I'm getting a PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR when trying to visit a site I've gone to scads of times and strongly believe to be valid today.

Is there any sort of workaround that would allow me to get to this site?

(And, BTW, why does Firefox absurdly tell me to inform the web site about this error when the error prevents me from getting to the web site?)

When maximized, a block box in the top-left corner of the browser covers the favicon of the first tab. When not maximized, the tabs shift to the right such that the box is no longer covering any part of the first tab.

When I start with add-ons disabled, the black box disappears. However, setting my theme to default, removing all my add-ons, refreshing and then re-installing Firefox didn't fix the problem.

I also noticed that if I enable the menu bar, the black box leaves the tabs alone and instead covers the 'File' menu.

Any idea how to get rid of it?

OK - enough space to comm.

I just built a Win 10 system (Pro x64) . In the process I built my standard batch file to backup my data files and Bookmarks to my removable HDD. I used the C:\Users\<your Windows login username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ path described in "Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data" article and found a series of files in a sub-folder identified as xbh4bkna.default-release\bookmarkbackups. So the associated line in the batch file reads "xcopy C:\Users\Oscar\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xbh4bk~1\bookma~1\*.* R:\BUs~1\Bookma~1\ /d /s". However, when I execute the batch file I get a "file not found" even through a directory search shows 6 daily files. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks.

From your help pages concerning file downloads 'Is Do this automatically for files like this from now on disabled? This can happen if the website's server incorrectly specifies the Internet Media type of the file. It also can happen if the server assigns "Content-Disposition: attachment" to the file. '

Then now apparently everyone who has .txt files set to be downloaded falls into one or the other of those two categories above, and every time I wish to download a .txt I have to go through this rigmarole to get it to download, and every time making such downloads automatic is disabled.

I want .txt files to download automatically, as they used to do. Firefox is behaving as if I am only ever going to download .txt files from this one site. The fact that one particular site may not be fulfilling every pettifogging detail of html protocol is NOT a valid reason for firefox to disable automatic downloads of .txt files from every web site.

I'm using Firefox 68.0.1 on macOS Mojave 10.14.5. When I go full screen, the tabs and address bar remain at the top of the screen. I can't make them go away. I've tried:

- Installing plugins (I tried a couple) - Disabling Add-ons (Safe mode) - Resetting Firefox - Disabling hardware acceleration (and restart browser) - Using different techniques to go full screen (Cmd+Shift+F, Cmd+Ctrl+F, Zoom menu) - Scrolling or clicking in the canvas to ensure focus

No matter what, the tab bar and address bar remain on the screen (see attached screenshot). I've also attached my browser config (filtered on "full"). Is there any way to get a full-screen experience in Firefox?

I have recently upgraded to mint 19.2 by reinstalling the operating system. Everything seems OK except for firefox and thunderbird mail. Neither of these will start from either the menu or a desktop shortcut. All that happens is the small loading icon appears if i hover over the bottom panel for a short while then dissapears. There doesn't seem to be any crash reports in either the .mozilla or the .thunderbird folders. However, they will start with no problem from a terminal window.

Can anyone give me a clue as to how to sort this?

Hello, title states the issue. I have checked the sound mixer in windows and Firefox is not muted. I have uninstalled Realtek Media Codecs (no sound on the same video with or without). I have CCCP codec pack installed but am unsure if that works with Firefox. FireFox is up to date I have tried disabling uBlock Origin and the other plugin Imagus and still the same result. This is a new PC with a 3900X cpu and have had this issue since installation Looking at the "stats for nerds" the video that has no sound playback is using the same codec as the one that plays sound. This video has no sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agZ0xISi40E This video has sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O37yJBFRrfg

Any help would be appreciated!

I'm using Windows 7 and have recently encountered this problem (I say recently - last month to 6 wks). I can enter my login details, but when entering memorable data it's as if Firefox just freezes - the window looks like it's trying to move on, but never does. If I then try to access different sites, I end up with the same problem there too! I have to end the firefox process in order to use other sites again. Oddly enough, I don't have this problem on IE 11.

This has been happening for sometime now and im getting sick of it and on the brink of getting rid of it all together. Certain websites have parts of the page missing (mostly clickable links). Yet if i open the same page using internet explorer or google chrome everything works fine. I have read that deleting the chache and cookies helps resolve this (which i have done countless times) but the problem keeps coming back. It's ridiculous that you have to keep doing this. And yes my version of Firefox is up to date. Why is it that only firefox has this issue, surely it's about time something was done to sort it once and for all. Infuriating!!!!!

