After standby or switching between desktop/tablet mode Firefox shows all kinds of dropdowns I can't interact with

I'm on Windows 10 Home 1809 running Firefox 65.0.2 64-bit and everytime I wake my Surface Pro 6 from standby or toggle it between tablet and desktop mode Firefox displays a bunch of windows and dropdowns I can't interact with and get rid of easily.

This could be the normal adress bar dropdown as shown in the screenshot or the dropdown that comes when I click on the lock on the left of the adress bar, a prompt that an extension needs new permissions, the dropdown that comes when I add a bookmark or the toggle dropdown in the top of the sidebar.

As already mentioned, the windows are non interactable, they are just there and the only way of getting rid of these windows is to trigger them again and then close them or completly restart Firefox.

I already tried disabling all extensions but that didn't help.

Any ideas what this might be?

I started using Firefox again today (Mar 10) and can't seem to get 1Password to work very well — I keep logging in to 1Password, and have the extension added, both the extension and browser versions are logged in, but when I go to use the passwords stored, I have to login again. Is this a familiar issue or problem?

Hello everyone,

This started about a week ago, whenever I open a youtube video (new tab or simply click on the alredy existing page and any video does it) the browser freezes. The freeze can go from only a second to about 20 seconds, when it happens I cannot use firefox at all and have to wait for it to "come back". Also the youtube page takes a long time to fully open, any other browser is fine and the video just starts in about a second, no freezing or anything like it. Strictly firefox.

I'm using Win 10, supposed to be all updated. Drivers updated, flash updated also.

Really no idea why it started doing this.

Thanks for the help !

I have searched for an answer and all the results come back with "Smooth Scroll" inside Firefox. My problem is with my website. I have windows 10 and when I go to my website using FF, smooth-scroll.js doesn't work where it actually jumps to the anchor tag on the page rather than scroll smoothly. I have tested on several other computers I have in my workshop using vista, Windows 7, Linux and Apple and all scroll smoothly. I have asked several counterparts to have a look as well and they have said it scrolls perfect. My site scrolls smoothly using IE, Edge, Opera, Chrome and Safari and all work perfect. I tried debugging, I have disable and re-enabled hardware acceleration I have tried uninstalling FF and reinstalling with no luck. And I have Windows 10 fully updated.

Sorry for the long explanation but my question is, "Has anyone come across this issue using FF on Windows 10"? I know it's not an FF issue as it works on all other types of computers but perhaps there is a setting I have missed. I love FF and have used it since 2004 but this is driving me mad.

Please check my website here. https://www.denlyncomputers.com.au

All responses will be appreciated.

Cheers.

First of all, sorry if this is the wrong place for this question.

The addon "Sitelauncher" (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/sitelauncher-speed-dial/calhgleedaaigmhnoklfenlfhlbfdloo) used to be available for Firefox too before the big change to the way it handles addons but it was never updated to the new Firefox and I've been searching for an addon to replace it for years.

I've looked at hundreds of "new tab replacer" addons but none of them does what Sitelauncher did. It is such a simple addon yet it is so useful and there is somehow no other addon that does this. Basically the functionality I'm looking for is to be able to open a new tab and load up a predetermined website based on the hotkey pressed. (Example from Sitelauncher: Press 'Ctrl + Spacebar' to bring up a menu of user-defined websites with corresponding hotkeys. Then you can press "G" for example to open up a new tab leading to "www.google.com". Hopefully my explanation makes sense. I don't want to open up a new tab that hosts links to other websites. I want to be able to open web pages purely using hotkeys on my keyboard. Thank you.

My browser is 65.0.2 (64-bit), up-to-date. When attempting to download/install a new add-on, I am provided no option for doing so. The only available button for download is "Only with Firefox, Get Firefox Now". This is the same for every add-on. I have tried using Firefox in Safe Mode with all add-ons off and it still did not work.

Sometime after the latest update, I've noticed that my HD purchases on youtube do not have the option of playing any higher than 480p in firefox when they used to be able to play in 1080p. The other browsers, chrome, MS edge do not have this issue and auto detect at 1080p.

The strange thing is that other youtube videos will play in 1080p in firefox, just not the HD videos that I've purchased.

Now I've stuck with firefox for well over a decade but this may be what makes me switch browsers if it's not resolved because I'd have to switch browsers to view content I paid for in any quality playback.

Please solve.

A strange problem with FF 65 under Win10/Pro 64 (1803). I'm pretty sure this is a local problem, since it doesn't appear on my other Win10 machines.

FF 65 is very slow to close, but it's not entirely obvious. I first noticed the problem when I closed FF, then about 15 seconds later I re-launched FF only to see a notification box saying that FF is already running. For testing, I tried re-launching with add-ons disabled (I have 4 add-ons, including uBlock origin), then closed FF while observing the Windows Task Manager. In the "Apps" section of the task manager FF disappears, but under "Background processes" I see 3 or 4 instances of FF, one of which consumes up to 33% CPU and up to 800MB of memory while running. These background tasks vanish after about 30 seconds.

What is FF doing at close? Is it possible to trace what happens at close?

When I use Chrome it does not let anything come up, without asking. I use Firefox as my default browser, but I might have to give that another thought. We got lousy tickets, even if they come. Recent updates have made Firefox eat up all the memory. It opens up multiple processes in the background, just the same way, Chrome did and affected people moved to the Firefox.

I have opened one Window opened with couple of pined sites which took almost 3.0 GB of memory (4 application threads and 3 background processes). Has the Firefox been Compromised by big giants?

Plus, when you search for something even inside the Incognito mode, you'll start getting ads on same search just the moments after. Can anyone please confirm, if the Firefox is still non-profit and safe to use?
