I have a Mac and have Firefox 43.0.4 for my browser. I couldn't get an interactive website to work so did something with javascript. It was the wrong thing to do.

Gmail msg says: "JavaScript must be enabled in order for you to use Gmail in standard view. However, it seems JavaScript is either disabled or not supported by your browser. To use standard view, enable JavaScript by changing your browser options, then try again."

Somehow I ended up disabling javascript and now can't reactivate it. I need help as non of the sites are working now.

Thanks.

I have an HP Pavillon, Juno email and Firefox is my default browser, At some point while accessing my email I will get the "unresponsive script" error and although it gives my options to continue, debug or close, none of it works and computer freezes. So I have to go to Task Manager and close everything down and start over. Very frustrating. It has also happened when I have been on other websites or with Internet Explorer. HP has tried fixing it, Juno has tried ....all to no avail. I've tried refresh, done many virus/malware scans, etc. It seems to me there is a plug-in or an add-in or some box somewhere not checked. Any ideas?

I am not sure from exactly when but recent update cause JavaScript to stop working. I have the latest version

The reset did not work and I turned every 'Javascript options to true as a test. I also flush any cache. My site still does not work (only in firefox)

Here is the web site: www.rch.ca

The home page bubble should scroll down in the main page, and other bubbles (on other section of the main page) are not shown if I am scrolling down myself with the mouse.

Firefox suddenly stopped working today. When I open it, it tells me that it's already open (which it isn't) and that it can't find or load my profile. If I go directly to profiles and create a new one, I can open it, but all my bookmarks are gone. And then if I close and try to reopen it, the same thing happens--I can't open it and get the same error message.

One thing I figured out is that the profile can’t be read only, and I discovered that mine was (why I don't know), but when I try to uncheck read only, it instantly reverts back to read only, which is weird.

I’ve tried reinstalling Firefox several times, but it’s always the same, even with a brand-new installation, I can’t open it and get the same error message. What can I do if reinstalling doesn’t even work?

Hi all,

     I'm using the latest version of FF 53.0.3 (32-bit) on Windows 7, and lately, every single tab loads slow with a momentary pop-up stating "a web page is slowing down your browser". The pages do end up loading, and I see others have this problem as well. I am wondering if it's because Flash (again using the latest version) no longer works as Firefox has done away with all add-ons?? Getting extremely frustrated with Firefox. I don't get these error pop-ups in Chrome!

I am using Firefox version 59.0b4 (32-bit) and last night Hulu stopped working. Now when I log in to the site it gives me the message:

Watch TV shows and movies free online. Stream episodes of Family Guy, Grey's Anatomy, SNL, Modern Family and many more hit shows.

It appears that software on your computer is blocking JavaScript. To enjoy Hulu.com, you'll need to enable JavaScript in your web browser. Please configure your security software or browser plugins to allow Hulu.com to load JavaScript.

If you require assistance, please contact customer support.

I checked on Microsoft Edge and it is working just fine, so it is not my Kaspersky that is causing this issue. So this is obviously a Firefox problem. I realized I am using a Beta version, so perhaps this is some functionality that has not made it in. But beyond uninstalling Firefox and installing another version, how do I fix this?

Long running scripts have been a constance daily occurrence every time I use my desktop computer since seems like forever. This is the latest one: chrome://calendar/content/calendar-base-view.xml:198..... Not sure if they are all calendar scripts because I'm not always given any script info, just a non responding error message sometimes. I asked for help once before and tried what was suggested, as best I could, but I still have the aggravating problem just as often as ever. However, admittedly I'm not all that computer savy and am more of a user than I am a fixer. My browser is up-to-date and I also reloaded a new one recently. Add-ons are also disabled. Any help at all will be appreciated, thanks.

I have the following Javascript code which has been working for over 10 years and still works on Chrome, but does not work on FF 73.0 on Ubuntu Linux.

```
/************************************************************************
*  timer														        *
*																		*
*  This timer is started whenever the user presses a key in the input	*
*  field and pops if 0.9 second passes without a new keystroke			*
************************************************************************/
var timer = null;
/************************************************************************
*  function onKeyDownName												*
*  This method is called when a key is pressed in the Name field.		*
*  A timer is set so that when the user stops typing the selection		*
*  list is repopulated.												*
*																		*
*  Input:																*
*		event	if passed, event.keyCode identifies the key pressed		*
*				in older releases of Internet Explorer use window.event	*
************************************************************************/
function onKeyDownName(event) {
   if (timer)
clearTimeout(timer);
   timer	= setTimeout(update, 900);
} // function onKeyDownName
/************************************************************************
*  function update														*
*																		*
*  This method is called when the user stops typing to repopulate		*
*  the selection list based upon the current contents of the Name		*
*  field.  It is also the onchange method for the following fields:	*
*  'birthmin', 'birthmax', 'incMarried', 'includeParents',				*
*  'includeSpouse', and 'Sex', and it is called by the onchange		*
*  method for the field 'treeName'.									*
************************************************************************/
function update() {
   var	form	= document.nameForm;
   if (form)
   {		// form present
var url = "/FamilyTree/getIndivNamesXml.php"; ... code to complete url by appending values of elements from form // invoke script to obtain list of names for selection list HTTP.getXML(url, // see O'Reilly Javascript gotNames, noNames);
// clear out the old selection list while we are waiting var select = form.individ; select.options.length = 0;
// put a dummy entry at the top of the selection, otherwise // selecting the first name does not call onchange var name = '[choose an individual]'; var option = new Option(name, -1, false, false); option.innerHTML = '[choose an individual]'; select.appendChild(option);
   }		// form present
   else
       alert("nominalIndex.js:update: cannot find form");
} // function update ```
When I put alerts into nameOnKeyDown and update I see that nameOnKeyDown is called but update is never called.
You can see the above code in action at https://www.jamescobban.net/FamilyTree/nominalIndex.php?name=allenby,%20a&treename=&lang=en
This code has worked for over 10 years, and still is working today on Chrome, but the timer never pops on Firefox 73.0 on Ubuntu Linux 19.10.
