displaymode of websites betwine modes.

where do I find the variables that do this in the config - or worse in the registry?
