I go to my credit card web account, and I type in my login name and my password, and Firefox refuses to save it. I can save it with any other login -- "Would you like Firefox to save this login for xxx.com?" In fact, my wife can save her login on her account with the same credit card website. That particular website is not listed as an "exception" in my security preferences (in fact, I have no exceptions listed). What's going on?

We're talking FF 58.0.2 on Mac OS 10.11.6.

Hi,

I have a semi-useful add-on to hide fixed elements. Unfortunately, it can't keep them from loading, and some sites now have animated sticky elements, so I need to block them before they trigger migraines, not just hide them afterwards.

I've looked online, and can only ever find instructions for web designers to inflict these things, not for users to block these things. I am not a programmer, and I am not going to figure out how to block these things from instructions on how to inflict them, but I might be able to figure it out from code to hide them.

The solution below no longer works. My current version of Firefox is 64.0.2

When did this problem start for you?

On Mac, Firefox 56 ratcheted up the security sandbox, limiting which files pages can use on your system. This apparently prevents Firefox from using font files in a "suitcase" or "Adobe Type 1" format. The developers are aware of this and some fixes were made in Firefox 57, but they might have missed some font types or unexpected font file locations.

To see whether this is the problem, and as a temporary workaround, you can reduce the sandbox security level back to what it was in Firefox 52-55 as follows:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste sand and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the security.sandbox.content.level preference and change the value from 3 to 1 and click OK

That change won't take effect until the next time you quit and restart Firefox

Why?

My firefox has been "not responding" and then crashing several times a day basically every day for a while now, maybe a month or two on my Mac. This usually often happens on the site Redfin.com but on other sites as well. The things I can remember that I've done to try to fix it include:

-deleting my firefox user profile and making a new one with all new info
-turning off hardware acceleration
-working in firefox safe mode
-running disk utility on my computer
-running an malware check on my computer, which was clean
-updating all my apps/running software update

Despite the above changes, it continues to crash.

I visit sites that have local ssl certificates installed (self signed), typically I get the warning about this, accept, confirm, etc. All used to be good. I just now received an update to FF to 33.0, now none of these sites work. (I'm in the Beta channel) I'm getting: error code: sec_error_invalid_key

The sites in question, are all mine, and work well on other browsers.

How do I restore tabs and windows from two sessions ago?

I typically keep a lot of tabs open on my firefox browser and seem to have now lost them — a HUGE problem for me as its become a critical way for me to save and return to ongoing research.

whenever I quit FF I usually restore previous session immediately on opening back up the program but I must have spaced on doing that this last time since I was juggling a lot of other work/ calls at that moment, had to shut down my laptop and leave (only to find now when I am re-opening it that all those tabs are gone. Either that or there is a bug preventing me from opening a previous session.

Bottom line: its no big deal if I could just restore a session from say one day ago and then reconstruct whatever tabs I'd added since by looking through my history, but that doesnt seem to be an option.

I have seen posts of people trying to do something like this on PCs but I was afraid to try that any of that on a Mac for obvious reasons.

Does anyone know if what I am looking for is possible for Macs and if so could you please explain?

Fingers crossed and trying not to freak out too much,

Sam

Sometimes the icon for Firefox in the dock turns into a light blue rectangle box with a thin white border around it and a capital "A" that is made from a pencil, paintbrush and ruler.

Sometimes in the past, it has helped to remove that icon from the dock and then start up Firefox again and then say "keep in the dock" and then the usual Firefox icon appears again and sticks, but that didn't work this time.

It's harder to identify Firefox if it doesn't have the usual little orange fox icon.

I have a Mac Mini (late 2014) running 10.13.1 High Sierra. This problem just recently reappeared, but not immediately after installing High Sierra.

I have searched around and can't find a solution for this.

I'm attempting to upload a screenshot of my mouse cursor pointing at Firefox in the dock and the generic icon.

Hi,

I am using Firefox on my Macbook Pro.

When I quit Firefox, the windows close but the programme remains open on my dock with the dot underneath, as if it's still open.

Force quit doesn't work, and it is not showing up in activity monitor, so there is nothing to force kill there.

I then can't restart Firefox without restarting my computer.
