Sent mail not being saved in my sent mail folders.

When sending emails, TB has always filed them correctly in my IMAP sent folders. Today it comes up with a message

Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder due to a network or file access errors

I can only save by selectic save to local folders.

Any ideas - it has completely cocked up my use of TB!!!!

Of the 3 accounts I have configured in Thunderbird, only the POP account is still functioning. The other 2 are IMAP accounts and are not working. One of these, a Hotmail account, has "Connected to imap-mail.outlook.com..." in the status bar, yet no messages are retrieved from the server (yes, there are unread messages there). Further, after trying to fix it by using the "Repair Folder" utility for the Inbox, it is still not working and the Inbox is now empty and the corresponding local folder is missing. The other IMAP account shows "Checking mail server capabilities..." in the status bar and never changes nor retrieves existing unread mail on the server. An upgrade to version 78.5.0 did not resolve the problem. No other updates have been applied to the OS, (Windows 10) or any other applications.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I can see that this is a common issue but I have been through all the previous posts and have tried all the fixes to no avail.

I have numerous gmails successfully linked to MT but for no obvious reason, the most important one, stopped receiving emails yesterday afternoon. I removed the account and tried adding it again, but am now receiving the 'Unable to log in at server' error message. I have carried out the following:

1) I have double checked that 'Third-party access to GMail' is enabled in my Google Account 2) I have removed all record of passwords linked to the email in question in MT 'Saved Passwords' 3) Authentication is set as OAuth2 on both Incoming and Outgoing

I would be so grateful if someone can give me some advice. It's typical it's always the most important email address that has the problem!

Running Windows10 Pro 64 (Windows update 2004) and TB 78.1.1 32bit. Despite "Check mail at Startup" being set in server settings - TB DOESN'T Check. Instead of opening my INBOX as it used to on startup, it opens a page of settings. I've tried entering the ADDRESS of my INBOX for TB to use - it has no effect. The settings Page still displays . . . These things are BASIC FUNCTIONALITY - can we have them back please? The "Manual Sort Folders" Add-on, (purported to Solve the INBOX issue) is not supported by TB 78.1.1 anyway. I really don't think it should be necessary to resort to Add-ons for such basic functionality

The day before yesterday my Gmail account stopped working in Thunderbird (currently 78.4.1 Windows). Rather than faff around ad infinitum, I removed the account from Tbird and decided to set it up again from scratch, removing message data as well. I also removed Thunderbird as a Third-party app with account access in my Google account. Finally I changed my Google account password. I basically wanted to start completely from scratch to find out where the issue was.

Upon creating the account in Tbird it finds the config in the Mozilla database but it continues to come back and say "Unable to log in at server". There are only two things to add, gmail address and password and I have double and triple checked that they are correct. I cannot get any further.

I have my Gmail account working fine in Firefox, but I'd like it in Thunderbird like it's always been.

Can anybody help? Very grateful in advance.

AND can be totally disfunctional when another bug in Windows leaves an artifact popup in the lower right of my screen that covers the upload window action buttons (Open & Cancel).

I used to get a more normal file chooser window that could be resized...

Hi there. Seem that every time I add a hyperlink to a word or words the underline and text colour will revert back to normal. Even trying to disable the underline , as soon as you start typing again it will auto-enable.

I checked the options maybe this is a set format that was defaulted from initial installation but could not see anything.

I added an image to look at.

I am using Firefox 83.0 64-bit on a Windows laptop.

I was hoping to prototype some website code locally (using the Windows directories) prior to testing with a proper website.

I have been unable to get sessionStorage (or localStorage) to pass variables to another page unless they're in the same Windows directory. For instance, if I create 2 very simple and cut-down test files: Test1.html and Test2.html, that contain the following JavaScript:

Test1.html window.sessionStorage.setItem ("html", element.innerHTML); alert ("posting " + window.sessionStorage.getItem ("html")); window.open ("Test2.html", "_self");

Test2.html var html=window.sessionStorage.getItem ("html"); alert ("received " + html);

then it works if the two files are in the same directory. But if Test2 is in a subdirectory, and I change the open call to:

window.open (".\\subdir\\Test2.html", "_self");

then it receives null instead of the HTML that Test1 is sending. I am guessing that there is some code that is treating the change of directory as a cross-origin issue, even though they're under the same root directory.

