Firefox Quantum v 59.0.2 videos barely play while audio continues (Mac)

Since I installed the latest Quantum update 59.0.2 (64-bit) videos no longer play correctly in any format (embedded in news stories or Facebook, on YouTube, etc.) A split second of video will play, then freeze, while audio continues uninterrupted, then after many seconds, the video may jump to a future frame (or not) and freeze there, again, audio continuing to play uninterrupted.

I found the “Firefox’s performance settings” help page, and tried all solutions there, to no avail. I tried turning on the Hardware Acceleration, to no avail. I turned it off again. To no avail.

I looked through the forum for possible solutions and found none that matched my Mac (they were all for Windows) or the few posted solutions did not work/were not relevant.

My internet connection is hardwired to my machine, so it’s not my WIFi connection — and I had no issues with video playback in the past decade of Firefox versions until this one.

I know it’s Firefox as video runs perfectly fine in Safari.

My specs are: MacBook Pro High Sierra 10.13.3 Processor 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 16 GB Memory Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2 GB Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

Running Quantum 59.0.2 (64-bit)

Please help.

Are add-ons' codes reviewed manually by humans or by other methods to see (1) if they really need the permissions they ask for in order to do what they claim to do, and (2) if they are not abusing these permissions even if they actually need them?

For an example of «2», an ad blocker may need the same permissions as a password manager, but how do we, users, know if the ad blocker is not stealing our passwords? This requires code knowledge that we don't have. So is anyone doing this (is anyone preventing this sort of abuse by manually inspecting extensions' codes)? Or are we on our own?

https://addons.mozilla.org/pt-BR/firefox/addon/dont-touch-my-tabs/, https://addons.mozilla.org/pt-BR/firefox/addon/open-in-browser/ and https://addons.mozilla.org/pt-BR/firefox/addon/lastpass-password-manager/ all require access to all data in all websites, for instance.

I know Google does not review Chrome extensions' codes manually, only automatically, but that's one of the main reasons I am using Firefox and asking this question in a Firefox forum, not a Chrome one.

After years of using Firefox suddenly I can no longer save pictures from internet sites. When I try to save one I get an error message as shown in Extension 1. What the heck is this and what's going on? I like whatever was added that allows me to capture and save video clips. But what is this software that is interfering with the simple matter of saving photographs, usually jpg/jpeg files and the like? I don't understand half the questions asked. Moreover if I try to do something I then get a page (Extension 2 GitHub that seems to charge me for doing what Windows 7 and other iterations of Windows has long done free. What is GitHub? As far as I am concerned, my answer to GitHub is Git Lost!

So, as mentioned in the question/title. On touch screen device (my device is surface pro 3), the pinch to zoom in or zoom out does not work. When we tried to pinch, it will always start from the largest zooming level. On firefox v.59 and earlier, we can zoom normally by pinch the screen. i have tried clear all data/profile, disable extension, run from safe mode. it always fails. any suggestions..?

In Google Chrome and Opera Browser, I can save/download any web page to PDF without using 3rd party browser addon because this option is provided in "print dialogue" option(showing in screenshot) and best think is PDF is looking clean(no ads or banner included in PDF file). But this feature is not available in Firefox.

I asked this over three weeks ago, so I'll ask again, and this is not a trick question: can I restore my bookmarks from a jsonlz4 file, as opposed to json.

I had to create a new user account in Win 10 (due to Win 10 update problems) and in re-establishing up my Firefox browser settings under the new Windows user account, I have lost the download button in the built-in pdf viewer.

To be clear, the 'show download' button is fine (I disabled the 'show download' button auto-hide). What I'm missing is the button to force download of the pdf showing in the built-in viewer - the one that opens the download dialog shown in the screenshot.

I would rather not do this through the application settings in the options.

Just want the button back.

Thanks.

Today I clicked on the same email, clicked on the same link, and it opened in FireFox.

When I first got the email and it would not open in FireFox I right clicked on the link, clicked on "Copy Link Location" and pasted it to open the link.

Can you tell me what is going on?

This is not the first time this has occurred.

Firefox is my browser and should be able to syn my different websites (Google, Microsoft, etc.) on my laptop computer...just like Firefox has done in the past. As you may know by opening my account. I am able to see all my Google emails on my cell phone, but not on my laptop computer. Why?

Also, as Firefox knows, I have a new Google email address: ...and a new password: (...Firefox uses it for my cell phone and I get all my Google emails on it. My question is: Why don't I?

In fact, when I click on my Google email account on my laptop computer, I get this message from Firefox down in the right hand corner, that you are not able to connect to my Google emails on my laptop computer...but I can on my cell phone. WHAT'S UP DOC?!?

I am at my wits end trying to figure this dichotomy out? I am seriously thinking about changing my Firefox browser to a different browser after all my years with Mozilla. HELP! Your faithful client. Dr. Richard C. Muzik

Hi. Firefox keeps crashing when I try to download a file, since update version 59.0.2. I'm using windows 10 64 bit. If I restart the PC It runs fine for a while, but if I put the computer to sleep and use firefox after waking it up. Browsing is fine, but if I try to save an image or download a file it crashes. The file gets saved to the download location, but if I start firefox again. The download starts over, deleting the previously downloaded file.

Look at this screenshot, and consider the fact that the Mozilla Crash Reporter always tells me "Report submitted successfully!", and do your best to tell me what you think is going on. I very much hope Firefox 60 and 61 Stable will bring about major improvements to the reliability of Firefox! It's my preferred browser on both my Dell Inspiron running Windows 10 and my iPhone 6s running iOS 11.3, and I'm really getting tired of it hesitating to follow such basic instructions as bookmarking a page about somewhere in New England I do enjoy exploring very much, especially when I become financially independent and move to a peaceful town near Boston, Mass. in the coming years. If there's anything Firefox needs more than anything else as of April 23, 2018, it's reliability improvements, especially in light of the fact that many other users on Windows 10 have been reporting frequent crashes with the latest version of Firefox Stable in recent and semi-recent weeks! I would be more than happy to volunteer any detail anyone with Mozilla needs to help me with my very recurrent and frustrating issues with Firefox! Lastly, I wonder if the Windows 10 April 2018 update will do anything to improve Firefox.
