I updated to Firefox 35 recently and now HTML5 videos will not work. I do have NoScript, but disabling or removing it does not fix the problem. Switching to safe mode does not fix the problem. The problem is solved by using a fresh profile or deleting the prefs.js file, but this is not an option for me, as restoring all my settings from scratch would be a time-consuming hassle I'd rather not deal with.

I know the problem is with the update to Firefox 35 specifically because everything was working fine before and stopped working after. To be absolutely certain, I turned on my laptop that had the same exact extensions and settings imported to it from this computer with FEBE a while back. It was using version 34.0.5 and everything was fine with that version. I tested it with the Vine website, all videos worked. It also downloaded the update to Firefox 35 in the background and as soon as I restarted it, the HTML5 videos were broken.

It's definitely something Mozilla changed but forgot to alter/remove an old setting that's gumming up the works. If I could just figure out which line(s) in the prefs.js file was causing the issue, I would delete/modify it myself in Notepad.

For the record, I already had media.windows-media-foundation.enabled set to false. All videos that use Flash seem to work. I think Vimeo uses HTML5, but it's the only non-Flash video site I could find that still works. Flash and Java have been updated to the latest versions.

Hi guys, I'm having a really annoying problem, in which HTML5 audio tags either do not work at all in Firefox; they have a huge delay before playing, or they play (but with many errors and inconsistencies).

I'm using Firefox 35.0

I'm using ONLY .ogg files

Here is an example of my code:

<audio autoplay="autoplay" controls="controls" id="audio" style="display:none;">
 <source src="Music.ogg"
         type='audio/ogg'>
</audio>

<script>
  myAudio=document.getElementById('audio');
  myAudio.addEventListener('canplaythrough', function() {
    this.currentTime = 1;
    this.play();
  });
</script>

The code is working on both Internet Explorer and Chrome.

When I remove the display:none attribute, the audio player is visible.

a href is not working in firefox, the text is not clickable. It only becomes clickable and works when i inspect the element.

<td> 							<p class="one"><a href="postgraduate.html" onclick="location.href='postgraduate.html'" > Postgraduate Studies </a></p> </td>
 <td>							<p class="one"><a href="research.html" onclick="location.href='research.html'"> Research </a> </p> </td>
</div>
</tr>

the href are not working. The text is not made clickable when i hover and does nothing when i click. I've tried resetting Firefox, checked there are no proxies but nothing's changed. In Google chrome they work fine.

Can anyone suggest a solution?

Hey,

I have Firefox 35.0.1 installed and last about a week i have noticed my browser being a lot slower than usually. (can not see any notable difference in any other application on my computer). My system is set to fully automatically update applications and system! I heard and read this forum about problems between my current FF version and flash, so decided to check my system regarding to shockwave flash. to be honest, i was surprized. This is what i saw:

ADD-ONS MANAGER: Shockwave Flash 11.2.202.442 Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202 Always Activate

Shockwave Flash 16.0.0.235 Shockwave Flash 16.0 r0 Always Activate

Shockwave for Director 12.1.5.155 Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 12.1.5.155 Ask to Activate

PLUGIN CHECK PAGE These plugins are up to date

Adobe Flash Player Status Up to Date 16.0.0.235 Action Up to Date

Unknown Plugins Adobe Shockwave 12.1.5.155 Research

I am now carefully listening for suggestions such as what to keep, change or remove from my system

Although several sources/users are saying Shockwave Flash 16.0.0.235 is raported out-of-date by firefox and even new out-of-date versions are raported being out, my auto-update system says 235 is up-to-date. How? Why?

My add-ons Manager shows an old Shockwave Flash as well, which is not listed on plugin check page. Might it be involved making 235 listed ok? Why arent 11.2 auto-replaced/removed when 16.0 already exists? should i remove 11.2 or rather keep it over 16.0, which is raported faulty by several users?

Research shows latest adobe shockwave is 12.1.6 over my current 12.1.5. Why isnt that determined by Firefox, showing just questionmark with word research?

PS! are there any explanations for terms: - Adobe Flash - Shockwave Flash - Adobe Shockwave - Which extension does what?

thank you in advance.

edit: added images PS! side-remark: this forum detects my firefox version as 35.0, while 'About Firefox' shows 35.0.1 - seemed imortant to mention

I use the addon Hugo, which allows me to search any amount of HTML tabs in one go. The Adobe advanced search functionality does not help me, because it does not have a usable context preview as Hugo does and it does not allow to search HTML and PDF at the same time - which is the objective of my efforts. Unfortunately, the Firefox search function does not work with Adobe PDF viewer, as with any other PDF viewer - I know the FF PDF js can be searched with the FF search function, but the FF PDF js viewer is simply not good enough because of very poor rendering - it would be wonderful if this would change to the better!!!

Now, there must be a way to close the gap - handshake - between the FF search function and the search function within the PDF viewer - each desktop search tool and each Internet search engine can search and index PDFs - it is toooo bad that the FF search function has not implemented this functionality - any ideas??? GreaseMonkey script or any other script???

Any help is very much appreciated.

One of my clients has an online course in which each weekly lesson is presented on one web page. A typical lesson includes three MP3 audio files for playback only (no download). The site is built in WordPress, and is using the MediaElement.js HTML5 audio player plug-in, which produces HTML5 code with a fall back to Flash. This system has worked properly for almost two years. A student complained yesterday that she could only get the first audio to play on the Week 1 page; the other two just did nothing when she clicked their Play buttons. I was able to confirm that such was the case in FireFox 34.0 and IE 11, but Chrome and Safari are still working fine. Just focusing on FireFox right now, I have tried several other player plug-ins, with no luck, and even hand crafted HTML5 audio tags in place of the player shortcodes, but got the same result. WordPress and the players are all latest versions. I have also made sure that my FireFox QuickTime and Flash plug-ins are latest versions, but still no change. The console shows a message that the audio file could not be decoded whenever the non-playing players are clicked. Also, in trying different course pages, I find that sometimes the successful player is the first one on the page, but not always; the second or even the third player is sometimes the successful player, while the other two will not play.

I would appreciate any information that could help me get this working again. Now I will go talk to Microsoft about version of this problem. :)

I can't open html files with Firefox. They open with Windows Media Player instead. When I try choose Firefox to open the html file, Firefox is not listed in the RECOMMENDED PROGRAMS or OTHER PROGRAMS list (see image), and when I BROWSE for it, and select the Firefox.exe, nothing happens.

In SET YOUR DEFAULT PROGRAMS, Firefox has a Windows Media Player icon and says FIREFOX MICROSOFT WINDOWS (see image).

In ASSOCIATE A FILE TYPE OR PROTOCOL WITH A PROGRAM (see image), when I select CHANGE PROGRAM I am unable to associate Firefox with html files.

I have tried deleting the Firefox entry from REGISTRY EDITOR:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\RegisteredApplications

I have also tried uninstalling Firefox, and then deleting the folder:

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

And then restarting my PC and installing the latest Firefox as administrator.