I appreciate that the specification may be a bit vague in this non-Web situation, but Chrome does what I would expect. I thought someone might want to take a look to check if this was an oversight or deliberate.

Is there any way to abbreviate the Header that is shown in Thunderbird? Mine is so long that it dominates the available real estate on my display. I do not care how much information is in the Email Header I just want a means of controlling what is displayed so I can view more of the contents and less of the meta stuff. I have worked at this before but was unable to get anywhere. Robert

This morning, I still had the icon. I was already running 83.0. Since then, that icon has disappeared. I tried closing and reopening Firefox, but it is still gone. I use that all the time. I don't see any place to restore it. This appears to be an awful bug. The icon used to be next to the Home icon just to the left of the URL bar.

I have just now set up the new version of Thunderbird. I must have made some mistake in setting up my new account. I can enter the "to" from my address book but cannot figure out how to send "cc" to multiple addresses. I can send with one cc recipient but can't figure out how to include multiple cc recipients.

I love Thunderbird - it is a great email system.

As you can guess from such a fundamental question, I am quite elderly and not a teckie.

Any chance that one of the youngsters among your volunteers can help an old man out?

The last email I received from any ISP through Thunderbird 78.5.0 was on 11/27/2020. If I fire up Outlook, I get all the mail I missed over the past 3 days. I've tried resetting the security.tls.version.min value to 1, per this article https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-78-faq#w_how-to-enable-outdated-security-protocols-tls-1-0-and-1-1 and that hasn't helped.

So, I know that my 3 different ISPs are not all having trouble (since Outlook receives my test emails and old email that were sent during the Thunderbird "outage", and my phone received the missing emails).

It doesn't appear to have anything to do with the TLS version, as setting it to 1 has no effect.

I know the date this occurred was 11/27/2020.

I've rebooted the computer and restarted Thunderbird multiple times.

I've tried STARTTLS (which Thunderbird defaulted to) and SSL/TLS (which my ISPs all give as their correct server settings) and nothing makes any difference.

The status bar at the end shows "Checking mail server capabilities..." and never progresses any further.

What else can I try?

After the most recent update, 78.4.0, I cannot receive emails. I can send emails. Also the folder icons changed from yellow to white. Erols.com (RCN) is my email host. I can still receive emails on my phone and through mail2web.com. I have tried turning off firewalls, both Webroot and the native one in Windows 10. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both latest version and an earlier version. I checked to make sure the proper password was still saved. When I hit the Get Messages button, there is a "Connected to pop.rcn.com..." in the bottom pane where the "unread" and "total" are listed. It just vanishes after a bit. Anybody got a cure?

Last night, everything was working OK. This morning Thunderbird would not connect to the email server. It now hangs on "connected to imap.ionos.co.uk". ISP says they have not changed anything. I am using their suggested settings STARTTLS and SSL/TLS and suggested ports. As Thunderbird says it is connected, it seems to be a problem the ISP end. They blame Thunderbird. I have tried turning down the security to use outdated security protocols TLS 1.0 and 1.1 using the config editor but, with the ISPs suggested settings, it still does not work. Changing the security in Thunderbird to NONE allows Thunderbird to download and send emails.

Any suggestions please?

Thunderbird just started doing the following: 1) Isn't allowing me to send email to more than 1 recipient, and 1 CC 2) I can't add any recipients, or CC to a 'Reply All' only allowed to add 1 BCC. 3) I can't add any recipients to a 'Reply' only one CC

This just started this morning; it was working fine on Friday. I've installed the most current version of Thunderbird: Nothing. Windows 10 forced an update on me over the weekend, but I rolled that back already. Anyone know what the frack is going on?????

All I need to know is, how to automatically sort emails into their various subfolders. When I was using Outlook, it had a 'create rule' feature whereby you could get it to automatically put emails from certain addresses straight into the right subfolder. The title of the subfolder would be in bold and next to it a number of how many unread emails were there. I cannot seem to find anything in help that addresses this - there are far too many articles to process with "protocals", "add-ons", "IMAP"...it's all beyond me. Frankly this is just another reason I am getting increasingly frustrated with Thunderbird. If anyone can enlighten me I'd be most grateful.