I like the search suggestions feature. I also like how installed Search Engines are listed as buttons in the search pop-down area, so I can type a search term then click a specific search engine.

What I don't like is the fact that this row of buttons is on the bottom of this area, not the top.

A very common occurrence is that I type something, the suggestions haven't loaded yet, I try to click on one of the Search Engine buttons, but then at the last second the suggestions appear, shift all the buttons away, and I end up clicking on some irrelevant google search term instead of what I wanted.

A related occurrence is that I've typed something, there are suggestions, but by the time I try to click a Search Engine button, the suggestions change (e.g. realising that e.g. there are no suggestions now that I typed an extra word or two) and the buttons suddenly move back up, causing me to click something irrelevant in the web page underneath.

Is it possible to change it so that this list of Search Engine buttons can be made to not keep moving around (as the search suggestions field is not of fixed height), e.g. by fixing it to the top of this area rather than the bottom? If it's already possible, I can't figure out where the option would be (and I did check, I also looked in about:config for terms like "search" and "suggestion" and found nothing promising). Please advise.

Using Firefox 68.0.1 on macOS 10.14.6. I also use Cookie 5 for management of cookies and noticed it was not deleting Firefox cookies, but still worked with other browsers. I worked with sweetpproductions.com to see if Cookie 5 had an issue but nothing found. Essentially, if I wipe out Firefox entirely ( I went as far as creating a new Firefox Sync account) things work for a while. Problems start to show up in this order: 1. No suggestions from my history when typing in the address bar 2. Old bookmarks show up, ones that have not existed in the new Sync account (I did, however restore my bookmarks from a clone of my SSD made a couple of weeks ago, so they may have been somewhere in there) 3. Cannot delete these old bookmarks 4. Export bookmarks to html creates a file with only folder titles, no links at all (I tried this to see if I could edit out the unwanted bookmarks there and re-import) 5. Export bookmarks to html fails altogether; no file is written 6. Cookie stops being able to read and delete Firefox cookies. The new cookies arrive, can be seen in my Privacy prefs, but don't show in Cookie 5.

Most of this sounds like places.sqlite is becoming corrupted. I don't think that is affected by Cookie 5, as I understand it stores only history and bookmarks. I'm waiting to hear from SweetP to confirm Cookie 5 doesn't touch places.sqlite. I suppose I must try to confirm this by starting over again and keeping a copy of places.sqlite when it is fresh, then using it to replace the file in my profile when the problems start. To save time, I plan to try first to replace it with a copy from yesterday from a TimeMachine backup.

I'd be delighted to have any advice you can offer. In the last few days I have set up just about every other browser for Mac I can find and only Vivaldi comes close to Firefox (but when that Vivaldi Helper starts eating up my CPU things get hot and the fans run. I can't live with that!)

Since I upgraded to Firefox 68.0.1, the browser keeps crashing excessively; either just individual tabs crashing, or the entire application. I've updated all my add-ons and plugins, and disabled hardware acceleration in both Firefox and Flash Player. I've reduced my add-ons to just the ones I'm not willing to do without (I haven't actually added any add-ons since upgrading, in any event.

If the only solution is downgrading, then that's a problem, too, because Mozilla made it impossible to run a downgraded build of Firefox with the default profile. Even launching it from the Command Prompt as "Firefox.exe -p" allows me to select my default profile, but I stilll get stuck with the panel after that which demands I either make a new profile or exit Firefox.

Using "Firefox.exe -allow-downgrade" and "Firefox.exe -p -allow-downgrade" don't work, either.

Usually the very first tab that loads in Firefox is the "Oops, something went wrong, do you want to restore your last session?" one. Since today the tab doesn't show up anymore all of a sudden.

Firefox is still using 1-2gb of RAM (like the old, huge session is loaded), even though the only tab that's open is the one I'm using to write this.

The "profiles/xxxxx.default/sessionstore.jsonlz4" file is almost 70mb. I already deleted it and used the other 70mb one that was created yesterday ("sessionstore-backups/recovery.jsonlz4") instead but the first tab still loads up empty and FF is pretty slow/kind of laggy. "History > Restore Previous Session" is greyed out and there's nothing in "History > Recently Closed Windows".

I just updated to 68.0.1 but that didn't help either.

Any ideas how I can make FF load the old session or at least make it give me the option to restore it?
