Hi All,

For some reason, I have two versions of Firefox showing in my Programs and Features, on Windows 7.

Version 74.0, installed 13/03/2020, and version 80.0, installed 28/08/2020.

I've seen another topic mentioning this problem for older versions, and tried using a Registry Cleaner as mentioned in that one - but it has made no difference, and both versions are still there.

I'm wary of trying to uninstall the 74.0 version using the Firefox uninstaller, as when I start that there is no mention of it just uninstalling 74.0 - it gives the impression it is uninstalling all versions, which is not something I want.

I just don't need two versions of Firefox on my PC, especially when the older version is no longer used.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I have lost all of my bookmarks and the bookmark categories I made for my toolbar. When I go to "backup" they aren't there either. This happened after my laptop froze, I restarted it, and was asked to sign in to my Firefox account upon opening up the browser.

In Options, I have C:\Downloads⁩ as the location that my internet files are downloaded. Instead, they go to a different location, specifically: C:/Users/**/AppData/Local/Temp.

How do I make Firefox download my files to the correct location?

It's on an older machine but updating my hardware is not an option right now. I don't have this problem on any of my newer machines. I've been using firefox exclusiverly on multiple machines for more than 15 years and I have never had this or any issues until now.

By using the last version of Firefox (74.0) when visiting a website with security connection I got the following error : "Secure Connection Failed An error occurred during a connection to .............. PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified. Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem." With the previous versions of Firefox there was no such problem and I could visit the above website. So, please inform me what happened with ver. 74.0 ? By ver. 74.0 is no more supported some older security protocols which might have the above website, or this is a bug by the new ver. 74.0 ? Please inform me how this issue can be fixed ?

Trying to set up HTML5 peer-peer video conferencing. Its working on Chrome but not Firefox. I have looked at all the available solutions. I have reinstalled firefox; I have checked that media.windows.foundation is set to "true"; I have checked in "safe mode".

This challenge is an issue which occurs 90% of the time. I have yet to assess what conditions occur when html5 video is finally displayed. I can only say that display only occurrred once today and that was when I first inspected the site this morning.

This situation is occurring both in Firefox and the developer edition. Firefox is latest edition and there are no plugins

Any suggestions?

I have no idea what state is on file as being my state of residence (I move a lot for a civilian), but I've lived at this address for the last three or four years and never had any issue with logging in to my firefox account before. I have plenty of trouble with my location WITHIN the state (Oklahoma), because apparently the only cities that exist in the state are OKC and Tulsa /eyeroll, but I've never had an issue with the state itself being misidentified. I could understand if a VPN was causing the issue, but I'm not using a VPN (I know, I probably should, but imagine the login issue THEN! lol). Thanks in advance for any help.

At several occasions, but not in a reproducible manner, when I open pages' links (or bookmarks toolbar's links) using middle-click button (i.e. using "Open Link in a new tab"), the tab opens up, shows the URL it should load, but seems to stop there and never actually loads the website. Sometimes, the URL won't even show up in the omnibar. When this happens, the "Reload current page" is grayed out, so I need to click the omnibar and hit enter to force the URL to load, or click the original link again. Most of the time, reclicking with middle button on the same link works fine again. I did not see any common pattern regarding which links generate this behavior or not, but I will keep trying to find out.

This behavior does occur even in safe-mode (all addons disabled).

Why does Firefox force updates even when you uncheck automatically install updates and checkmark check for updates but let you choose to install them? I want to stay at version 74 but it forced version 78 on me even when I had my options changed in settings....

Whenever i use firefox i get spikes in my CPU usage, sometimes up to 100% usage. When i tab off of firefox, it soon goes down, then comes back whenever i have firefox active. I have tried restarting with add-ons disabled, creating a new profile, reinsalling firefox, disabling and re-enabling hardware acceleration, all to no avail.

I am wondering if there is any way, using Firefox, to select a default search engine that is not:

Amazon Bing DuckDuckGo eBay Google Twitter Wikepedia

Whenever I maximize (not fullscreen) my Firefox a white border surrounds my windows expect on the top. It even hides my taskbar. I already reinstalled it and tried to delete the remaining files in C:\Program Files but without any success. My Windows is 1909 and Firefox 74.0. Maybe some of you experienced the same problem and know how to fix it. Thanks for you help :)

In Firefox 74, I would like to make the default start page dark. Plugins will not work for this, and an I have not seen, option in the settings. I searched and I didn't see anyone ask this specific question. Thanks in advance!

I have a question. In which folder is my Firefox browsing history stored, please?

I ask because I want to create a kind of "browsing diary", and tried to export my browsing history via Mozilla History View. But it couldn't find the folder with my browsing history.

I'm working from a WINDOWS 7 64 Bit computer, and my Firefox version is Firefox 74.0 64 Bit. With those specifications, where do I look for the folder with my browsing history?

Hello, for some reason my firefox has utterly broke. i was running a slightly older version, but if it aint broke dont fix it right? 2 days ago everything worked fine, but then it simply stopped loading videos.

I tried the suggested "fixes" i could find by searching

clear cookies and cache- didnt work

safe mode - didnt work

refresh firefox - didnt work

new profile -didnt work

disable hardware acceleration - didnt work

disable firefox enhanced tracking - didnt work.

When they all failed I uninstalled my outdated version and downloaded the latest 77.0.1 version, this is a fresh install with zero add ons and zero stuff carried over from the previous install, but still no videos will work in firefox. they work fine in other browsers but depending on the site one of the following happens in firefox.

"No video with supported format and MIME type found"

"there was an error loading or playing the video"

" Unfortunately, your browser does not support video playback."

simply a black box where the video is suppose to be.

or I can see the thumbail but the video itself will not load or play.

I asked on reddit and uploaded a "about:support" log Log

and they are stumped

I had a number of separate tabs in a few different windows (search subjects) and the machine I was working on would not boot any longer. To get this research back, I am using Sync - but none of the original windows was preserved. Instead there is just a long list of all of the tabs I had open across all the windows I had open. Why does Sync not preserve the separate windows? With well over a hundred tabs open, this makes recovering/accessing this information very tedious - as all the tabs have to be opened individually, and then sorted into separate windows again, to be bookmarked in their search subject categories/windows! Was this just an oversight, or is it technically not possible to preserve separate windows in Sync?

If it is technically not possible to preserver multiple windows of tabs in Sync, it would be much more workable if it were possible to mark these tabs in Sync to re-open them, rather than have to open them individually or all of the tabs at once from that other machine. Thanks!

Why doesn't firefox EVER explain its terminology used on it website?..For example: explain the difference between windows and tabs? I use a desktop, not a phone. Much of your terminology used for example is meaningless to desktop users.

I am trying to configure PKI based authentication and encryption system in my organization using Hardware token. I was able to install my hardware token feitan ePass2003 Auto in privacy->security device. I am able to see my certificates under view certificate after entering my password for private key. After research on internet, came to know that Applet based client authentication is obsolete and hence i have configure my token in Firefox. The next step i.e Authentication page is where i have got stuck up. Can any one please give details guide on how to use cryptoken operation(challenge & signing) and access to token in JavaScript at client side login page. I could not get hold of any library of java script for access to token through Firefox. Any guidance is highly appreciated.
